On our end of the year trip our destination was Monument Valley and the husband decided to just be spontaneous and drive out to the Four Corners. Worth the 1.5 hits from Monument Valley. We took the scenic route. We stopped at the Forrest Gump road. Then we e passed by the Mexican Hat. I'm guessing the new entrance fee is $10. The website still list $8. It must be a 2026 thing. We arrived before 4:30pm. It closes at 5pm. Give yourself some time because if the wait. People start making comments if you take more than a couple of pictures. The people behind me did it to the people in front of us and to us. If you aren't ready to wait for your turn don't come.
*Five Stars* for me! After seeing a few Instagram post on the Four Corners Monument, I bookmarked and add this spot to my Bucket list 2025, I booked a spontaneous trip to Vegas and why not, let s do it, lets go! My loving husband took the duty of driving, taking me to fulfill my bucket list dreams, hehe. It was a long drive, I have to let you know, over from Vegas, 12+ hours. ( I have to confirm with him) The road trip was very nice, passing through Utah then Arizona, lots of mountains and nice majestic views. I would do it again, will if the hubby agrees to drive again. The Four Corners Monument is a unique tourist destination located in northeastern part of Arizona. We arrived at Four Corners Monument towards closing time, check the hours as the gates do close and entrance fee is $8. per person for admission. From photos and social media post, I saw the flags from the front lot and I knew we were here at the Four Corners. Quick visit and it was pretty cool to be here in real life, in person! Of course we took our photos & video of every corner, walked around & explored a bit. Why so excited about this monument, it may not be a big deal for some but for me it is, the question is - when do you get to be at all FOUR states at one time, @ Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico, this is where the four states intersect. All in all, it was a super nice road trip & truly great experience. Thank you to the wonderful hubby, truly grateful. Enjoy life, happy travels!
We made the trek out to the Four Corners Monument, excited to stand in four states at once--but the visit was more frustrating than fun. First off, they wouldn't let us bring our dog along, which was a real bummer since the drive was long and he's part of the adventure. Then there was the $8 per person entry fee for what felt like a quick photo op in the middle of nowhere. To top it off, the place was crowded, making it hard to get that iconic shot without a dozen strangers photobombing. We ended up staying maybe five minutes before calling it quits. It's cool to say you've been, but honestly, this stop didn't live up to the hype for us. A little overpriced, a little crowded, and not very pet-friendly--two stars and a lesson learned.
The family really wanted to see this, so we drove out here. Meh! Lame, dude, lame! Seriously! They charge $8 a person ($32 for our car of 4) to get in. Dirt, rock path, outhouses, couple food vendors and souvenir folks selling the same stuff at every stand. Luckily, there were not too many people there when we went, so we didn't have to wait long to take our pictures. My kids loved this stop (why, I dont know lol). I thought it was lame. Definitely only a one time stop for me. I will never come back.
The only thing here to do was take a picture and cross it off my list. But really it's nothing special, the parking lot is close to the hwy, so that's good, it it's gravel road, and a pretty muddy parking lot. As for bathrooms- portapotties. They charge you 8$ per person in the car to enter. Wish they reinvested the $ collected into the pavement. Also there were about 20 booths of arts and crafts set up but most of them were very similar stuff . Like one booth of shirts, one booth of knives and rest jewelry. The actual spot where the corners meet was nicely concreted and clean.
This monument is pretty dope! It's a national monument but it's really just a photo spot, there isn't much else out there (other than vendors selling gifts etc, some porta potties, and a few trails) - so be aware it costs $8 to enter and if all you want is to see the monument, it'd be a quick in and out visit for that pic. I probably spent about 20 mins here just cause I wanted to look around at the vendors too but otherwise I drive an hour to take my pic, and about an hour back to Durango for dinner lol! Nevertheless, the pics came out pretty good, and it's neat to say you've been here/been in 4 states at once. Would rec a visit if you're not too far away!
About a 45 minutes drive from Cortez, this monument is deep inside Navajo territory. The monument is surrounded by chainlink fence. Turn into a dirt road and approach a small building to purchase your entry as you would at a National park. What you see ahead is a cinderblock wall. A small building down an incline holds pit toilets. The parking lot is dirt. If you have spent any time in the dessert, you know that hard packed, stone filled dirt, turn to mush when it rains. Be prepared for ruts and rocks, or muck, depending on the weather. Handicapped parking spots are available around the monument, but again, you are parking on dirt so the same applies to wheelchairs/walkers as cars. The entire monument is obscured from view by cinderblock walls. Parking against the walls is reserved for vendors who display their wares in booths that line the inside of the monument walls. Guest parking is a bit of a free for all (at our visit) with no signs, or direction all around the building. Just pick a spot and park I guess, except in the handicapped designated areas of course. OK then. Enter the monument at any of the corners where there is a break in the walls. I side are rows of seats in a square around the central monument. Ramps between seat rows elevate you, in each state, for a look down onto the monument. It is sort of fun to be in four geographic states at one time. Vendor wares are on display if you are interested in doing a bit of shopping. The people we encountered were very nice. This is just one of those 'have to do' tourist sites. It's not a blast. It's a monument in the ground. They do have a trail into the dessert. If you hike the dessert, summer or winter, be prepared. The dessert is dangerous any month of the year.
You have to go just to say you stood in four States and the Navajo Nation all at once. If and when you go plan on about 15-20 minutes to visit. Thats enough time to get a photo memorializing this feat. There are vendors selling native art and jewelry. At $8 a person for entry they got you. There are no discounts for seniors, military, first responders, teachers or children. The parking lot is in sad shape.
My mom and I have never been to the 4 corners monument, so when we were coming back from Mesa Verde National Park, we decided to swing by on our way to Page Arizona. It's an $8.00 usd per person price to enter, and once you do, you'll park in the gravel parking lot and head into the middle of the monument. Inside, there are several local vendors selling their handmade goods, such as necklaces, bracelets, rings, turquoise, dream weavers, etc... Lovely gifts and wearable jewelry. You're allowed to take 3 pictures per person, especially when it's busy. There's covered and uncovered seating that you can chill in until it's your turn to take pictures, OR you can chill with some Navajo fried bread. Either way, you have a place to chill... Highly recommend checking this place off your bucket list.
This was my first time on the Navajo Nation (Diné) -- and I have wanted to visit since college. So I was thrilled to visit the monument and the region. What a treat to be able to be in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico AND the Navajo Nation all at once! First order of business: Come with respect. You are on tribal lands governed by a sovereign nation. It is of utmost importance that you follow local customs and rules and take it as your personal responsibility to be well-informed before and during your visit. Also, now where you are going. The Four Corners Monument is in a highly remote, rural area. There are virtually no amenities, save a gas station some miles away. Be sure to gas up and get food if you desire before you get here. Note that there is a spot that sells fry bread and Navajo tacos on site, but it is not always open. I was sad to see it closed on this trip, as I love, love, love fry bread. It's going to be hot during the warmer months and much cooler in the fall and winter. Dress accordingly. The monument is open generally at 8 a.m. throughout the year and closing time fluctuates depending on the season. Be attentive to conditions and holidays, as the monument will be closed on all major holidays and during other times. It costs $8 per person to enter, not per vehicle. And you should bring a card as cash is not accepted. There were a number of vendors on site in booths circling the monument. Most were selling jewelry (often self-made), artwork, clothing and other items. As with any popular tourist spot, you are bound to have lines. And, yes, people were lined up (respectfully, thankfully) to take photos at the center of the monument. There are plenty of areas with shaded seating as well. I hear some people saying to plan 1-2 hours for a visit. It all depends on whether you want to visit with the vendors and take a walk (there is a walking area behind the monument that provides expansive views of the region).

