The senior receptionist by name Shelly who booked me in at the reception was sociable and very professional. She logged into system and ensured my time slot was prompted to meet with the female hygienist by name Vacenathi, who was also an amazing hygienist. Vacenathi, while she was treating me kept on reassuring me and was very patient with my experience of sensitive teeth. She was amazing and l was pleased with my treatment. Alan is my dentist and he is great - personable, attentive and most importantly makes you feel comfortable and confident about the treatment you're having. He takes a consultative approach and makes sure you're happy and clear on the procedures. There have been a couple of different nurses who have assisted at my appointments - all have been charming and equally attentive and help to make sure your visit is as comfortable as possible. I saw Geraldine the hygienist on my last visit and she too is very good. She's shared some really helpful tips to help me keep my nashers in good condition and to help avoid any further dental work! Kate the receptionist is beyond efficient. She has a great manner and straight away seems to recognise your voice on the phone and recollects which patient you are, which makes it a very personable service. It's always been very straightforward to get an appointment at short notice, and at a convenient time. The practice itself is modern, clean and welcoming. Alan's room appears to have all the latest dentistry technology and equipment on hand (along with an eclectic iTunes library full of great tracks which vary depending on the day or maybe Alan's mood; including a nice mix of Jazz, Indie, Classical, Pop!). I'm lucky enough to be included on my partner's dentist health plan through his employers which does help to reduce the cost of treatment. I'd say the charges for fillings and additional work which I've had carried out to date are competitive (having spoken to friends and colleagues about similar treatment). This practice feels like a treat to go to and more like a trip to the hairdressers or a hotel than going to the dentists. Highly recommend it even if you don't live in the immediate area. Well worth the journey!

The new (private) practice was founded by a Kingston Hospital specialist, so has a reassuringly good pedigree. It's located on a pretty section of Green in leafy central Teddington. As soon as you enter the pristine premises, you feel relaxed (at least I did) and you can help yourself to some filtered water or a hot drink before you sink back into a leather sofa with the latest magazines. But to the main point, what I particularly like and respect about Dr Su is that she is especially gentle, fully explains everything and never recommends unnecessary treatment. The panoramic x-rays carried out during check-up (at around £25) will give you a brilliant insight in a way that the standard x-ray format doesn't and can also highlight any potential future concerns. For the first time in ages I needed some work. My gums were so well pre-treated with gel that I didn't even feel the injections. As the procedure was carried out, Dr Su gently explained everything and was reassuring throughout. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Dr Kyaw to anyone.

Isn't that a great name for a dentist?…read more As an aside, they started building a retirement complex in Purley a few years ago called Purley Gates, up in huge letters on a sign outside the building site, but the name got changed. I can't think why. Anyway. Purley Whites is a rare thing: a dentist that still takes on NHS patients. You do get limited appointments, with only private appointments in the evenings and at weekends, but that's a small price to pay to be on their books. The surgery is very clean and light, and the staff all do their utmost to put you at ease. It's always very easy to get check-up appointments, and they have you in and out in no time. Going to the dentist isn't anyone's idea of fun, but these guys at least manage to take some of the sting out of it for you.
