My experience at Footprints Beachside Recovery was truly life-changing. Through their program, I was able to experience 90 days of sobriety and gain a completely new perspective on life. The therapists were compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my recovery. My therapist, in particular, helped me work through challenges and develop the tools I needed to move forward with confidence. While I did not stay in the housing program, I saw firsthand how much effort the staff puts into supporting clients at every level of care. From transportation to AA meetings and recovery-focused activities to team-building events and recreational outings, they do an excellent job creating a supportive environment. One of the unique aspects of the program is its location--the beach is only a short walk away, providing a peaceful place for reflection and healing. Recovery is never easy, but Footprints Beachside Recovery gave me the structure, support, and encouragement I needed during an important chapter of my life. I only gave one star because I am unable to give zero. This facility allowed two people (vulnerable addicts) who were engaged to other people to have and continue an affair on their property knowing that that is completely incongruent with recovery and what they should be practicing. It's extremely clicky and every other patient knew about the affair as well, and promoted it. Do NOT send your loved ones here if you're looking for an honest and healthy environment. read more

Very helpful and thorough program. I feel I got the help and counseling that I needed and I have continued on to the next step of sobriety.

I attended this place from 3/31/2016-5/12/2016. Initially it appeared to be a warm, small, welcoming place. The staff appeared nice and well knowledgeable in their field....Unless you are over 21 and have any type of post-secondary education. I wont go into specifics because I've grown from the experience tremendously. But i'll give you the gist: As an educated, African American Woman over 35 seeking self-willed treatment for alcoholism--this placed could've harmed me had I not had the ability to think for myself and assist myself. Long story, Short--I was unexpectedly discharged with this reason: We don't know how to help you. Whatever that means. But in rehab, you usually get kicked out for violence, relapse, harm to yourself or others--I did nothing....I was even slapped/assaulted by an attendee--I did not hit her back nor request she be kicked out--as a trained Social Worker, I knew her struggle and understood; however, I was not given the same courtesy. Again, I was discharged with no case management assistance and nowhere to go. I found another treatment center--ON MY OWN--my flight didn't leave for a few days. I checked myself into a hotel room and waited. Alone. No follow-up calls from the facility--nothing. I was sad and depressed and just gotten kicked out of rehab for no other reason than BEING BLACK. PERIOD. --oh, the OWNER said something about, "Your insurance isn't paying for this..." the last day I was there--I didn't know that when I checked in as I shared all my insurance info before I got there..... I relapsed in that hotel-and thank GOD I DIDNT DIE, THANK GOD I AM ONLY AN ALCOHOLIC AND NOT A HEROIN/ETC. ADDICT---They usually die with improper case management and discharge. After missing my first flight the first time, The place I went to in California had a car service come to my hotel room and get me out of it. Flew me to California where I had the most therapeutic 8 months of my life! No thanks to Footprints. I could go on about my experience there in the "beachside" community of Treasure Island, FL....or about the recovery community as a whole there. Everyday the "other" cultures are suffering in LOUD SILENCE and when asked why we don't get treatment--it's always a "well culturally they don't believe in help." This may be true, however, when WE do get to these so called "rehabs" we are mistreated, misunderstood, ostracized, and treated like we are a contagious disease full of violence and homicidal tendencies....we're not. As someone who is from a good family, never been arrested or committed any crime--I went to rehab with people on harsh drugs, prostitutes, state involvement with their kids, etc...I never feared them and looked at them as I would anyone--human. I gave understanding but never received any back. What did I need understanding for?....idk--not smiling every second of every day -not being a smoker -not being in rehab b/c my parents made me go -or b/c my kids were threatened to be taken away -for generally being in rehab b/c I REALIZED I drank too much on my own -not being white (?) That was over 2 years ago. Footprints showed me what wasn't right, but I didn't know until I saw that it could be different at another facility in a more diverse setting. I hope you all are doing better and at least willing to LEARN about others different from yourself. The owner boasts about his sobriety; however, getting drunk one good time and killing someone is a horrible act--not really sure if that constitutes being an alcoholic or a binge drinker --and running a rehab- more of a guilty conscience and some extra money laying around....maybe I'm wrong in that assessment; but, maybe I'm right. I saved my own life. Adulting works. --I've heard few reviews of this place; none of them diverse. All of them from a certain general demographic. Possibly the best month of my life was spent here. I haven't touched alcohol in almost two years. Footprints was my first stop on my road to recovery, and I haven't needed the help of any other rehabilitation center. I strongly recommend. Not crowded, each person gets important one-on-one psychotherapy, and the completed homework assignments, whether you choose to do them or not, are very great motivators for checking one's own inventory, and they are returned with feedback and helpful suggestions with going forward. read more

After three months of research I decided that Footprints was the right place for me to get my life back. It was the best decision I have ever made. I was scared, alone, drug addicted, mentally unstable, a hopeless human being when I first arrived at Footprints. I knew I wanted to change my life but I had no clue how to do that. Footprints offers not only a therapeutic approach but a holistic one as well. Holistic approaches include yoga, acupuncture, expressive arts, personal training, massage and nature days. Therapeutic approaches include two individual counseling sessions per week, DBT (dialectic behavioral therapy), gender specific groups, family dynamics, psychodrama, self esteem building and a safe environment to process the most sensitive of topics. Footprints is not a corporate run, money hungry, turn and burn institution. Footprints is a family owned, boutique style inpatient treatment center that truly cares about every client. I was made to feel like a family member. Specifically, John Templeton was there for me from the beginning to the end and his door was always open. John's door is still open for me to this day. Today I am six months clean and sober. This is the longest period of sobriety I have had in 25 years. I have a new life. I am happier and healthier than I have ever been. I could not be more grateful I chose Footprints. It has been and continues to be everything I wanted and more. I am truly grateful to John and Footprints for helping me and supporting me in my sobriety. I sent my daughter to Footprints and after being somewhat experienced in this arena, I can say that this is a one of a kind, top notch treatment center that provides above-and-beyond care and programming to it's clients. The accommodations are beautiful, as is the gorgeous and relaxing beach next door, however, the best part of this program in my opinion are the caring and talented therapists, techs and administration who work with the clients on a daily basis. John Templeton, president/owner, cares about each and every client and always does what he thinks is in the clients best interest. A substance abuse treatment program is only as good as the therapy (group and individual) and care provided, because young people's drug use is often a symptom of a greater problem they are facing such as loss of self-esteem, anxiety or depression, being in an abusive dating relationship, etc. This program goes way beyond the typical focus of many highly regarded conventional programs which focus more on teaching "do not do drugs, this is why you don't do drugs, this is how you stay away from triggers so you don't do drugs ". At Footprints, during individual and group therapy, all of these conventional things are addressed, but the focus is often on the root of the problems people -or the individual - are facing. I say this because my daughter attended an excellent and prominent out of state rehab that did provide an excellent program. Unfortunately, many people with addictions do relapse for varying reasons. My daughter did just one month after a very successful 60 day stay at this other rehab. I ended up bringing my daughter to Footprints upon first sign of relapse, based upon the highest recommendation of a prominent therapist my daughter went to who had been the former Clinical Director at Footprints. My daughter did not want to go, she fought going back to another rehab, and ultimately, she ended up having a very meaningful and life changing experience while there. I can say with confidence that all the therapists were very good, and the individual therapy my daughter received from EJ was exceptional; it was something that my daughter felt helped her most in exploring the root of her addiction. Another great thing about Footprints is that a parent can sleep at night knowing that everyone there really cares about his/her child. The clients are treated with respect and dignity, like adults and quality human beings, even when the clients may not feel that way about themselves or always act themselves.
