Clearly everyone else knew about this place because there is always a a couple people hanging around. They serve allpress beans and dish up quite a good cuppa for 'burbs coffee'- in fact it's the best coffee I've found in Avalon so far. I came here after a post beach lunch and went for the spinach, goat cheese, cherry tomato and avocado on rye toast which was pretty awesome- a solid half a star of this rating is attributed to that super tasty rye bread alone. They also do fresh juices- I tried the pineapple, mint, ginger and something juice which was pretty tasty. They staff were really chilled and friendly and the guy didn't care at all that I changed my order like 3 times. They were also going above and beyond to help give a recommendation to a couple not from around here about a nice restaurant in the area. Really enjoyed this place and kicking myself I didn't discover it 10 years ago!

The beaches are now beaming with good coffee, so I am was extremely disappointed with the level of coffee. The food here is not bad, but it is not good. It is quite average. On the plus side the food is served on the larger portion side, and is reasonably priced. But again there is better cafes on the Northern Beaches, and so I was again disappointed. So in summary, I probably won't be coming back to this cafe, even though it looked good.

I just got off the nearby ferry after visiting folks at Elvina Bay and wanted a snack to take back to my home away from home. Huge selection made it difficult, but I got what I wanted. There were a couple of things that let this place down - they seemed to be struggling with the amount of people that were there. Although the food arrived promptly, we were all pretty squashed in, and we also observed the owner or manager of this place being quite rude to his staff and some of the customers, including my father being told off because his seat was at a funny angle - only because we were so cramped to begin with. We also had some meals that were missed, delivered to the wrong table or delivered minus the required cutlery On a quieter day this place would be ideal, But i don't think i will rush back there on a Sunny Sunday.

The seating is more ample and the shop is less busy by virtue of being off the highway. I love their Vanilla Lattes. For afternoon tea, it is always fun to nibble on their delicious Bruschetta. Entry is from the small car park to the left side of the building (not the main council car park located to the right). I visited on a cold and rainy day, possibly the worst time to take advantage of the location, and it was still lovely. Warmed by an outdoor heater, the seating is outdoor undercover. Orders are placed at the counter, but food is delivered to the table. Seating is comfortable but not luxurious. The staff were very friendly and highly attentive. The menu is all day breakfast or lunch, prices aren't cheap but based on quality of fare I would say they are reasonable. I ordered a full breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, toast and hash brown. The menu price was $20 which is at the upper end of what I'd expect to pay for a cafe breakfast. I asked for them to hold the hash brown as I didn't want it. What arrived was a mountain of good food. 3 full bacon rashers, 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 beef sausages, 3 slices of premium loaf toast, a halved grilled tomato and sauted mushroom. I have to assume they added extra bacon in lieu of the hash brown because there was no room left on the plate for anything else. It was delicious, pure and simple. Perhaps it was the cold weather, perhaps it was the cosy warmth of the heater, perhaps it was waiting until midday for breakfast. Even accounting for all those things, the food was delicious. The bacon was premium quality, the eggs were free range, the sausages were gourmet, everything was cooked perfectly. We asked for a coffee and that came in a big mug, ready to warm the hands, perfectly suited to the day. Maybe it was a one off to have such a good experience, and it helps when you're not expecting it, but I will be heading back here.