I dreamed of visiting the Four Corners Monument ever since I was in middle school, so when my friend and I decided to do a spontaneous road trip to Texas during our college spring break, I absolutely insisted that we make a stop here. After you drive down a very long road and pay a few dollars to enter this monument, you are free to roam around the entire area. You really are in the middle of nowhere, so you will not wander very far! They have some vendors surrounding the corner that sell various souvenirs and jewelry. I bought a really awesome sand painted magnet of the four corners. Everyone seems to be respectful of taking turns for pictures, which was not too difficult because there was not a huge crowd when we visited. I was able to do something I had wanted to do for a very long time - do a backbend in the four corners! I was ecstatic. This is definitely a fun stop to make during your trip down the 40, but keep in mind that it set you back a few hours. read more
This place was very interesting to say the least it. I guess that I was expecting a lot more than was there. The atmosphere was nice The View was incredible of all of the surrounding area. However the monument itself is not as impressive. I feel that that it could have done a lot more to the monument itself to be more to the tourist impressivness to the Tourist however is it something I would go back and visit. I wouldn't see myself making the tour that way just to stop there again or to see the sites in my opinion I personally would probably visit all the areas you're so close to Utah you're so close to Arizona so close to Colorado. So in a nutshell I probably would not go back and visit a second time was it worth the visiting the first time the memories are there. But for all the people that have never been there and you're making a long drive over there make sure you have other plans to stop at other places as well. Because it's probably not going to be the best part of your trip. I feel like also another thing that was never really looked into was that the souvenirs at that location are incredibly expensive. Because you can actually take a drive not too far down the road and there's little shops nearby that sell the exact same souvenirs that you could buy at the four corners monument for a fraction of the price not saying to be stingy and not support your local vendors however. I don't believe buying a small little Stone for $30 is worth it if you can buy it down the street for $5. Most important thing you need to know, this place is in the middle of nowhere. Other than that, it's pretty dang cool to be able to touch and be in four different states simultaneously. It doesn't get very crowded, but a short line will form to take turns for photos. Bring cash because there is a $5 per person entrance fee. read more

