A little gem of an area with plenty of photo opportunities of not only the pretty lighthouse but of the surrounding area as well. It's a quick one or two minute drive from the bridge waterfront area and well worth the visit. Don't forget to stop inside the gift shop and pick up a souvenir. It's a nice Pure Michigan stop if you're in the area. read more

It was a picture perfect day. We decided to pack a cooler, jump in the car and hit the road. We have decided that this summer, we will take a tour of all the lighthouses in Michigan. Fort Gratiot was the first stop on our journey. Even though I travel the thumb area often, it was the first time for both of us. We enjoyed the beautiful beach, spent some time taking pictures at the lighthouse and walking the sandy beach. The water was crystal clear and we found some unique rocks along the shore. We enjoyed learning about the history of the lighthouse and are looking forward to a trip back, as soon as the beaches open again. read more

This place is well kept up. To bad it was all locked up and we could not enter the building. Mainly it was closed due to the pandemic. This place is worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

Fort Gratiot Lighthouse was our first stop on a Sunday lighthouse tour we planned in the thumb. Given the rainy weather we were lucky to have a tour just the two of us and our guide Jacob. He was amazing and made the tour entirely worth the $10 per person (never mind that it helps a good cause and the lighthouse, right?). He was a history buff that talked about the grounds, showed us the old hospital and keeper's quarters, plus the lighthouse and fog horn. We had lots of questions that he was able to answer and it was so nice to see someone with a passion for what they were doing. The gift shop had all kinds of cool knickknacks and lighthouse stuff- it was really big! Plenty of parking and it was easy to get to from the freeway. read more

This is a beautiful light house and the oldest in Michigan! I enjoyed my visit here and my first opportunity to visit Lake Huron. The lighthouse was beautiful with a commanding view over the river and lake. I wasn't able to take a tour today but I did get down to the water to dip my toes in the water. The lake was warm and beautiful and the lake was a wonderful shade of blue on a sunny day. This is a super cool place to visit with a wonderful view of the lighthouse, lake, and the international bridge to Canada. They have a visitor center with gift shop and some docents to tell you about the lighthouse and it's history. Plenty of informative signs as well! Definitely a great visit! read more

This is a great place to enjoy the beach and spectacular views.tours are available for a nominal fee and they are well worth it great information and friendly staff Also has a nice selection of souvenirs in various price ranges to help maintain facilities Even if you're short on time this is worth a stop read more

This beautiful lighthouse on Lake Huron is a sight to see. The tower wasn't open on the day we were there but the views and information did not disappoint. If you are taking a lighthouse tour of the Great Lakes or passing through St. Clair, I recommend you take at least 30 minutes to visit this spot and read all the information posted. read more

This is a very nice, clean park, with a daily enjoyable historic tour and the sturgeon festival. I keep coming back for picnics, to enjoy the water and view of the bridge. Be aware with children there is a fairly strong current. read more

If you like swimming, parks and light houses, this is the place for you! I really like coming here just to go swimming and checking out the light house. When the cleanest beaches I've been to here Michigan. Always nice always fun just to get back and enjoy the good life while here and have a picnic. It's cool that you can read about the history of the lighthouse also has a museum that you can go into during opening hours. I probably come here at least twice a month maybe more depending on the weather. But every time I'm not disappointed at all. Just a good way to kick back and enjoy the good life. read more

As I was actually stationed there with the Coast Guard when the station was still open I really loved it there and fully say you should go check it out as a historical site. They will give you a full tour as well as the history of the site and the area. You can go up in the lighthouse as well. I spent many hours up there while stationed there and it's a great view of the lake and river entrance. This area has so much rich maritime history to show you. You can sit by the water and watch the ships go right by there too. Don't hesitate to go here if you like history as you will not be dissapointed read more

A beautiful setting. Nice people. Easy parking. Way more fun than I ever expected. Gift shop is fantastic. I only wish I hadn't discovered it because, honest to God, the clothing lines are so nice that I've returned to shop repeatedly. I mean, who goes to a tourist shop to buy clothes? Super cute shorts and tops. And I hate shopping. Also some of the coolest gifts for anyone who likes boating or sailing. read more

Had a super visit to this historic lighthouse a few years ago. did not have a chance to climb up to the top but I personally thought that the gift shop was well stocked and had alot of interesting stuff in it plus the management, tourguides and employees are very friendly and helpful. Grounds and buildings anre well maintained and taken care of by the Way. Dave lepkowski. :) read more

I like that you can bring your own beverages in if you choose or pick from snacks and some refreshments there. Seating is very limited, so buy in advance, but prepare for a fun evening when you do. Shout out to Noah and the rest of the cast of Fools, a play adapted by Neil Simon. I love silly humor, and this truly delivered. I also liked the raffle for opening weekend and getting a second chance by dressing for the theme. If you are in St. Clair County and want a break from the standard movie date night, come check this place out. Opens 1/2 hour before showtime and street parking is limited so get there early. And there are several nearby restaurants if you want a bite before or after a show.

It's a very small collection but it's part of the Saint Clair County library system, so any library book in the county can be placed on hold and obtained from this branch within about 24 hours. If you live in the north part of the county, this is a nice little spot to visit to feed your reading habit!
