The student body is a little hard to pin down; this is not a school where jocks and cheerleader-types rule...individualism reigns. Groups are less discrete with a lot of blurring of the lines. If there are divisions, they're more academic, with the college-bound kids knowing each other from class, and the same for the less-academic kids. One reason for BHS's success is the culture in the elementary and junior high schools that feed into it. These kids come to BHS knowing that making good grades is not uncool and what they should be doing to earn them.

I originally became interested in Sage because my daughter left 6th grade at Christine Donnell School of the Arts (a charter school in Meridian Joint District 2) and entered Lake Hazel Middle School as a 7th grader. Lake Hazel is so overcrowded that I felt that the curriculum wasn't being taught very efficiently - my daughter wasn't being challenged. In addition to that issue, the overcrowding was obnoxious to the point of severe frustration and anger. (But that's a whole different review). So, Sage attracted my attention because of the small class sizes and challenging curriculum. It has been wonderful! Sage is a school where a student can really push his or herself. My daughter is in 8th grade, but most of her classes are combined with 9th graders, and she's in 10th grade advance math. Not to brag, but it's nice to have the option of moving ahead if you're smart enough. By staying challenged and pushing herself, I know that she's not getting into trouble. In addition, Sage doesn't have a gym. instead they go out into the community for Urban PE. The also don't have a library, but instead take walking field trips as often as needed to the city library (conveniently located in their neighborhood). This has helped my somewhat shy daughter become more comfortable in an urban (yes, I know it's not Seattle or LA) environment. I did take off one star because they don't offer traditional sports programs. My daughter plays soccer and runs cross country, but Sage doesn't get out until after 4pm (they have longer hours, but then no school on Friday's). Because of their longer hours, my daughter can't even participate in sports at another school - she can't get there early enough for practices or games/meets. There are work arounds of course. She has been able to play soccer in a community league and Sage has implemented a lunch time running club. I also took off a star because Sage only offers French. I feel like the reality is that we live in a country where a huge percentage of the population speaks Spanish and it should at least be an option. The work around has been to take Spanish during school hours with the IDLA system. It's not ideal. She is an advanced Spanish student and was forced to take beginning Spanish this year, as you have to start IDLA at the beginning, but at least its something. Sage also has an Elementary/Middle school. It's at a different location, on Parkcenter Blvd. They just opened the new campus this years, having taken over the old Parkcenter Mall location.

My child never had a problem making friends, a sports team and has attended Catholic High Schools prior to Bishop Kelly. My daughter, a cheerleader said she never thought kids could be so nasty. The staff will do nothing to keep your teenager safe. I guess... Once Upon a Time prior to 2014/2015 this was a great school. In December 2021 almost 2022 this school in my experience has been exactly what I read on the 1&2 star reviews on all the sites that allow reviews. 2016 to current is when the problems started at Bishop Kelly. Wish I read the reviews before paying over $15K to this school. We are new to this school this year in 2021/2022. My child will not be attending in Jan. 2022. This school is a HORRIBLE school. This is not a practicing Catholic School. The school wants your money, especially the ones like my family who don't receive aid. Their very nice up until fees are paid and contract signed. After that, consider yourself lucky if the return an email. They ghost ya!

With many Christian schools, it seems that faith is put on top of curriculum, like frosting on a cake. I've seen at CVCS that faith is baked into the cake itself. For example, every parent/teacher conference is opened in prayer, each child is prayed over when considering classroom placement, and Christianity permeates every aspect of academics and social activities. If you live in the Treasure Valley and want a solid education for your kids, as well as having them surrounded by positive role models, I strongly recommend Cole Valley!

St. Mary's students primarily head to Bishop Kelly, where they have a strong reputation of being academically prepared as well as being some of the most welcoming and kind students around. Many of the teachers are pretty decent, but the school tilts WAY to the left. The non-woke portions of the curriculum are good, especially the math and outdoor-centric programs. However, we did put our son in a different international school and he was way behind in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. His new school has these as stand-alone classes starting in Grade 5. Not so at Riverstone.

My children attended the school for 4+ years. We were fortunate enough to be able to skip the…read morewaitlist as we were moving from another Nobel Learning Community school in another state. My children had experience with 3 main teachers, two of whom were fantastic. The classrooms are set up with one main teacher who has to have Montessori certification and one assistant teacher who does not have to be certified in Montessori education. There is one classroom for toddlers (ages 2-3) and 6 other classrooms (ages 3-6/kindergarten). The upper classes have about 22 students/teacher+ assistant. I assume that each school is as good as the staff/teachers who work there. Children can start as young as 2 years old in room 1. The main teacher in room 1 Ms Rose was very patient, loving, and had everything under control. Other teacher in room 6, Ms Kat, was the best teacher I've ever met. She made sure that children were learning, came up with various aids/behavioral strategies when children were struggling and she is very dedicated to teaching. She was always busy teaching the children, working with them, and making sure they were learning. My other child who moved up from room one to another classroom had a less than desirable experience as he did not learn much in his upper class and we ended up transferring him (after addressing our concerns first with that teacher and then the principal) to room 6 and the amazing Ms Kat who brought him up to speed in less than 10 months! The principal, Ms Lila is a very lovely lady, knows everyone by name, and runs the school well. Her door is always open and she is always available to listen to concerns and answer questions as needed. The school organizes a few events during the year and it feels like the staff is putting a lot of effort into providing the children with nice learning environment. Overall, I'd recommend the school but make sure you are on top of what your child is learning.

She is totally professional and the BEST teacher. We feel so lucky to have her. Miss Cari was her assistant and I think she is in school to become an official teacher and we also think the world of her. She had cute inside jokes with our son and was always bringing a smile to his face. The school is clean, safe, organized and I always felt comfortable having our kids here. We will miss this school!
