Liz was awesome! Super helpful and patient. I came in with recommendations from my podiatrist, and honestly, I hate buying new shoes. They're expensive, and when you need them for comfort and support, you really don't want to get it wrong. I spent over an hour here and never felt rushed once. The store started getting really busy, and there were a few customers complaining, but she handled everything like a total pro while still making sure I felt taken care of. Because we have some minor foot problems (primarily plantar fasciitis), we like coming to Footwear etc. because they have the right kind of shoes and other accessories to help these conditions, and knowledgeable staff who can assist us with our choices. The shoe selection is carefully curated - and by that I mean that you'll only find higher-quality footwear, but also that your selections are going to be limited. For the men's shoes, there very limited choices for dress shoes, needed for my work, and I'm on my feel for a lot of the day. In fact, on a recent trip there really only was one pair of Eccos that would have worked. There are more casual, non-athletic men's shoes, and a larger selection of sneakers like Hoka. They have an okay rewards program - you get a point for every buck you spend, and when you accumulate 300 points then you get $20 off your next purchase. Essentially it's about a 6.7% rebate, and it hooks you back in to spend even more money! Be aware of the expiration dates of the rewards, however. Look out for brochures or emails with a 15% coupon as well. read more

Whenever I need to look for a pair of comfortable, stylish shoes. My favorite place to go is footwear. Etc in Los Gatos. In fact, it's the only place I go to purchase shoes. I've been shopping here for the last 25 years. When I first stopped to look for a pair of shoes, Claudia, who knows anything and everything about shoes help me find a pair of shoes that were exactly what I was looking for. After that, I always ask Claudia for advice and she comes through. I've never had problems with my feet wearing their shoes. Claudia recommended. I was a teacher and on my feet all day and needed shoes that I could wear throughout the day. All their shoes are high-quality, very stylish and you wouldn't even know you were on your feet all day. I highly recommend the store, Claudia will treat you as a VIP customer. I give this store a 10+. read more

I really like Footwear etc because they carry a wide range of comfortable womens' shoes. I am somewhat hard to fit having a wide toe box, bunions, narrow heel, more narrow midfoot, and sometimes I have heel pain, so I need good arch support. I was measured by Claudia and found out that I have been wearing much too small shoes--at least one full size too small. They have a rather neat foot scanning machine that measures both feet and suggests the proper size shoes to wear. They often have sales on several of the brands that I like, for example, Taos, Brooks, and OnFoot. As I have to replace quite a few shoes, I appreciate that there are several locations in the Bay Area, too, like in Cupertino and Willow Glen. However, I usually shop in the Los Gatos store. If something isn't in the store they will check their inventory and send it to your home, which is convenient. The one improvement I would like to see is being able to try the shoes out and return them after wearing them for awhile when they don't work out because many times a shoe will feel fine in the morning during a try on in the store, but might not work in real life when one's foot swells in hot weather over the course of the day. Let's face it some of the shoes like Hoka and Naot are pretty expensive. read more

I was in need of a pair of good running shoes and the service I received here was absolutely awesome. The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful, he spent a lot of time making sure I found the best fitting shoes for running. I wear size 5 and it's really hard to find size 5 anywhere else but they carry Hoka shoes in 5 here. The running socks he recommended me are so comfy and won't slide off inside my shoes. Small store with a small selection, but they say they only carry the best of the brands so I assume that's why the selection is limited. I mean, the less options I had, the easier it was for me to choose a shoe, so it was kinda a win. I came here with a doctor's recommendation (which also provided me 10% off..aka tax off) during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was the only customer in the store. Good cleanliness: they limited the number of people in the store, took my temperature, and there was hand sanitizer available. From entering a nice lady helped me every step of the way. She showed me the different shoes that my doctor recommended and laid out the different options. She was very nice and helped get a few different sizes from the back so I could try it on. My husband can be somewhat stubborn and unwilling to try new things- so when Caesar gained his trust right away and showed him some of the things going on with his feet- we were actually able to get some shoes that will provide the support my husband needs. I recently moved to the Bay Area from London, my wife and I are running the SF Marathon in July so we wanted to buy a new pair of Hoka trainers, as we haven't owned Hokas before I bought my pair first and then a week later I bought two pairs for my wife ( size 7.5 and 8) as a surprise. I took the trainers home, my wife tried them both to help her decide which fitted her better (as anyone will do). I came back to the store with my original receipt to return one pair but they wouldn't accept my return - unbelievable! Retail should be about a good customer experience, and building a good journey for when you buy or any other scenario. On top of that they told me that a manager was going to get in touch within 48hrs, it has been 7 days and I Haven't heard anything... My advise is go shop somewhere else, don't trust them. read more

