Was pleasantly surprised at the course conditions, and how nicely the greens rolled. My concern was when I walked in the door and showed my coupon, which was not expired, I was told by the person helping me that my coupon was not good on the weekend. Nowhere on the coupon did it indicate or state that the coupons were not valid on the weekends. When I discussed this with the person helping me, he basically shrugged it off and said "too bad". It's unfortunate since it's one of the nicer courses around but, when the staff treats you like that, and they falsely advertise a reduced price (even though it was only a couple of dollars) it makes the whole experience bad.

The course is not overly long at 6770 yards from the back tees and 5830 form the white tees and for the ladies 4930 . Five holes border two lakes, lake Lotelo and Little Lake Bonnett and was originally built in 1926 as part of The Pincrest Hotel and resort, the hotel is long gone but the course is in great shape and was renovated 3 years ago the club house has a wonderful resturant that was renovated 2 years ago, pricing is $35 with an electric cart, food is reasonable and good. Winter and summer rates were the same last time I was there, the coursae has many elevated greens that are smooth and reasonably fast , fairways and tee boxes are in Great shape .If you play in the summer there are many Canadians staying in Avon Park and playing the course, French Canadians are the most frienly people I have meet and are fun to play with. If you decide to go ,make sure you play Lake Wales Country club in Lake Wales ( just a few miles up 27 at state road 60. This one of only 2 public courses in Florida designed by Seff Raynor, rest assured you will be playing two really good courses at a really good price , so enjoy.

This is an older resort so a "facelift" wouldn't hurt. We knew we were staying in a one bedroom/studio but did not realize that meant our queen bed was a Murphy bed! We had to pull down from the wall . It squeaked every time we moved. (Turned over in night, sat on it, rolled to side etc.) it sits low to the ground so it is difficult to get out of it. we slept horrible for a week. Other than that, lol ...... the place was a 2.5 star to me. The couch was a pull out and you slide to the middle when you sit on it. The kitchen was fully stocked for almost any cooking you would like to do. We met some very nice people who stayed here ,any years in a row and are owners. It is more for people 65 and older. My husband is 65 and I am 51 so we felt a little out of place. This place is very close to many golf courses and has a nice clean pool. Cody's restaurant was one our favorite places to visit, it has good food and a good happy hour. Opens at 3:00 and everyone goes early.
