The staff are friendly and helpful. The food however is far from gourmet. The sunday roast was decent enough but not spectacular. The wine list is limited. There is a kiddies menu that just about ticks the box. Deserts were very standard on choice and clearly microwaved which in this day and age is unacceptable. I would not go out of my way to eat there again but if I was passing and had the time and inclination would have a drink. It's a reasonable and comfortable pub.

The Maidens head underwent a refit about a year ago but there certainly hasn't been much improvement, mainly due to the people that frequent it. To say its chavvy is an understatement. Unfortunately, we were stuck here until 1am as we couldn't get a taxi any earlier but it gave as ample opportunity to assess the place. The decour is tacky, they have a dance floor with a DJ playing early 90s dance music, which most of the clientele are probably too young to remember. There was even a fight - between a man and a woman!!!! I certainly won't be returning and I would recommend that you find another drinking establishment, preferably in another town.
