Went to a funeral this past week there. If you have a large funeral, this is not the place to go, parking is minimal. They ran out of parking space and the guy out there directing traffic had the nerve to say, "she must have been popular" ? How about loved asshole! Zero sympathy in a time of grief! Forest Lawn Funeral Home has taken care of all my family members since the 1970's; we would not use any one else. The care that Tom Darst and his Staff take care of you is so personalized and caring. During the most recent loss of my Aunt the Staff has held my hand all the way through the process keeping me updated and after all was completed and done, they have made regular contact to check on me and our family. So my father passed away from covid on 9/11/2021. I was on the road for his passing and I yelped any funeral home that was in the Pasadena area as I was out of state. Forest Lawn was one of the top ones and I called them and spoke with Tom Darst. Over the phone, Tom sounded like I made a good choice and said he'd pick my dad's body up and so forth. After he arranged a time to call me the following day, we hung up. I traveled back home and number 1: Tom forgot to call me. I had to call them back to schedule the conciliation he had said he was going to call me for. Finally I get things scheduled. My brother and I meet with the famous Tom. The MINUTE we got there and sat in this weird "Boat room", he sat down and took out a calculator before we even spoke. Tom is all about money. Never asked us about my dad, or about his life. I sure heard a helluva lot about Tim's dad who passed away years ago. My brother and I could have cared less but here he was just talking and talking about his dad and we CLEARLY made it obvious that we didn't want to hear but he continued. What made things worse was his stupid jokes that he would throw out there. Old jokes that you could tell made people maybe laugh in the past but Again, Tom wasn't reading his audience. After Tom spoke to us about his dad and the legacy his dad left, (30 minutes later) came the numbers. Tom gave us two options but one was expensive and one was some what affordable . After he explained all options, he's typing in his calculator and again, all numbers, no personality. My dads last name was Campos and he said that the price for Mr CANTU would be this. And I even had to tell him that it's Campos, not Cantu and he lied saying it was from another service that he had. Yeah BS. Even on the day of my father's service, we did not follow through with the cheap memory cards his funeral home offers. (My sister in law made them herself and were a lot better with more meaning. His service cards are basically on copy paper that you find at kinkos). Anyway, he again cracked a joke at me and my brother where I had to tell him that it was ver unprofessional and not needed during our time of grief. Instead of apologizing, he walked away like a B. I would HIGHLY recommend that you do not use this funeral home. It's good if you want the job done but if you had an unexpected death like my family did, not personal, only numbers, this guy just wants to make money off your loved ones death and that's it. Also be aware of the male receptionist. I called and he answers with, "Hello?" And I asked him if this was the Forest Lawn funeral home and he goes, "Who's this?" Are you freakin serious?! Tom is one of those people who make you feel like family, very empathetic, personable and kind. It means so much, especially while going through the death of a loved one. He offered great service and products that exceeded any of the other funeral homes we called, at a price that was almost half. You can tell this is a labor of love from their entire family. We met for over an hour and left feeling confident that our loved one's memorial care was in good hands. Thank you Tom and team! read more

I could not be any more thankful. This was my first experience dealing with making funeral arrangements. Being that I had lost my mom (best friend), I wanted it to honor her in the best way possible. I wanted to make sure she would be proud of the way we memorialized her life. Dealing with grief, decisions were very difficult and the guidance given to me was so helpful. They assisted me from the first phone call to them in the middle of the night...things that never even crossed my mind. The service was beautiful and the professionalism was above all. It has been 7 months since our heartbreaking loss and they continue to reach out to check on our well being. They reached out shortly after the service and again on my mother's birthday, knowing it was a tough day. They just wanted to let me know they were sending their thoughts and prayers, plus offering several different self help options to deal with grief. Avoid at all cost! they only care about money and once you paid they treat you like you are nothing to them. They removed everything that was sentimental to us a a family and threw it away his pictures was thrown away like he wasn't important. when I went to ask a sales manager Taylor Simonis was rude and disrespectful . Said I was acting like a child in front his other coworkers because I was so upset that they had removed everything from his gravesite. but instead of apologizing or listening he would interrupt me and said to the receptionist not to give me a corporate number because I am not acting like an adult. He made me feel like my feelings were not valid because what could seem like just a picture to him meant so much to us. He brushed me off and Made me feel so disrespected. He is in the wrong business if he wants to sell he needs to go to a car dealership because woking where he is you need empathy , compassion, sensitive to our feelings and the fact that we lost someone, he showed nothing he was careless and he seemed he got joy that I was so upset. they also pick and choose who's belongings they leave up and who they trash. mainly the ones that have not purchased the headstone all about money. I saw many gravesites with thing on them and they had already been cleaned because I was told by one of the cleaning crew guys. also a. lady was going around picking things up and taking them with her maybe certain clients that she might know yet the rest of us was thrown away like trash! read more

Mr Tom Darst is the funeral director at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. I would like to thank him and Becky who runs the office. They were very kind and comforting in our time of need. Mr Darst spoke to us about the planning for my moms cremation and was very sympathetic. Very professional staff and nothing but comforting words for our family. Becky did the prayer cards just like I asked. They came out beautifully! read more
