There were already a good amount of people and the parking lot was almost full, but there was still plenty of space for people in the springs. There isn't a lot of space to put your belongings as there aren't really any large open spaces, but people pretty much just put their stuff where they can. You can either enter the springs via some stairs that take you right to the deep portion, or you can walk around the springs and enter at a shallower section. If you do go in at the shallower section, be aware that there's quite a strong current that can be difficult to fight against to get into the deep area. I would also recommend chacos or sandals of some kind as there are a lot of rocks in the shallower end that can be very slippery. The water is VERY cold, so be prepared for that, but know that it will also feel amazing afterward and soak any body aches/pains away. The springs are one of the most beautiful swimming areas I've seen--so much beautiful nature surrounding it. If I could go there WITHOUT the loud crowds of people, it would be the most absolutely perfect spot to relax and spend a day. Even with that it was fantastic and I would 100% return.

It is not a park necessarily, but rather a park surrounded by residential streets. The river is beautiful. The short hikes along the river bank, to the civil war sites and to the forgotten town of Columbus, FL are all well worth your time. The campground is well maintained, with a very nice, and obviously new, restroom/shower complex. Most camp sites are fairly close to one another, but the trees provide some privacy. Super friendly ranger staff, as well!

Tallahassee served as Florida's First Capitol because it was located midway between St. Augustine…read moreand Pensacola. Lawmakers needed a central location as the journey from east Florida to west Florida was treacherous during the early 1800s. On a mission to find a mutually agreeable location, two sets of explorers met midway at former abandoned Native American settlement known as Anhaica. This became early Tallahassee which means Old Town (Talia+Hasi) in Creek/Seminole. The first Florida Capitol was a log cabin built in 1824. One hundred years later, a temporary replica was built. Another temporary full sized replica was built in 1974 for the sesquicentennial celebration. My dad was on that committee which inspired him to advocate for building a permanent replica for the bicentennial celebration in 2024. It was so interesting to hear about the process of building this most recent First Florida Capitol replica. So many people donated their time and energy. From sifting through historical records, to creating authentic floor plans when few existed, to donations of logs, to getting permits, it was a challenging to bring this project, a dream for my dad, to life. Having grown up in Tallahassee, I have always loved Florida history. It is nice to see a piece of history being brought back to life and to have my family play a role in that legacy. Florida is so different from when my grandparents moved to south Florida a century ago in the 1920s. I am happy to see history preserved while the city and state continue to grow. #2900

There are walking paths that loop around and through and must go for several miles. They have a small amphitheater in the middle where I'm sure there are performances and concerts here and there. A big splash pad is on one side, and I know the kiddos love that especially on a warmer day. They have a big playground on the other side, and there are some bathrooms as well just in case. Intertwined are some pond/ creek areas that add to the beauty of this park. It's a super lovely walk around, and my favorite part are the pillars towards one end that tell the history of Tallahassee- racial tensions, civil war and repair and more. It brings more light onto the capitol city and its roots.

I can tell you it's almost 900 acres large and they've groomed over 20 miles for trails. You'll have to find the sweet spot where the fishes are biting on your own. This is evidently a big equestrian hang. It just gets better and better. We don't ride but we sure love to visit! We took a couple of hikes here. With the existing canopy comes shade and comfortable strolls. We normally struggle to breathe in Fla. but with that shade and plenty of water (plus it's fall), we had no trouble at all. Cyclists and joggers have designated paths. They're dog friendly. They have restrooms at the trailheads and best off all....it's free! I would count on seeing us again. 11/24

The four freedoms were the freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, the freedom from want and the freedom from fear everywhere in the world. This memorial, which was designed by Walter Russell, symbolizes these aspirations of freedom and the statue also pays tribute to Captain Colin P. Kelly, a hero of World War II. I am a huge fan of roadside statues and historical markers. We need to remember the footsteps of our past, which led us to here.

It was free to go to beach it's open sunrise to sundown. There is plenty of parking and public restrooms but no lifeguards so you swim at your own risk. Very lovely beach with some shells. Definitely recommend and will go back when in the area.

It was practically sunset and the day was nearly done, so four of us went and just ate snacks and chatted the night away until we got kicked out. Beach is small, water is blah, but the views are lovely and the wind in my hair felt nice. We managed to snag a table right in front of the action and we saw many people pass us by. Coming from Miami, a beach like this one is unlike anything I've seen before. It's not crazy full of people doing who knows how many things at once. In all honesty, I only wish I had brought a paper and pen with me. It was the type of scene that gave me inspiration to write.

My trip here with my friends was AMAZING! We rented a kayak and traveled the river for about 5…read morehours of beautiful scenery. The river path lead through an area rich with trees and scattered "beaches". There were plenty of small homes scattered around the river and it was fun to look at them in passing. We stayed on site in a cabin. The cabin was beautiful! The interior was an older style with modern kitchen and restroom accessories, There were no Televisions or computers in the room and my cell phone didn't get service most of the time there, PERFECT, I didn't want technology to take away from the experience! The patio had a wooden swing and a few rocking chairs. The two bedroom cabin had a pull-out couch, two twin beds (which were really uncomfortable) and a queen size bed. Oust side was a grill and fire pit to BBQ and build a fire. The site also had a few nature trails with interesting facts and sights along the trail (sadly, we didn't see any "interesting" wild life. This was a wonderful 2 day vacation, wish I could have stayed longer.
