Kara did a great job breaking down the law so you understand exactly what you're signing. Kara's assistant, Lillian was also pretty helpful. One con is they charge you for just about every single email sent to/ from the client. They also have you replenish your retainer every time you go below $3k. This is my first time working with a lawyer so I'm not sure if that's common practice. However, my fiancé's lawyer didn't do that. Overall, no complaints. I was referred to HSU Law by a family friend, initially speaking with Lydia I felt confident her and her team would be able to help me. I paid the initial 5k retainer, then my case was taken by Tyler Gesbeck because of his familiarity with Monterey County. Tyler sounded confident my case wouldn't take very long and was cut and dry and I wouldn't pay more than 10k in attorney fees. A month and a half later he was agreeing with the other attorneys request telling me that I would be paying an outrageous amount of spousal support and losing half my homes equity to my ex. Then I get a bill for 12k and he hadn't even submitted my response to the court, after paying 17k+ I had to find a new attorney who completely disagreed with Tyler's approach and position. I have now settled my case with my ex and she is getting less than 10k, no spousal support, no attorney fees and I've paid less than $7500 for my new Attorney. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HSU LAW, Definitely Not Tyler. read more