I wanted to order what I saw online. They didn't have it in store so I asked a skinny, about 5'10" white man with glasses to order it but he REFUSED to order it online for me. Told me to do it at home for home delivery so that they can charge me shipping. He told me they don't have any rockport in my size anywhere but I went online to see that they were in fact available. I called my regular store in Los Altos and they took the phone order for me. I needed a certain type of shoe inserts for my heel pain per doctor's recommendation. After researching on-line and wondered about what size to order (between S and M), I decided to check it out at Footwear Etc. I knew the store existed for a long time, never thought about visiting until last Thursday. Upon entering I noticed many of the good brands of comfort shoes on display; the gentleman greeted me warmly and appeared very knowledgeable about fitting the inserts. It turned out that the small ones were the exact same size as the regular inserts; so it was a perfect fit. Had I not visited the store, I mostly likely would've ordered a medium and then had to trim it down significantly. Not only the service was excellent, I also received 10% discount plus a $10 off which made the purchase very reasonable. Will definitely visit again. read more

When I first walked into the store, they welcomed me in, it was great. The store didn't seem bad. As recommended by my podiatrist, she directed to this store. I tried on a pair of Hoka One One and asked the sales associate who was helping me at the time, Greg, if this pair of shoe is good for bunions and he confidently says yes because it's made of mesh and blahblahblah. He proceeds to tell me that I don't have a bunion, and that others with bunions would laugh at me saying I don't have a bunion (because it's not as prominent and not as severe). I didn't think that was funny at all. BUT, regardless, a bunion is a bunion and should be taken care of to ensure the bunion does not worsen. I came back the next day to exchange for a smaller size. Greg knew exactly why I came back and went straight away to get the other pair of shoes. Noticing the beat up shoe box he comes back with, I specifically asked him for a new pair so that I can break them in while I'm in the house before wearing them out. He responds with "oh these just came in today" and opens the beat up box he was holding, only for me to see that it was the same pair I tried on the day before with the bottom of the shoe a dirty dark color. You didn't fool me, GREG. I did not want to argue so I left with the shoes. An hour after wearing the shoes, my "not-so-visible" bunion was A C H I N G. Mind you, my bunion had NEVER hurt before this. I messed up on my part for not looking at the reviews for these specific shoes before making the purchase. But Greg wasn't an honest sales associate. When we, as customers, are shopping for things that will help improve our health, we would rather support a store that we trust will give accurate information to better our health. I wanted to try on a pair of UGG boots to visit my daughter in OK this Christmas. They will give me the warmth and comfort for the forecasted ice and snow. I called around to local stores after I googled UGGs and many of the shoe stores I called didn't carry them. I called Footwear etc and found out they had my size in stock at the Cupertino store. I went there and tried them on and found that they fit perfectly. The young woman who helped me was very knowledgeable about the boots and recommended a good water and stain protector spray to ensure that I can wear them again year after year. I was impressed with her sales skill and would highly recommend this store. Besides boots, they had lots of shoes and my preferred brand of socks. I will certainly go back there again. read more