Since our family was driving up to Yellowstone National Park from Texas, we decided to make this place a little roadside stop. Be prepared to pay $5 in cash in order to enter; we were definitely caught off-guard on this. Also, be sure you use the restroom before hitting the road to this place, unless you don't mind doing your business in portable toilets. We arrived here at around noon, so the sun was high up in the sky with no shade in sight. There were a few umbrellas that everyone waiting in line to stand at the monument shared, so that was nice. But if you're going to come here during the summer, be prepared to sweat a bit while standing in line. Believe me, I'm a Texan who's weathered through triple digit highs and I know what hot weather feels like. I myself did not find the line slow-moving, since it's understandable that people are going to want to take a few pictures while splayed across four states. We probably spent about 20 minutes in line, so take that as you will. There are stores with Native American crafts around the monument, so if you're with a group of people, you can all take turns walking around to make the wait a bit more bearable. Although it wasn't too big of a deal, being able to stand in four states was still pretty cool. Would definitely recommend a stop here if you're on a road trip passing by this area. It's perfect for people who love stopping at state borders during road trips to get a picture (I'm guilty of this as well). However, don't go out of your way to come to this place, because you will only end up taking a good hour or two that could be well-spent driving to your destination. read more

It's 4 corners...... of 4 states...... that's it. I didn't expect much. It's more of an "I've been there and done it" type of place to go to. I would say to go if you're in the area. To which I'd say "Why were you in that area?" Only reason I went is because I was going from Farmington to Vegas and we passed through on the 64 Highway. $3 per person. This is Navajo land. Take your obligatory picture of having 1 appendange in each state, check out the vendors (some good jewelry), maybe get a fry bread outside, then be on your merry way. read more

