It's a small place, nothing fancy, service is slow but friendly. But if you're looking for great Indian food in the Oshawa/Whitby area this is by far the best curry around. Some places you go to just have food colouring and generic flavours. Food Village offers a wide variety of choices, big menu, good size portions and nice depth of flavour. Our first experience was very disappointing. We were missing a number of items from a combo dinner (salad, 2 kabobs, chutney, etc.), the samosas were cold and our chicken biryani had two pieces of chicken, one of which was literally a bone with no meat on it. We called back and the manager (owner?) offered to repeat the meal for free next time. We ordered again and were told by the same manager we'd have to pay for the extras we bought that were not included in the combo meal (naan and samosas) and delivery. Even though he told us he'd repeat the order, it was only $3 for the food plus delivery. The meal was much better this time, but we were still missing chutney and the samosas (which were one of the things we actually paid for). I would have given a lower rating, but the manager tried to make things right and the food is quite tasty. We ordered online and picked up our order. Quick pickup and easy ordering through Just-Eat.ca The food was OK. Nothing amazing. The Chana masala had a good flavour but was greasy. The lamb biryana was alright. Chicken Jalfrezi was decent... although had bones in it which we weren't expecting. The beef tikka wasn't very good - SO dried out. The garlic naan was delicious. We may try it again but stick to the vegetarian options as the meat wasn't great. Disappointed! read more

I used to live near Bombay Palace in Toronto, and so have been on the lookout for decent Indian food further east where I now live. Food Village is a gem. Nothing fancy. But they make up the dishes individually, offering great value and selection. I love the eggplant Baigan Bharta, spinach and cheese Palak Paneer. Their rice is good. Note that their food is quite hot, and I ask them to tone it down a bit. But it's now my go to place for good Indian food. Worth checking out. And I understand that you can order takeout online. read more

They apparently have been disconnected and it hasn't worked for THREE YEARS! Why no updates? Why no warning? And worst of all, no apology. Ok EVERYONE this is whitbys BEST place to get butter chicken hands down, I can't stop eating it!! I had never ordered Indian food in my life but was so tempted to try it when someone at work ordered it from Food Village. That same night I ordered my own butter chicken with basmatti rice and garlic naan bread and LOVED IT!! Guys for those of you that love already Indian food give them a try and for all the newbies out there you will not be disappointed!! I can't wait to try all their menu items!! They also have been in the buisness for over 10 years in Pickering and now in whitby so you can feel confident that it is very very clean and very very tasty!!! Food is good but they never honour there stated pickup time. They always tell me 15 min and I regularly wait more then 30 min. They false advertise their pricing. Their menu on their website is not the price they charge. When confronted they say they won't honour their pricing on their menu. Paid $7 more then advertised for 3 items. read more

I wouldn't go there again. Service is pathetic. I walked in and no one was on the front. I rang the bell (looks like it is usual for them not to be on the front since they keep a bell to be notified of customer presence) and almost a whole minute later a women decided to bless us with her presence. She didn't say a word, no hello, no welcome, no can i take your order or anything like that but just stood behind the register looking at us. Asuming she was waiting to take our order, we ordered chicken biriani and chicken tikka wrap (daily special). Then we just waited for close to half hour on a take out order. During the entire wait time, there were couple of more people came in, one take out and one dine-in customer but at all time, except for taking the order from the take out customer, no one was at the front and was updating us on why our take out order was taking so long. And then we had a surprice waiting for us when we got our food. When we started eating the food, it appeared that the chicken biriani was not entirely a chicken biriani but a vegetable biriani with couple of pieces of chicken added to it. Veg biriani was the daily special that day and I guess they didn't bother to make any chicken biriani so they just mixed up couple of pieces of chicken on the veg biriani and handed it to us. They way we know because the biriani had all sort of veg in it like peas, carrot, califlower, green bean etc. The ugly women didn't even say thank you or any other word when she handed out our order. Just handed out our order and went back inside to do whatever. For about 10 min, the dine-in customers were siting inside with the menu and no one even bothered to walk up to them to greet them or take their order. First and last time ordering from this place. Placed an order for delivery online and after waiting over an hour for delivery I called to figure out what was going on. The man on the phone said "you're suppose to pick it up." I then said no I have on my end that it says delivery. The man never tried to make it right. I told him to forget about the order and HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! I will make sure to tell all of my friends NEVER to order from this place. That is not what you do to customers. Will never order from here again! It took an hour and a half to get our order and we live on the same city. What we got was wrong and short of what we ordered. Lady at the restaurant was rude and unwilling to compensate except for $2 worth of pop ha. Driver was rude and non apologetic. And the best part, food was cold!!! Never again! read more

If I could give a rating of zero I would. Completely unprofessional and terrible service. I waited over an hour for delivery and when I called to check they said they didn't get it and couldn't do anything about it. After I explained that I had a party waiting for an hour they said it wasn't their problem. And then hung up on me. Once I finally got the food it was band and awful. DO NOT EAT HERE!
