Lakeland - Massive and beautifully modern store, even with digital screens in the toilets!

In fact, a Lakelands store opening in your town could be the sign that you've finally made it officially into middle class! On our recent holiday to the Lake District, the girlfriend and I had to pop into their flagship store, which was locate right next to Windermere train station - in fact, you can drive through the station car park to get to it As befits a flagship store, they have a fountain and an impressive building. There's a cafe on the first floor, which had a waiting list when we arrived and the shopfloor is on the ground floor There are Lakland products laid out in easy to find fashion that you can browse to your heart's content. I remember coming here years ago and wanting to buy the entire shop. However, on this visit, I enjoyed looking round but there was really nothing which I wanted to buy for the kitchen Having just been to Sur la Table and Williams Sonoma in the USA, Lakeland seems more for the fun cook. Where was the serious knife counter with a professional to advise on the best blade for a specific task and for you? Actually, I think the presence of more staff to tell you about their new fin range of cookware, the sous vide water baths and the fun looking cook in the cup cake mugs would have made it a more fun experience. Perhaps some demonstration stations I may have outgrown Lakeland but I'm glad that it's there to encourage people to get into the kitchen more

I am about to rain on people's parade…read more I haven't visited the store in Cumbria, but used their online service. I cannot argue about the gadgets, and wide range of appliances, I can say the delivery stinks. I ordered something on the 30/9/13, and paid £2.99 (£3s in my book), it was finally delivered on the 7/1013. I'm sorry but it wasn't a large item; they have to get slicker. There's an organisation based in Hull, and the item was bigger, but they promised next day delivery if ordered before 1am on the day of delivery, and free!!! £2.99, and it takes 7 days..... This ain't good in the world of e-commerce. The item is much loved by my wife, else I'd have dropped it down to a 2 star. That is the impact you have on people's expectations and perception. I hope they read these reviews, and think hard about their delivery policy, or whoever they deal with for their deliveries, in this case it was HERMES (not quite the Olympian God).

You definitely have to have money to spend if you want to be taken seriously in this store. Veranda…read moreHome Interiors is full of high quality furniture, mirrors and lighting and the staff seem to take great pride in the stock which is on show. As you enter it is rather grandiose with glimmers of gold and bronze and exudes elegance. For those wishing to furnish their homes with a few expensive touches, then the candelabras here are something really special. They have items from the Ralph Lauren Collection and an entirely steel 3 drawer cabinet which to me seems OTT but if you're looking for a centre piece...and I particularly liked the stacked trunks and solid wood chests. Maybe in 20 years I'll be able to come back in here and be more serious about it's contents!

The furniture is very pricey but it's excellent quality and you can tell a lot of time has gone in to designing the furniture and lighting art work. Whilst the furniture is awesome, the shop on allerton road is very intimidating and it almost looks like the products in the shop are behind bars. Maybe this is because it is all so expensive and so they need to keep the shop a bit more shut up? I think the shop front could be made to look a little more inviting. This place is definately for the rich and famous. When I get my home for life I will be back to purchase one item a month, saving up enough to buy the chest of draws, tables and desks. I will I will.

Which means that you pay much more for the items than they're actually worth. But the real problems come if you start missing payments. That's when the interest rates start escalating, the payments become even more difficult to meet and the phone calls start coming. I don't really like Bright House.

Although the idea is all very noble, beware that you will be paying out of your ears in APR ! This is all very helpful when you need that item now but worth baring in mind is it really worth the eventual price you will be paying!? However should you decide that this is the way for you, the Bolton store is very well presented with much of their catalogue of items on display including some nice sofa's, white goods and plasma tv's etc all at affordable weekly payments. The store is well laid out with warm decor and lighting that appears relaxing and inviting. Everything looks tidy and clean with that sense of newness to their displays that could evoke a 'squee' from the easily excitable people out there (i don't squee, honest...) Often places can look tired and grubby round the edges but thankfully this place is so far so good at keeping it's lustre. The staff are all well presented and professional and set you at east.
