Have been here several times. The first time or two you could tell they were having some growing pains going from a food truck to a brick and mortar. You never know when they're going to be busy, so that can be a little tricky as the actual seating area isn't small, but also not terribly big. The beer selection is ok. Somewhat similar beers (I drink basically all kinds of beer from the occasional domestic/ basic beers to IPAs, stouts, and everything in between) so finding something that was like "oh let me try that" isn't really a thing here, but you'll find something you know/are probably ok with. Could be worse for sure. The service seems to have improved each time. I think the hired some more seasoned wait staff. Nothing wrong with newer people, just takes time to learn. I have tried something different each time, burger wise. All have been good. The fries are good. No clue what the person saying seemed fish related is talking about? Yum yum yum!!! I came during a non peak time, which was nice. It was quieter and I got to take in the whole restaurant. I had the PuffMento burger (and added some BBQ aioli, on the side) and boy oh boy was it GOOD! I could eat the bacon jam by the spoonful. We've been wanting to try this place in Salisbury and what better time than on a whim being only a few miles from this location in Salisbury. Food Freaks is on Innes Street in the old Smoke Pit location. You will find exposed brick on the inside. There is a bar where they prepare their cocktails. There are no beers on tap, but they have a good selection of can beers. I had the Sweet Water Blue, a blueberry wheat ale. The Hubster had the Black Widow Cider. Both were very good. It looks like the selection can change but what they have is posted on a board behind the bar. I didn't have a cocktail, but I watched the bartender prepare quite a few - they looked pretty good. You can tell he takes pride in his work. The welcome board at the hostess section will announce Chef Features for the month. We put our name in and was seated right away. There was just two of us and it was about 6:00 on a Friday evening. Quite impressive! We were given the menu, the Chef Features and a cocktail menu upon seating. Our server was very helpful when we had questions about anything. We didn't order an appetizer, but the table next to us ordered the pickle dogs that looked amazing! So skipping the appetizers we went all in with our sandwiches - and that's all they have here - there are no dishes so don't expect a steak plate. There are burgers and handhelds served with fries or substitute with a side. I ordered the Rhythm and Blue with the fries and the Hubster had The Dirty Cowboy. Both were delicious! The burgers are cooked medium unless you ask otherwise. It was mouthwatering and wasn't dry at all. The combination of the blue cheese, bacon jam and sriracha mayo works! Those fries though!!!! Exceptional! They are hand cut and cooked in Beef Tallow with a pinch of salt and pepper!!! Amazingly good! I will have to say there was some drawbacks, not show stoppers by any means. The prices are expensive for burgers, which is fine for the 'exotic' combinations they have. I don't mind paying upwards of $19 for one, but was disappointed with the buns. I was expecting the buns to be as exotic as the burgers, but it was an ordinary barbecue bun. It still works, but the bun game needs to be upped. The other thing is we didn't have napkins or utensils. There were no napkins on the table, and let me tell you, these burgers can get messy. We were given one paper towel when I asked for one and still no silverware. Ask for several paper towels and silverware when you go because like I said, it's going to get messy. We will be back to try some of the other combinations they prepare. The food was very good, the staff was attentive, albeit the cutlery and napkins, and the atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Came here with a friend for a late lunch and it did not disappoint. Sat at the bar and Tyler took great care of us. I went with the house burger and fries and it was so yummy. I ate my entire plate. Where do I begin? My husband and I were passing through from out of town after a long road trip when we stumbled upon this place, and I'm so glad we did. On our first visit, we each ordered a burger, and they were absolutely incredible. Mine was so good that I practically inhaled it. While they don't have draft beer, they offer a great selection of canned beers served with ice-cold glasses, which made for a fantastic first experience. A few nights later, we came back for drinks and had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his family. Everyone was so welcoming and genuine. It's clear they truly care about their customers, their food, and creating a memorable experience for everyone who walks through the door. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and my husband tried the Pineapple Old Fashioned. Both were outstanding. We don't enjoy overly sweet Old Fashioneds, and these were perfectly balanced. I also tried a hibiscus cocktail that was creative, refreshing, and equally well-crafted. