There's also a museum there with lots of great history. It's called the Steam Pump Ranch. Some of the docents are really a type of living history. One of them was the former mayor in Oro Valley. In the past I have met family members who grew up on the ranch as docents, The museum still has a history of the ranch as a focus in one area and they focus on the 250 year history of the USA with an Arizona emphasis on another. Lots of dogs and some of them are quite friendly...you still have to be dog smart.. The vendors were friendly and helpful with information about their products... There is a wide variety of fresh products for sale. They have a website that lists a lot of the vendors. They have several locations around they have fresh hot food vendors, grocery food vendors,a couple of bakeries, health and wellness vendors,and artisans. It's always fun to enjoy the fresh smells from roasting chili's to pupusas, homemade burritos, Korean Barbecue, baked goods and homemade soups! My friend wished there was flowers but other than that we were pleasantly surprised by the vast selection of vendors and products! The produce is best in the morning! I bought a cheesecake at around 8:15am and then she kept it in the cooler for me. she said she would be there until noon but she started packing up early. Next time i would go back at 11am because many vendors start packing up earlier than they say they would. Understandable... I was staying there the whole duration as my friend couldn't meet me until later at 10am. So I ended running up and catching the vendor in her truck ready to drive away and i got my cheesecake whew it was close!

There are weeks you can just drive up and make your selection immediately and then there are times you have to wait in a long line and when you get to the front your options are very limited. Either way they post their menu on Facebook every week and the selection is still pretty great. All of the staff are always upbeat and very friendly and helpful. I'm grateful that they are finding a way to continue doing this!

They have a decent deli section and they do made to order sandwiches there. I appreciate their produce and dry bulk items ( lentils, nuts etc) and find their prices to be comparable... and sometimes cheaper than other local stores but not overall or for everything. They do charge 10 cents for their plastic bags ... but their bags are sturdy and reusable... or you can bring your own bag. I have shopped at sprouts over the years... this was the first time I was offered an ice pack for meats- super helpful living in the desert. I was told that if ever someone forgets to offer me an ice pack, I can request one and was shown where it is located if I just needed to grab an ice pack for my items... no questions asked. Made for a great girls day out. The weather was breezy and agreeable for a morning of great fun and purchasing. I diid a little early Christmas shopping too. Found out later from some other Yelpers that this particular farmer's market was more of a "vendors optional" approach, meaning no consistency and vendors show up when they feel like it. Unfortunately, unless this farmer's market finds a larger location, the potential to improve is more or less zero. If they could find a larger space and have vendors show up on a weekly basis, this place could have huge potential just for the fact that it is downtown.
