Needed some Canadian for a trip and got a favorable exchange rate relatively to my bank. The gripes I had with this place was that it was the beginning of the year and they had issues logging into their system which took an extra 30 minutes. After the 30-minute wait I was informed since the first it was the first time there that I had to exchange cash for cash. Luckily there was a Chase Bank next door and I was able to get cash quickly but otherwise this would have been a greater hassle. I exchanged Canadian dollars to American dollars today and and I got a terrible rate. They hit me with an effective rate of point six seven six overall--almost seven percent worse than market. That's not a hidden fee, that's straight profit for them. predatory rates on "old" money that's perfectly good. read more

I was getting ready to go on a trip back in May 2018 and the tour guide recommended buying some euros ahead time at this location. Exchange rate was great and if you need a lot of money you can call ahead of time and they can arrange to have it for you on the day you're planning to come. The problem this particular summer is that they have construction going on so the parking part of it at this point is a little bad. I parked a couple blocks away at a meter and I almost ran out of time because I couldn't believe they actually had a lineup of people there - so if you go to a meter make sure you put in enough coins to last you for a while. I had put in $.45 and when I got back to my meter I had three minutes left. There were two people in line ahead of me and they actually had two gentleman waiting on people so they just get very busy. I can't say enough good things about this shop. While it at time is a little more, they have currency's that are harder to find at the last minute. Thankfully they always have the exotics I need and if you ever need something they don't have they can get it fast! Great example, today I have a last minute flight to Bahrain....they have the currency in house! So I can pass customs with out issue to pay for my visa! Located a little over 19 miles from downtown Detroit the days rate was printed and on the glass window. It is always nice to arrive in a different country with a little cash on hand. If you are looking for commonly sought currency - Euros, for instance - you can actually get these at some big banks (CHASE) or even at AAA. But if you need something a little more exotic, like Iraqi dinars, or probably any other sort of dinars, libras, dollars, or pesos, you should give this place a shot. The exchange rates are ok, not great, not larcenous. They are better than what you might get when you arrive in your destination country, though. There is a $5 fee for each transaction. They will also give you a cheat-sheet of conversions from your destination's cash to yours, so you'll know how much you're spending in Iraq when you buy the 70,000 dinar belt.
