Upon entry, I was greeted by a very abrupt, Swedish waiter who began talking me to Swedish even when I shook my head, and tried to explain I don't understand - I really don't understand why he bothered me before I sat down when he knew I didn't speak Swedish, I understand there's a language barrier however I shown him my coupon and he even appeared to agree I didn't understand, yet still carried on. This branch of Vapiano is unusual in the sense, you order at a counter and pay with your card and then collect your food - you then take your card and pay as you leave as normal. I really dislike this concept because I like watching the people cook my food and the fact you have to go back and collect your food anyway - takes away the fact you can sit down and relax - table service with this method would make much more sense. I decided to order a panna cotta as I had been given a voucher for a free Dessert / Dolci by another store to try out at any location in Sweden which was the only reason I came into store while passing - I was sent from the counter to the bar which was confusing yet again (You order everything apart from alcohol and Dolci at the counter with no one even making the concept clear) Not only that - I found it really hard to get a menu as they were hidden away in a corner near the counter (Why wasn't I given one when I checked in as other stores do?) I hoped the issues I faced until actually getting my panna cotta would be over however they continued - the panna cotta was in a small pot so it didn't look as visually appealing and wasn't as easy to eat as it could have been - I'm not sure if it was the preparation or storage but the panna cotta was really runny and I got virtually no flavour - it was a bland mess. Vapiano had a shot at redemption and simply failed at one of their signature Dolci's which just isn't good enough. 1*

Sort a shrug from the bartender at the Courtyard was the response. Then I mentioned Primo Ciao Ciao from the Yelp reviews. "It's a pizza and pasta place," he said. "Anything else Italian around that's good?" I asked. "Not really." This is the trouble when one is in a city one isn't acquainted with: where to get good food. One only has so many days in the place. One is bound to find some good ones and bad ones. Then came Yelp. Suddenly it was made easier? Really? So I set off on foot for Primo Ciao Ciao, maybe five blocks away. I noticed that few Swedes go against the red at street corners, even though auto traffic was nearly non-existant. They'd never get anywhere in NYC. I tried to follow their lead. I grew old waiting for the "walk" signal. I jaywalked. Dining alone this evening, I was looking for a place with a bar where I could eat and drink, perhaps talk with strangers. This wasn't it. The bar is more of an unused corner of the restaurant where customers can wait while their "take away" is being ginned up in the kitchen. It is not a bar where one goes to have a drink and a chat. I got a table near the entrance inside. The outside sidewalk seating was completely filled at half past eight in the evening. Inside was half full. "Is there a good house red?" I asked the prompt, efficient, friendly waiter. "Well, yes there is." He brought me a glass of the house red, Montepulciano, I think. Good enough. Having seen a favorable review from someone about the Isabel pizza, and being in the mood, I ordered. Before that arrived an unexpected "pizza salad" arrived, a bowl of a sort of cole slaw thing with vinegar and oil and perhaps a little salt and pepper. This must be a Swedish idea of cole slaw. I'm not sure it works. The pizza maker was fast, a pie in front of me in less than 10 minutes; with a thin crust--this is good, in my mind. It looked tasty, but something was amiss. Do Swedes not bring the pie already cut? Mine wasn't. But worse, the topping had nearly the consistency of stew. It was juicy. It made the crust soggy in no time. But maybe it is just the way things are done here. The tomato on the pizza was flavorless, like one might find in the grocery store that had been picked green and gassed to make it red. "Have you got a different red I might try?" He brought me three more to try. I settled on the third, though didn't finish it. The waiter had been right in bringing me the first one as the best one on hand. Persons very helpful here. Friendly. Probably won't return, but it wasn't the worse dining experience by any means. It would do in a pinch. Perhaps there are other things on the menu that they are known for here.

For quality I'd pay any amount ! But coming from LA, a $16 pizza isn't expensive at all. For this quality in LA, we pay close to $25, or even $30 for the truffle pizza that I had so I'd say we got a DEAL! I really don't understand the point of this as surely a sign on the door pointing to the restauraunt would make more sense - it was by chance I ended up turning left at the end of the street and finding here after my GPS must have led me to the wrong location. The restauraunt is an Italian restauraunt, I came here before heading to the Friends Arena, where I watched Sweden draw 1-1 with Norway in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier due to it being in a nice area of the city and close to a metro station. I hear it is owned / by Swedish celebrity chef Tommy Myllimäki.. As you walk in there is a huge wheel you can spin which is pretty cool - although I'm not sure what it is as the staff member didn't offer me the chance to use it or tell me about it, and it was as expected - all in Swedish. Inside, the area is pretty large with an open kitchen and bar area and another area where they were serving glasses and wine (quite interesting) - while I was sat at my table I was just there watching multiple staff members who were on shift, drinking glasses of wine in between serving tables and it wasn't even evening yet - it's five o'clock somewhere but surely employees shouldn't be consuming alcohol in-between working? I don't want my food served by someone intoxicated thanks. Luckily, the staff member who served me wasn't one of the alcoholics - she was friendly and polite and able to explain that the pizza and pasta could be made gluten-free. Inside, the place felt more like a chain than a nice, romantic/high-end restauraunt yet it still charged expensive, high-end prices - for just a margarita pizza it came to 180 krona, which when converted works out about £15.26 which I just don't feel is justifiable, especially considering this is one of the cheaper items on the menu. My pizza was just edible - it was certainly better than the one I had from Vapiano the following day and for gluten-free pizza, the base was pretty good, albeit slightly burnt and it was black and tasted like charcoal in some areas - my main problem was the toppings, with the cheese tasting like it was a sauce - whatever it was it certainly wasn't fresh mozzarella, it was lumped together in a horrible mess and I had to scrape most of it off - the pasatta (tomato sauce) used also tasted pretty basic and possibly canned - this is again what you expect from a chain's cheap pizza, not an expensive pizza like this. The gluten-free bread as a mini-starter was a nice gesture, however, I needed a lot of oil just to make it edible as it was really hard and tasted of nothing. I did struggle finding edible food in Stockholm which wasn't junk food and was gluten-free, and this place does have potential as the gluten-free base might not be exceptional but it wasn't bad (trust me I've had a lot worse), but this place has so many flaws I can't justify over a two-star rating in the same way I can't justify the prices they charge for sub-par quality and allowing staff to become intoxicated during shift.

Paired with a delicious artichoke dip. * Spaghetti carbonara: The dish was a little too salty, but I enjoyed it. Maybe the saltiness came from too much of the grated Parmesan (way too much) or maybe because of the combination with pancetta? The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente (but not homemade/fresh). Overall, a very good dish. * Garganelli with prawns, clams, mussels: My friend had the Weekly Pasta Special and said it was very good. Nice garlic flavor and good, lunch-sized portion.
