E o pão era levemente crocante com um suave gostinho de manteiga. Amei! O sanduíche de pastrami era bom, mas um pouco seco. [ENG] Okay, it had been a really long time since I ate a burger in SP and reacted like: omg! That's what happened. I took a long time to visit Z Deli because people always said the space was too small and always crowded. Besides that, there ir no air conditioning, which can be pretty annoying in SP's summer. That's why the restaurant doesn't get a 5-star rating. But going back to the delicious part of this review, the burger is truly amaaaaazing! I ordered one called Minetta which has cheddar cheese and caramelized onion. The meat was exaclty medium well as ordered and bread was slightly crunchy with a little taste of butter. LOVED IT. The pastrami sandwich was little bit dry, wasn't that into it. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of fois gras, so I didn't get the famous foie gras burger. However, all of my friends that tried really really really liked it. The regular fries are great! Crunchy and not at all oily :) the fat fries are good, but they get kinda soaked in the sauce, so I prefered the other ones. There's also the pink lemonade, which I thought was bit sweet since it contains "groselha", a really sweet Brazilian drink. I often go back to Z Deli, but try to go on not so busy hours or just get a take out :)

É pequeno, mas nem se compara ao tamanho do Z Deli do Jardins. A maioria dos burgers são diferentes também e nesse eles fazem drinks (uhuuul!!!). Experimentei o chilli burger por causa da apresentação. Ele era bem gostoso, mas como não sou tããão fã de comida mexicana, pediria um outro burger mais convencional mesmo. Minha amiga pediu o Louis Burger, parecido com o Minetta do Jardins, mas ele vem no pão de forma e outro queijo, não o cheddar. Era muito bom, mas preferi o Minetta. Eles tinham alguns drinks próprios e como amo gin, pedi o Gin Garden. A apresentação era super bonitinha e o drink era bem suave e refrescante. Ótimo pro verão e dar uma relaxada! Eles tem vários com Jack Daniels que pareciam interessantes, pena que não gosto muito de whiskey. O restaurante não ganha 5 estrelas pela falta de ar condicionado e valet. So less than 5 mins later we stumble into a glorious sign reading, "MEATS". Sold! Though I can read Portuguese I did appreciate that the menu was available in English as well. In fact, this American inspired eatery was like a business that had been plucked from Portland, Oregon and placed in central Sao Paolo. From the decor to the drink and food menu, everything had an air of American comfort food to it, with a slight Brazilian spin. Instead of just chicken nuggets they had fried chicken hearts! And instead of serving meat well done, it was cooked on the rare side. Very rare. But that was what made the burger fantastic. I know a lot of people are worried about rare meats but having been in Brazil for the previous two weeks and traveled around to various cities and states, I noticed this was a bit of a trend in all of the restaurants I visited. If you haven't had rare beef, you're missing out because Brazilian beef is among the best in the world. To cook it too thoroughly is to kill the flavor. So we dove face first into the burger we shared and enjoyed it thoroughly. The cocktail list was pretty standard and my cocktail bartender boyfriend loved his Negroni. I opted for a whiskey sour and it was pretty decent. We did notice that the drinks were a little pricier than we'd expected, but when the bartender poured a whopping 3 ounces of liquor into the drinks it suddenly all made sense. Leaving will our tummies full and our brains a little foggy from the booze, this was a great first date spot for us on our recent trip to Sao Paolo. Definitely get those chicken hearts!

They were just seared on the outside. I like bloody burgers, but these were not cooked at all. We asked that they be put back on the grill and they said they do not recook, but that they would grill us new burgers. We got the new burgers a few minutes later and they really were not cooked much more. Not sure what the issue is about being able to cook Medium burgers.

Their burgers are juicy, and are made with good quality meat. They're properly seasoned too. St. Louis also completely gets the most essential element of the burger quality equation: they cook the burgers to your exact specification. I asked for mine rare, and that's exactly how they served it; my friend asked for well done, and they did that too :-) Extra points for their house mayonnaise - it's fresh, delicious, and herbed just the way good mayo should be. Last visit, my friend and I shared a strangely delicious dessert - the Bacon Sundae. Having been exposed to this different but tasty treat, I'm definitely going to have to try to duplicate it at home. Over and above the burgers, the ambiance and the vibe are good, and the staff is friendly and helpful. About the only thing I don't like about St. Louis are their chips - they're humdrum, and horribly average. Even when I had them in a "Half and Half" (half onion rings and half chips - known elsewhere as 'frings'), the quantity and quality of the chips was sadly lacking. Inside it definitely has the diner feel to it, with old product signs and pictures on the walls. Most of the options on the menu are american style... however, pastel and feijoada take away from the authenticity. Besides that the food portions are very large. The appetizer of cheddar bacon fries are big enough to be a full meal, and they are delicious. My boyfriend got the power burger and couldn't finish it. The ribs which looked amazing were probably more than I could eat and about R$46, so I decided otherwise. I ordered a combo deal where you choose a hamburger/cheeseburger/cheesedog + fries or onion rings + milkshake for only R$26. I thought that was a really awesome deal, which helped in my decision. They also have cherry coke here which is soooo yummy and reminds me of when I was a little kid.

I finally gave in to my curiosity and decided to try it for myself...and I'm glad I did! I don't eat burgers very often because I try to keep it healthy and most of them are not worth the calorie sacrifice. This one was well worth it! I decided to go all the way with the burger, bacon, cheese, and grilled onions. First thing I noticed was that the burger filled up the bun: no tiny piece of meat hiding inside a huge bun here! Second thing I noticed was that the cheddar cheese completely covered the meat, but didn't hang over so much that it spilled onto the paper instead of the sandwich. Then I bit into it and was happy I finally stopped. From the first bite, it was great: the cheddar cheese had a great melted texture and was just sharp enough. Then I really started to hit the grilled onions by the second or third bite and realized why the lines were so long. I could've just eaten an entire bowl of those grilled onions! Between the sharpness of the cheese, the sweetness of the onions, and the saltiness of the bacon, it really was a great burger. I tried the burger with the mayonnaise (which is served on the side for anyone not a fan of mayo) and am still not a fan of mayo on a burger. I tried some of the mustard that was handy on the counter and felt more at home. But honestly, I ate most of the burger with neither because I didn't NEED mayo, mustard, or ketchup to enjoy the burger! I usually judge my burgers by how messy they are....if you don't need a pile of napkins, then it's just not good. But this burger made me realize a burger can hold its juices well enough to be tasty without having to drip down my arm. Like another reviewer said: they are able to keep it simple because they use great ingredients that are prepared well.