Only place in U.S. where you can stand in four states. Numerous shops for Indian arts and crafts that has evolved to a nice brick stands. Also refreshments and the fried bread is a must. $5 per person entrance fees a bit steep. It is just for a picture opportunity and we stayed there for less than half an hour. read more
One of my wife's goals in life has been to come to the Four Corners Monument do that she can be in four places at one time. This year we had the chance to visit here, but we left having mixed feels about the monument. Pros 1. The monument itself is very nice and it is well maintained. It lent itself as s great place to take pictures. 2. The shops surrounding the monument had a lot of unique items for sale. Only downside was that they were fairly expensive. 3. The surrounding views were also gorgeous and it was nice that they had hiking trails. Cons 1. The cost to enter the monument was way more than it should be. 2. The parking lot is a mess and not being paved mace it difficult for some people to get around because of the uneven terrain. 3. The bathrooms here were atrocious. We went to use them before leaving but decided to just hold it until we got to somewhere with clean restrooms. In the end we enjoyed seeing the monument, but wish that some of it's features could have been better. read more

This was a must see stop for us on our summer road trip and we weren't disappointed. BRING CASH...I was so glad that I checked Yelp before we got there and saw another comment about cash. The entry fee can only be paid in cash and there is nothing near by. It's definitely a tourist trap but novel and fun for sure. We went around 630 and the line to take pictures was still pretty long but moved fairly fast. read more

I agree with most. Taking pictures at the 4 Corners was fun; the bathrooms were terrible. Surrounded by tribal vendors, got two very nice ankle brackets at a very fair price. Wanted to have lunch but food places are all closed. Tribal museum next door was very interesting, worth the time. It's free. Glad we stopped on way through. We were there in April 2019. read more
This is really cool experience to be able to say you traveled to 4 states in one day! Ha! I did research and read Yelp reviews before going to the monument. The key part to remember is there is nothing else around here to see or do. Knowing this you know what to expect. I've had family and friends tell me they were disappointed because they didn't realize they traveled all the way there and there was nothing more to it. I visited the monument in January while visiting Flagstaff. I think going off season is the best time to visit. There were no lines and you could take many pictures (I've read you can only take three pictures because there is normally a line). It was really neat seeing the jewelry and art work the Navajos and Native American vendors make and sell. Overall it was a nice little road trip and I'm glad to say I've been there and done it! read more

Tourist trap! We were on the way from Colorado to the Grand Canyon and decided to stop and check out the 4 corners monument. The monument is located at the corner where 4 states meet (Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado). Upon entering the area, there is a $5 per person charges. I believe that the site may be located on Native American property. It is run by the native Americans. Once you get into the parking lot you realize that this is more or less a location for the native Americans to set up a flea market to sell their arts and crafts. The monument is actually just indicators in the pavement showing where the corners of the 4 states come together. We stood in line for 15 minutes, waiting to take a photo on the 4 corners, then left. We were in and out in 20 minutes and it cost us $10 for the two of us. I thought there would be more. I probably wouldn't stop again if I was in the area. If your looking for Native American crafts and gifts, they have stands set up along the roads everywhere in this area. Save your $5 read more

This place is neat for about five minutes and then it's time to get back on the road. The only thing I found interesting was the native arts and crafts. Real knives and arrows handcrafted from everything between obsidian to bone an antler was very cool. Other than that it's just a big disc in the middle of a gathering point where tourists stand in long lines fighting their way to the front with selfie sticks and go pros. Treat it like college experimentation. Spare me please, there is nothing special here other than if you spread yourself out you can have each quarter of yourself in 4 states. Can't say I was impressed. $5 per person entry is a bit much but I suppose everyone has to make a living. read more
This was a stop on our road trip to cross it off our bucket list. Off the beaten path a bit and on the Navajo reservation. 5 bucks per person to get in, there is a food truck on site selling fry bread tacos. (we didn't partake) and there are artisans set up selling their wares flea market style (nice people, we got a silver bracelet for a reasonable price) Yes the line is long to take the pic, but most everyone understands and it moves quick. read more
We arrived on Saturday evening of the memorial day long weekend. Approx 5pm. There was a line in the hot hot sun (not much shade unless you're a merchandise seller) to see and get your picture with the monument. It took us about 45 minutes before we got to the monument and were heading out. It's $5 per person (cash only) to get in, so for a one off thing to do while you're in the area, it's cool, but now I've seen it I probably wouldn't go back again. There's lot of stalls around the place, no pressure to buy anything but we did get a hat that cost $15. read more

