"50 Shades of Gelato" A short story by Lindsay L…read more It was a exceptionally warm Autumn day and I was in the mood for a something sweet. I knew I had to have it and I wanted it all. Gelato. So creamy, so sweet, so delicious. I slowly walked over to the case, the sun warming up the left side of my face. As I locked my gaze towards the cabinet, I knew this would the ultimate pleasure and yet, leave me completely devastated. After holding my gaze so intently for what seemed to go on forever, I looked up and said, "I'd like a scoop of mentha, please". Immediately I knew that I had chosen the wrong one. What was Coco going to think about me? Would mango ever forgive me? Raspberry, Oh raspberry. I couldn't do it, I couldn't only have one. I needed more. I had to have more. I looked up slyly with the glimmer in my eye and I said, "I'll take 'em all. One of each and every delicious scoop". The attendant gasped and stared, as if I had just told her a deep, dark secret. She asked me "Are you sure?". I then replied, "Yes, it's only because I have to. You don't understand." I took my 50 Shades of Gelato and we rode off into the sun together, our lips locked tight into one another. I had wished that this moment would never end. As the last little bit of gelato turned into liquid resting against my 99.1 degree Fahrenheit (37.3 degree Celsius) tongue, I knew this bliss had come to an end. I only hope that we meet again. Gelato, you are my one and only true love. Ok, ok. Only half of that is true. Everything except for eating one scoop of all 50 flavours. I only had 2, but don't you worry because I will be back for more!

I searched for organic foods and I was happy to find one near where I stayed. Ziva is located right next to the Santa Catalina market. As soon as you walk in, the bright and fresh smell of lemons hits your face. I stopped for a smoothie because I felt very disgusted from the airplane food I ate the night before. Remember getting one with spirulina in it. It was very filling and helped me with my jet lag. They have WIFI so I relaxed for a little there and got to chat a little with the owner. Apart from fresh smoothies and juices using organic produce, they have an array of products you don't normally see anywhere else other than a health food store. I was surprised to see some brands that aren't even that popular in the US yet like Mushroom Coffee. Say waaa?! I highly recommend.

This is a nice store/restaurant right next to the Santa Catalina market…read more I come here to buy the Planet Bio supplements like Açaí, Reishi or MSM powder. They also have a nice selection of teas and mushroom coffee replacement (yeah sounds a bit spooky but actually tastes quite nice...). On the other side there they also have food. Some nice salads and sandwiches... All vegan. What I really like is the home made seed crackers that are also gluten free and the small gluten free and vegan sweet balls. So nice place to explore the food here and try something new every time. The only draw back I find it all quite expensive. But then again home made organic vegan food doesn't come cheap...
