Even those who know little about trains will be impressed, as there is so much more than trains; it is the whole world around the trains as well, reduced to 1/87th real size. Easy parking and plenty of real railroading right outside the door to the models. Entertaining for all ages.

There is so much to do and explore here! The music section is definitely a favorite as you get to test out so many instruments! Everything was well maintained (minus one or two exhibits that weren't functioning at the time). The toddler area is great for the little ones to be separate. Personally, I was absolutely stoked for the shadow wall - it's just a fun/silly thing to do. When we ventured upstairs we didn't realize there was a theater until a staff member asked if we were there to see the show. Since we had to get going, I asked if I could peak in real quick to check it out and he was totally fine with it. It looks so cool! We will definitely be back to catch a show in the future.

I was welcomed at the entry desk, upstairs from the entry from a free parking lot (and only a couple of blocks from the model railroad museum). I had specifically gone because of an exhibit about the team of French illustrators whose work for Harpers Weekly more than 150 years ago helped document the movement west, it was very impressive - I included several pictures even though this is the last week of the display. I am glad I stopped here and I think the people of Greeley have done a great job sharing and preserving their heritage!

The lovely ladies that guide you room by room through the house know the history and have great stories to tell. The architecture of the house is very interesting and the fact that the original details and furnishings are still there is incredible.

I went with a friend to visit Avery House earlier this week. We initially assumed it was going to…read morebe a short interlude in between other Fort Collins attractions, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trips! The house itself is stunning; having been beautifully restored to Victorian splendour, it's charmingly reflective of the way its former residents would have lived. But it's the docents who are the real stars here - they're a group of incredibly passionate, lovely people who take every group of visitors around to introduce them personally to both Avery House, and the history of Fort Collins as a city. We especially enjoyed being able to explore and ask questions about all the small details in the house, from the furnishings to the lifestyles and stories behind every item. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone living in, visiting or passing through Fort Collins for how it lets you take a great look at one of the most interesting portions of the city's past.

The Loveland Museum is small, but mighty, with a surprising number of functions packed into a…read morelimited space. The museum was founded in 1937 by local author and mountain guide, Harold Dunning, who had begun to collect historical memorabilia around 1919. Today it is an accredited art and history museum with a vibrant schedule of events and classes. Half of the museum covers the history of the area, highlighting Great Western Sugar (sugar beets), which was the major local employer in the first half of the 20th century. There is a small, but interesting gift shop and a basement auditorium, but the other key function of the museum is art exhibits of local, regional, and national interest. The north wing of the museum is a large gallery space. The auditorium and mezzanine are also used for art display. The museum has presented very well-curated exhibits over the years and I often enjoy making the long drive from Denver to get my art fix.

The depth and breadth of the Denver Art Museum's collection is breathtaking. There is so much to…read morelearn and enjoy in the standing exhibits and the rotating exhibits that amaze and delight the senses. The current exhibition on Australian Indigenous Art "The Stars We Do Not See" is a stunning example of how much there is to gain and appreciate from going to see something you know nothing about. I particularly enjoy the tours, ongoing programs and lectures that the Museum offers. In conjunction with with the Aboriginal exhibit, the monthly "Mindful Looking" program offered a deep dive into one painting in that exhibit as a group of maybe 50 patrons listened in rapt attention as the curator of "The Stars We Do Not See" gave us a deep understanding of not only how that piece was made, but also its historical, symbolic and hidden perspectives. This is just a tiny slice of the education, amazement and enjoyment the Denver Art Museum has to offer. It's a treasure.

I suggest grabbing a map or downloading it on your phone. The Hamilton Building has several floors and houses arts of Africa & Oceania, indigenous arts of North America, Western American art, architecture and design galleries, modern and contemporary art. At the ground floor, there's a spacious gift shop. The Martin Building is an 8-story building with lots of glass tiles. It has indigenous arts of North America, Asian art, Latin American art & art of the Ancient Americas, European/American art before 1900, photography, textile art, fashion and major architecture and design collection. Both buildings are good to explore; but if you're pressed for time, I'd recommend going to The Kirkland first (which is my favorite).