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with great vibes all around. It feels like one of those hidden gems that you almost don't want to tell anyone about--but it's simply too good not to share. As a bonus, they're getting ready to open a donut shop called Glazed & Dazed. We were lucky enough to get a taste, and let me tell you, it's going to be worth the visit. In the middle of my Mother's Day celebration, I did have a HORRIBLE experience at Food Freaks Hidden Gems, located at 115 E. Innes St. in Salisbury, NC. This was my first time visiting the restaurant. I was in Salisbury attending the 2:30 PM matinee performance of "Intimate Apparel" at Piedmont Players Theatre and decided to grab a quick meal downtown beforehand since I hadn't eaten all day. I arrived at approximately "Food Freaks" 1:40 PM and sat at the bar, where I ordered the House Burger with fries and sweet tea. After waiting approximately 25 minutes without receiving my food, I informed the bartender that I would need the order to go because I had to leave by 2:15 PM in order to arrive at the theatre before curtain time. At 2:15 PM, I reminded the bartender that I needed to leave. She checked on my order and at approximately 2:20 PM offered to refund my money because the food still was not ready. However, just as she was about to process the refund, someone from the kitchen announced that the food was ready. I took the order to my car, which was parked directly in front of the theatre, and attempted to eat a few bites before entering the performance. I first tried the fries, but immediately noticed they tasted as though they had been cooked in seafood or fish grease. I have a shellfish allergy, which I informed the bartender about before ordering, so this was very concerning. I did not eat another fry after the first bite. I then took one bite of the House Burger, and almost immediately my stomach began cramping. I could not continue eating it. Thankfully, I had peppermint candy in my purse to help settle my stomach. The only item from my $20.97 purchase that I actually consumed was the sweet tea. I returned the burger and fries -- and respectfully explained my concerns to the owner. Rather than showing empathy or concern for a customer experiencing stomach pains after eating his food, he refused to refund my money, stating that he "stands by the quality of his food." Well, I stand by my integrity. I had absolutely no reason to fabricate an illness or dissatisfaction. I simply wanted fair customer service after being unable to eat the meal I purchased due to concerns about food preparation and the physical reaction I experienced. Good customer service should include listening to customers, especially when food allergies and illness are involved. Unfortunately, that standard was not met at Food Freaks Hidden Gems. Paying $20.97 for burgers and fries I could not eat -- and then being denied a refund -- made an already disappointing experience even worse. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize this restaurant again. read more

Wowzers!!!!! What a hidden gem. The atmosphere really presented a small town, home feel! The staff were welcoming and the menu provided enough options without making you feel overwhelmed. We ordered the Puff-Mento with crispy fries and the Mel with a cranberry salad. Wow!! The food was prepared to order and was very FRESH!! The patty was seasoned and the bread was soft! The pimento cheese and jam.... Wow! I literally have nothing negative to say about my meal! We plan to return!!!!!! OMG, amazing burgers. If you're a burger snob, this place is as food as it gets. The Old Fashioned features cherries in the actual burger. Sounds insane, right? Heck no. It was amazing. We split it and it was plenty of food. This food truck turned restaurant for good reason. They even cook their french fries in beef tallow. It's burger heaven on earth. Really great experience. Went in on a Thursday around 4:45 to order food for the fam to take home. Yes, it's a little pricey for burgers, but the ingredients they use are top notch, and the unique flavors are completely worth it. Was greeted, treated with great customer service. The lady at the bar who took my order remembered my name from start to finish. Big order came out in only 10 minutes. Definitely recommend the Shroom. Fries are large, homemade and crispy. The Rustic Pear was incredibly unique, though I'd chop the walnuts a bit finer. Then we had one specialty burger advertised that wasn't on the menu. Sweet caramelized onions, smoky house made bbq sauce. Top notch and all the burgers were cooked perfectly. They use great bread buns And the kid menu cheeseburgers??? Best kids menu burger I've ever tried (yes, I totally stole a bite from my daughters' burgers). Same burger they use for the adults, and they put the same care into it as the other burgers. The food at Food freaks is exceptional it is homemade is extremely fresh and made with ingredients that only agree with you . I have had everything on the menu and wish I could do it all again in one sitting . This among a few other restaurants in Salisbury are the only places I go because they are owned by locals and not by huge corporations with big profits and small concerns about us . read more

Amazing food! This was our first time eating here but not our last. We sat at the bar (by choice). There was a wait but tables were being cleaned as soon as customers were leaving. Friendly staff that appeared to work well moving from patron area to kitchen. Bartender was great! Every chair was full and I never heard anyone complain about anything taking too long. He kept the drinks ready for the servers. Our appetizer was out alittle later and arrived right before the food but we didnt even mind because it was obvious everyone was working hard.
