Oops I did it again!…read more I love antique clocks (and antique/ vintage items in general) even though I dont have anywhere to put them all out in my house, but yesterday, I picked up this beautiful antique mahogany clock. I believe that it may be a Junghans German shelf clock. (Possibly a "Biedermeier style"?) clock with a dark reddish mahogany case and a beveled glass door. It has a wonderful deep toned strike on the hour and half hour. I found this gem at Second & Main and it's sister store Apparitions Vintage Village which is owned by an old high school friend Robin Sowers. This store has a little bit of everything from classis records, vintage items, and locally crafted items as well! Be sure and check them out!

Sam and the other vendors always make sure the place is bright, engaging, and fun. They are very intentional about making cool and eye catching displays to enjoy as you shop. They have weird garage sale type finds (I impulse bought a velvet cat painting), midcentury modern furniture in great shape, vintage threads, designer brands like Louis Vuitton. They have books, other artwork, knickknacks and tchotchkes, anything you can imagine. And prices are still great!

I had bought new one's and his last favorite was a dickies work coat and he wore it for 2 winters and it was shot. I searched for a new one then I tried used and still couldn't find the same one. I happened upon Outreach for Addiction Thrift Store and I found this amazing Eddie Bauer puffer light weight thinsulate zip up black coat. He was 85 at the time and didn't like a lot of weight on him, but needed the warmth. So for less than $5 I ended up with an amazing coat for my wonderful dad and many other favorites for me and the whole family. I also found a couple books I had not been able to find out on the thrift book sales or even the library book sales. I found 2 there I was pleased to have found. My husband was going to London on a Sunday afternoon to play tennis, so I decided to tag along and…read morehit up the local Goodwill while he was at the court. I had never been to the London Goodwill, and I always try to visit as many as I can. The store was very neat and clean even considering how busy it was due to the Chicken Festival happening that weekend. The home goods were well-priced (I feel some Goodwill's have gotten a little greedy with their pricing), and I found some really nice clothes. Even better was that it was 99 cent Sunday. All of this made for a pleasant, successful thrifting trip, but the thing that put it over the top was how friendly the employees were. I had direct interaction with 4 different staff members, and they were all so nice. They seemed happy to be there and even happier to make everyone's shopping experience better. I look forward to the next time I am in the London area again so I can visit this wonderful Goodwill.