I had a horrible experience here today at this store. I purchased a pair of indoor slippers for my dad online and all we did was just have my dad try them on in our kitchen, that's all. They are too big and he doesn't like the materials so I have to return them. I bring them to this store today because I shop here all the time and just made a purchase here 2 weeks ago for my own shoes. A guy named Jonathan took them and told me that they are not new, he keep saying "you have worn them so we can't return", I said "no we never wear them", he kept saying that we have worn them and with this really contempt attitude, like "oh you think you can lie to me" face. I told him it is not about the return or money, we never wear them. Then he said "ok, I will make an exception for you and return them" but I was not happy because why "exception"? The shoes are brand new. Then we got into a little argument and he refused to serve me and ask me to come back tomorrow when a manager is here. WHY? Why would I waste my time to come back just because he is really mean to a customer? So I called the 1800 customer service right away in the store, and the CS lady call the store and Jonathan still told them that they are being worn already. So they ask me to send a photo of the shoes. I took the shoes to the front of the store and took photos on their front door carpet. then send it to them right away. They finally call the store and ask them to return to me...But why do I have to go through all of the drama to return brand-new shoes??? Then here comes the worst part, just as I finish taking the photo, another gentleman named Mourad step out with my car key, I was so mad that I left my key on their countertop. he was so so so rude, he hang this key in his hand and hand in front of my face and said "Watch out for your own stuff" then he asked me " What do you want " . I can't believe what I just heard because he doesn't remember me as I always wear a mask, but I purchased a couple of shoes with him before. I didn't say a word, because he is way older than me and I want to show respect to seniors all the time. I bring the shoes back again to the cashier and Mourad tried to yell at me again, I told him " I am only going to talk if you can calm down, because really you don't know what happened here" then he calm down a little but still with a really really rude attitude. the same thing, he asked me to come back tomorrow with a manager without even looking at the shoes. (I posted pictures here). Honestly, this is the worst shopping experience in my entire life, I am still a little sad while I am typing this message, not sure what is going on in this world. In the future, I will start going to the Los Altos store instead of this one. today really hurts my feelings. Waste of time. On 10/3/22 at 11:15 a.m. I entered the store planning to purchase a new pair of HOKA shoes that were the same size and brand as the HOKA'S I was wearing. A tall young man standing at the register asked if he could help me. I gave him my shoe size and told him I would like to get another pair of the same shoes that I was wearing. He left to go in the back to where I assume they kept their stock of shoes. However, he returned without any shoes then went to the register to help two ladies who were ready to purchase shoes. A few minutes later, A thin bald salesclerk with facial hair under his nose wearing a black face mask over his mouth and chin with a heavy accent came out from the back room looking at another client who just walked in and then to me and asked if he could help whoever was next. I said yes, gave him my shoe size and said I would like to get the same type of HOKA's that I was wearing. He left, returned with another brand of HOKA's, realized they were different and went back into the stock room to look for the correct pair. Then he came out empty handed and said, "I have bad news, we don't have the HOKA's in your size. However, we can order the shoes and they can be here in a couple of days." I told him that would be okay. He ushered to the cash register then asked me for my phone number. I gave it to him. He confirmed my name that he had associated with the phone number I gave him. He then said, "Oh, I don't have your address." I told him that I can give him my address but I do not want the shoes coming to my house that I'ld rather pick them up from the store. I explained that I didn't want to risk a porch thief taking the delivered package." He said, "You can pick the shoes up from the store, I just need to know where to send the package, not a whole background story." I was offended and left the store and I decided to take a chance with a porch pirate rather than deal with a clerk who for some reason would rather insult me, make me wait while he looks for the wrong shoes and miscommunicate with me that he can have the shoes here which I thought meant at the store not my home in a couple of days. If I wanted the shoes delivered to my house I could just order them online myself. I stopped by to pick up a pair of orthotics that my podiatrist recommended to correct my over pronation, and she cut right to the chase with a scan of my foot (to determine what type of arches I have) and picked out the recommended orthotics for me to try as well as a pair of shoes that I could try them with. Like I said, fabulous..and thorough! :) I was in and out in under 20 minutes with a pair of orthotics and a much better idea of what I should be looking for in a pair of running shoes. But what really stood out to us is the outstanding customer service! We came here to get proper fitting shoes for my wife upon referral from the podiatrist. Yadira is a gem and we highly recommend looking for her when you shop here. She was so helpful, patient, and knowledgeable on what my wife needed for her feet type and condition. She even determined that my wife had narrow feet (which we never knew!) and recommended the proper shoes. I was so impressed by her knowledge and service that I also asked for her recommendation for a pair of shoes for my feet type. She patiently let me try different shoes with different types of insoles and explained what I needed to look out for to get a proper fit and support. We walked out of the store as happy customers. I have been shopping at Footwear etc in Cupertino for many years. I find their service to be excellent and the sales people have been always very helpful. A few weeks ago I bought a new type of New Balance shoes. I liked them so much that I bought two pair. I them wore them for about two weeks and went back to the store to get a different type because the ones that I were wearing uncomfortable. Greg Billman looked up the receipt and saw that it was only a few weeks before. I he said we have a 30 day return policy. I didn't know that and he said why don't you go back to your previous type of shoe. I got a brand new pair he said come back tomorrow with the other pair and the store will give me another pair. First time in my life I've specifically gone to a shoe store looking for real comfort and not style! The young lady in the store was great. She asked me "How can I help you?" I said, "I'm looking for comfortable shoes." Hahaha.....she's like your in the right place! So she helped me figure out what exactly I liked by having me try on almost 10 pairs of shoes with and without socks, nylons, etc...everything possible to help me select some comfort for my lil feet. (Luckily I came here at the EOD when no one else was in the store, otherwise I don't think I would have received such great 1 on 1 service. The service is slow, but they ACTUALLY TRY TO HELP YOU!!) Other Services they offer: -Stretching shoes (so you don't have to break your feet trying to "break in" some of the shoes like Dansko clogs) -Podiatrist is coming in on April 10th to help people with feet problems and recommend some shoes (you don't have to pay to see the foot Doc!) :-D The pricing is not that different from anywhere else you look for these type of shoes.
