Its an experience!!! I got the turkey with provolone cheese. I ordered the 8in with hot peppers. It was huge and the peppers were just a little spicy. I took the second half of my sandwich to work the next day to share with my co-worker. You have to eat the sandwich in sections. It was full of thinly sliced meat. the bread was perfect. I'm truly disappointed, I stopped in for a quick sandwich today after running errands before work... I asked for a corned beef sandwich and couldn't wait to get home to try it. I took a couple of bites as I was starving no a breakfast before running around. It had a funny taste so I opened it up and found this gray mass of meat with pink edges...ughhh!! So I called and was told by a young lady, that this was some new corned beef and it comes in this grayish color, and nothing is wrong with it. I ordered a plain sandwich and this disgusting thing is what I got. WTH is this???!! Just look at it! Can anyone even eat this? Besides the fact that there is about a pound of giardineria on this sandwich, there was sooooo much oil, it leaked through the wrapping and the paper disintegrated so the sandwich was exposed in the bag. Ive been to the one in Hisdale and i dont know why but i feel like the bread is different here on 95th and the sandwich built better in Hinsdale. Dont get me wrong, both delicious! Is the bread different? Also, ive notice sitting here that when someone walks in and walks to the order counter theres a partial wall between order and pay counters. Customers get hidden there and the staff doesnt see them. Just a word to the wise - have them be a little more on top of the customer coming in and servicing them. The sandwich had the basic cold cuts, prosciutto and capicola plus provolone. The bread they serve the sandwich on was hearty and tasteful. "Everything" at Fontanos is what makes their subs great. They pile it on, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, onion, olives, pickle and giardiniera. The sandwich was packed, definitely worth every penny. What was most disappointing was that the employees didn't seem to care. There didn't seem to be any urgency to find out how or why it happened to prevent it from happening again. First time trying sandwiches from this location. The sandwiches here are not as good as the other 2 locations. We ordered 6 subs, Giardiniera on the side. Got to the car & noticed they forgot to put the Giardiniera in the bag, went back in to get it & left. Got home & noticed there was no oil in the Giardiniera , the peppers were dry hardly any juice or oil on the peppers at all. To me what makes their subs stand out above the rest is their flavorful Giardiniera. It just was not the same as the other Fontanos locations. The meat quality wasn't quite up to par either. The subs were not nasty or anything like that, but i just expected better. I also noticed the cheese & meat is sliced thinner here than what i remember at the other locations. read more

If you like your sandwiches saturated in oil, this is your place. Only thing in common with the original location on Polk is the name, that's it. Bread is different. Sandwiches are dripping in oil, onions and black olives. Everything at the original means mayo, lettuce, tomato. Not here. Everything means just that: oil, black olives, pickles, mustard, raw onions, more oil and a touch of a bit more oil. I couldn't even finish it. The employees are practicing COVID guidelines but the customers? That's another story. Either keep the mask on or stay outside with the mask hanging off of your face.
