When concerns were raised about leadership at Foothills Church, we wish we had been aware of the alleged issues prior to attending. Sadly, we were not, but we hope to help you and your family avoid a similar experience by sharing our story. Our family left Foothills in September 2024 after many years of being deeply invested in the church community. In late spring 2024, it came to our attention that there were multiple reported Human Resources concerns regarding Lead Pastor Doug Peake's behavior. It is our understanding that some of these concerns may have been ongoing in prior years. However, rather than addressing these matters in a way we believe aligns with organizational best practices, it appears the church's Elders chose to terminate the Executive Pastor who raised these concerns. Additionally, we observed what felt like a pattern of dismissing or marginalizing staff and congregation members who expressed valid concerns about reported behavior, including comments that were reportedly inappropriate in nature. In our experience, the Lead Pastor and other executive leaders/Elders often respond to those who raise concerns with what feels like personal attacks rather than sincere openness to dialogue. We observed a pattern where individuals who spoke out, whether staff or congregation members, appeared to be criticized or dismissed rather than engaged in reconciliation. This approach left us, and others, feeling silenced and marginalized. In our experience, requests from staff and congregants for an independent investigation were not acted upon. Comments raising serious concerns were also being censored online, and still are. And we observe the same patterns of what feels like attack or bullying to anyone who speaks out. Although Lead Pastor Doug Peake has since announced his retirement, he remains active within the organization as a Pastor Emeritus, a Board of Directors member for the Foothills Corporation, and part of the Elder Board. Leadership involved in handling this situation also remains in key positions. This is a big concern to us. We strongly caution anyone considering this church to proceed with discernment or prayerfully seek one of the many other vibrant churches in the area. read more

I am new to the area and seeking to find a new church home and a place to connect and find fellowship. I am younger, live in an apartment, but a lot of my new neighbors are Mormons. I am not, so I began a deep online search for a church. Online, this church seems to really have it going on. Minus the reviews. I don't leave a lot of reviews, so I didn't pay much attention to those. I've tried a few churches I really liked, but felt led to check this church out. Based on my location, this church would be ideal. However, I was so disappointed and heartsick when I left this church. I have no idea what's going on, but it is not good. The first time I went, I thought it was a fluke. I had worked a double shift at the hospital and just thought maybe it was me being tired and irritable . The second time, people were shouting at the Elder's speaking from up front about some huge scandal they mishandled. Whoa. If it wasn't so sad, I was ready to get some popcorn. Major drama at this church. The worship was so odd and not very worshipful. I guess I really wanted to like this church or was curious about what was going on/ or what might happen this week because I actually went back for a 3rd Sunday. This time, I actually heard the Pastor speak. I was confused because the weeks previous, they mentioned this pastor was gone. He did not pray. I'm not sure how you can coach me up in my faith if you're not gonna invite in the Holy Spirit or my Lord and Savior in to the service? I've never experienced that. Also, he just seemed over it. Like he didn't want to be there. I guess the reviews were right, even the ones they don't recommend to read on yelp. They were right on the money in a lot of instances. So sad. It's true some churches go through drama because church is full of hurt people, who do hurt people, but I'm guessing the reason this church is still open is because the school that is attached to it pays all the bills. I would keep looking. This doesn't feel or act like The Bride of Christ. read more

When I attended Foothills church, also went to a men's group led by our home group pastor. At the meetings I sometimes asked for prayer for my marriage. The first time he met my wife he mentioned what a beautiful wife I had. Three weeks later he called me to meet him and talk. When we met he asked about marriage counseling, not for myself or us as a couple, only one on one individual marriage counseling for my wife. I thought that a man counseling may give a different perspective. I agreed since I considered him a godly Christian man who I trusted and considered him a mentor. After we talked I never heard from him with an update or how counseling was going. Never. My wife never said anything about counseling. Not where when, nothing. I would see his number on her phone but she had no response when I asked. After months I began to ask if she was having an intimate relationship with him. She would never answer yes or no. Just a blank stare. To this day she has never denied the affair. When I was able to explain what return to home group I found out that he had stepped down as pastor and would not be returning?? I can't explain what I was going through and will never trust my wife after this whole ordeal. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, he will come out to devour its prey for its satisfaction. Beware of who you trust as godly Christians, especially pastors and leaders. read more

Spoke to more recent staff about the current problems and they said it's getting worse. They are not in a position to speak up and try to help fix the situation because they know will be fired. The pastor Doug, was let go and they told everyone he was going on a " leave of absence " and they didn't know when he'd be back. Next week he was preaching. Zero explanation. How many lives does this cat have? How sad. Check the "unrecommended reviews "they had removed for some ppl telling truth. Albeit some not very Christ- Like reviews. Just do your due diligence. Incredible ministry staff and an outstanding new Lead Pastor. Their ministry focus is to honor The Bible and Jesus's teachings. I travel across the country to coach and consult churches and recently served this church. It is a remarkable community. Truth and relationship are its guiding principles. They have great kids ministry and use technology in the auditorium effectively, which enhances their music ministry. Small groups are the heartbeat of the church, and prayer is ongoing. Give it a try, I think you'll love it. read more

I've attended this church for a little over a year now. I have loved and enjoyed this church since the first service with Pastor Doug grilling steak on stage to now with our new Interim Pastor. I've always been warmly welcomed as I've walked through the door. I am now serving and joined a bible study with my wife. We have made some amazing friends in Christ. The support everyone has for each other at FHs is nothing like I've ever seen before. It's truly unbelievable. This church is our home. read more

Something is very off with this church. Usually one can tell if a church is a strong bible teaching church and filled with the spirit. We heard some rumors about unbiblical behavior from the upper staff but still wanted to give the church a try to get a feel for ourselves. We went with friends and our kids don't want to go back and also didn't get a good feeling. Douglas Peake is the pastor. read more