The novelty alone of being in four places at once is dandy, and at a non-inflation-bound $3 a head (kids under 6 or are freebies), why not. (Not like the $16 a head crater, but that's for another day). Seems there's construction a-happenin', and if I were a betting fellow, the round building looks like a combination mini-visitors center / restroom (with plumbing?) to offset the porta-potties across the dirt lot. And there's already a glut of vendor spaces on the perimeter of the square concrete monument area. A healthy drive from the beaten track, and be mindful of the hours: they shift for summer and winter, and unlike Arizona proper, the Navajo Nation lands (of which Four Corners is a part) is in Mountain time, so rolling up at 4:05pm on your clock may still put you 5 minutes after closing time in the off season when closin' time is 5pm MST. read more
Since this location is only the borders of four states crossing each other so you could be in four states at the same time for pictures are great but that was it. There were some natives selling some souvenirs and other merchandise but i was not able to check them out because it was sooooooo hot! LoL other than a cool picture, nothing else seems great. read more
Not much here to see other then say you touched all 4 states at once: AZ, UT, CO, & NM. There's metal plaque that marks the spot. State words & flags. Expect to stand in line. Suppose to be only 3 pics per group, but there was no one to regulate that. There's lots of indians selling souvenirs around it. You can also try Navajo fried bread or tacos. read more

Why does a stone slab in the middle of the desert have a closing time? And how did they powers that be arrive at the odd hour of 4:50 p.m. for closing time? And most importantly, why is there not a moose I can punch? read more

Worth the drive. The Monument was busy on the day we were there. You are limited to taking 3 pictures per person at the marker which helps with the wait time. Booths around the marker sell Native American jewelry made by the locals. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. read more

I don't know how you rate a national monument . I gave it 5 stars because all the money goes to the tribe . It's $5/person (children under 6 are free). I warn you that there are only outhouses and they are pretty disgusting. The permanent bathroom structure looks to be almost complete and looks nice. Be patient for your iconic picture because there will be a line, but it's worth it and everyone paid to get this picture so let them snap away within a reasonable amount of time. My daughter is a dancer so she did a back bend on all 4 sides. Super fun! There are authentic gifts and souvenirs sold by the people of the tribe . Don't skip the fresh fry bread and sno cone shack! There's no shade. Absolutely none so dress accordingly m, bring water, and your own shade if you're planning on staying a bit. We were there for about 20/30 minutes. read more

It is out in the middle of vast, desolate and beautiful Navajo land. The fee is $5 per person. There are venders surrounding the monument with jewelry, art, T-shirt's, etc. The people wanting pictures stand in line and wait their turn. Someone is usually willing to take the picture for you. There are restrooms and a small food/drink truck. Was it worth it? Depends on how you handle the heat and long drives. I wouldn't bump something off my list of "must sees" for this, but if you're needing a "filler" on a trip....do it. read more

Worth the $5.00. I was there when it opened, first car in line. Got my picture, spent 10 min there and left. Not much to really see but if you're a dork like me it's neat. read more

It's gated and it's not free, so, no. You'd have to follow the posted hours for that day.
Are there any hotels or motels close by?
Closest is Cortez I think. An easy 30 min drive or so
Good places to stay that take a dog. Can you have a dog at the monument?
I don't recall seeing any signs stating it was prohibited. Other than the person collecting the entrance fee, there wasn't anyone "patrolling" the area.
