Have you been looking for the most interesting and unique "date night" or family outing in Oklahoma…read moreCity? Max's Magic Theatre is a residentially-run entertainment venue where you are literally invited into the front room of a home in northwest OKC to be shown dozens of tricks that will impress, surprise and amaze you. The room is professionally outfitted with lighting, curtains and a music system, but because it is the size of a family room, the show is far more intimate, and you feel as if every trick is being performed just for you. The show is extremely interactive, so each audience member could end up on-stage, or be asked to name a card (or animal, or word) from their seat in the audience. Max promises magic, mentalism and comedy, and he delivers all three with a show that includes classic illusions and technological wonders (hint: make sure your cell phone is charged) that will leave you speechless. Max performs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and the early (7pm) show is family-friendly, while the late (10pm) is geared toward adult audiences. The show runs over one hour long, and it is impossible to leave without a smile on your face and a favorite trick that you will have to come back and watch him do again. Max's Magic Shoppe lets you (literally) bring a piece of the show home with you, with hundreds of tricks you can purchase and perfect on your own. Tickets are recommended in advance, because shows can sell out. Still photos can be taken during the performance but video recording is not permitted.

You watch a movie and have the extremely short "Did you like it?" conversation on the way to the car and date night is over - same as every other bland night. If you want to have an unforgettable experience, visit the home of magical arts in Oklahoma City. Cards, coins and more appear, disappear and seemingly obey the will of the mystic behind Max's Magic Theatre. The late evening show offers close-up magic, where you literally sit beside a working magician as he performs tricks and illusions that he has created himself. The result is that the audience experiences magic that harnesses 21st century technology. Max's unique one-man magic act offers "straight man" humor; maintaining composure while firing off one-liners that playfully mocks his own skill, eliciting laugher as he moves on to his next illusion. The show is prefect for families, groups of friends or anyone who is looking for a fun, and highly dynamic after-dinner show that will completely draw you in to the world of magic.

Ironically I stopped in yesterday to pick up some supplies for my homemade Ruth Bader Ginsburg Halloween costume. I had two gift cards so I also though I'd look at decor, can you ever have enough Halloween decorations? I was surprised that most Halloween/Fall stuff was 50% off and sparse. They had more Christmas stuff out than for the two upcoming holidays, I can't say I'm a fan of that. I had my own 25% off my entire purchase including sale so Halloween stuff was 75% off for me! Unfortunately I only walked out with a craft pumpkin for decorations, but I got lots of other stuff! I'm signed up for the text message coupons, they are sometimes annoying yet days like yesterday they sent an amazing coupon a few hours before I was stopping by. This is my go-to for craft supplies and I will be back, closer to December, to see the Christmas decor. Maybe it will be the stuff on sale by then!

Went and picked out 12 balloons to have helium inflated into and the same employee loudly and rudely announced that they could not blow them up. Asked why and employee (again rudely) said that it was store policy to not blow them up within 30 minutes of closing. Really? That sounds made up. No wonder the store has been going downhill. Went across the street to Dollar Tree and was in and out with 12 balloons in 10 minutes. Michael's, you have just lost another customer. Sad.
