It's a good vibe, quiet, well-light, and perfect for parking yourself there for long periods of time. Nothing beats Rutherford to me. I'm not even a University student anymore and here I am! North will always be the superior side to me because I'm more of a lone wolf. It's also close to HUB for people who need food/a study break.

The ground floor spaces tend to be noisier that floors 2-5. My imagination loves the tight narrow lines of bookshelves on the floors. It reminds me of scenes from Ghostbusters. I half expect Slimer to pop out any second. Speaking of ghost stories, Rutherford North has the distinction of being the only place in my life where I felt like I had a semi-haunted experience. Many years ago I was in the basement looking at some rare books and heard faint whispering in the background. There appeared to be nobody else in the vicinity, but there were clear sounds of a whispered conversation going on. It made the hairs on the back of my head stand up and I still get a little spooked when using the basement washrooms in the North. Of course the experience coincided with having been up the entire previous night finishing off a paper, so the psyche was a bit scrambled! The reading room in Rutherford North is my favourite place to study. It's quiet but not too quiet and it's got a ton of character.

Like most libraries, it's quiet here, but the nice thing, is the traffic is also fairly light, so there isn't the same in-out commotion of larger branches, so I guess you could say it's quieter than many libraries. They also have a nice selection of audio and video here. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I also liked this branch because it was clean, new and very bright with comfy, big chairs. This is a great way to pass a few hours on a free afternoon, just you and words on a page. Sounds decadent to me!

Kids running, screaming........ for hours being ignored by parents! Staff.........????? Courteous, helpful and very pleasant!! I understand...... The puzzle may be temporary ~ we've worked on two different puzzles in the past month. The teen area upstairs is cool. You can check out comics, manga and more !! Cozy up with your tea and a magazine while the sun kisses your nose ~ inside or on their second story enclosed patio. I highly anticipated the opening of this library. The first year after its opening, I felt the interior lacked warmth. Five years later this gem established loyal visitors, those visitors and the new, bring a pulse ~ a warmth. This is one of several Edmonton library's i highly recommend. The librarians are fun & informative ~ and patient with our never ending requests to bring in BOOKS ! Check them out !!

Love the self-checkout for the books, and the staff is very helpful. I had inquired if we could borrow books during our short stay. Unfortunately, like any library, you have to have an Alberta ID in order to get a library card. Thankfully, my dad came along, and we applied for one for him so my girls could borrow books while we are in town. And new applicants get a nice book tote bag for free.

The room that we had booked for our meeting was quite large and there was a good amount of seating for our group. The lighting here was lovely and this branch seemed busy enough but not overwhelmingly so when we were here. If I lived closer, I'm sure I would visit more frequently. I'm glad EPL has such great library branches!

They have 3 stalls for EV's but only one had been working. Then all the cords got cut and they were all down for a bit. Cords were replaced and I was able to charge again a few weeks ago. The library may be small but it has a good collection and study spaces and rooms you can book. Lots of parking around as it is close to the mall.

The kids area is great - complete with a Arthurian tent to phone a mystery phone recording on, a wooden bus you can sit on with your kids, and plenty of natural light. They have a phenomenal summer reading program for kiddos! The adult sections are pretty good and if they don't have what you want they can order it in from another library. I love how it's conveniently located in City Hall. It's nice to stop in for a break from the Farmer's Market on a hot summer's day. There is a beautiful winding staircase to the second level or an elevator if you prefer - my toddler likes to do both, severl times, every visit! The only thing that would make this library better is if the memberships were free - I mean come on St. Albert, the taxes are HIGH enough to warrant a free library membership :-)

From outside it's a quirky building and inside it's really well laid out with computers, printers, makers space, of course books and a welcoming reception area. I nipped in to do some printing but can't wait to come back and spend some time here. The parking lot has plug ins which I thought was a nice touch. There is also plenty of street parking too.

My favourite library in the area…read more I enjoy the convenient location being a 5 minute walk away, the free underground parking and street level parking, the large spacious area spread across 2 levels, the architectural accents, delightful artistic mosaic pieces. Let's not forget there's actually a cafe inside the library! Who wouldn't enjoy curling up with a good book and a latte here? :) The strathcona library also has a bunch of programs available ranging from kids to adults, a decent size rack of books & movies on sale outside the main doors in the lobby, and lovely staff. Bonus: it's inside the Community Centre, which hosts a variety of different events throughout the year, such as farmers markets during the evening of a particular weekday during the spring & summer (Wednesday's I think?). Also! New Years in the Park is great! Free hot chocolate and they still lit fireworks this past New Year's Day (the -freezing day)

He enjoyed the Duplo table, and the metal bead mazes that were dotted around the Enchanted Forest, which is a section of the library on the main floor dedicated to young children. There's also a set of wodden bins with board books in them at just the right height for him, so he was able to pick out and read books himself. There's also a small table that looks like a produce stand, where plastic and foam food items sit in buckets that the children can interact with. There's also a set of 4 computers that I'm sure have child-friendly activities on them. There is also a puppet theatre in a small but against the back wall which we didn't have time to play with but certainly looked interesting.
