I did a lot of research on boarding for cats in the Athens area, and figured this would be a great fit considering the great photos and the super friendly staff. During my cats stay, he supposedly got out a couple times, and we were not notified until we came to pick him up, and saw he was in a cage instead of the kitty condo I had paid extra for. He seems to also have lost weight, assuming due to being stressed/maybe not enjoying the food. This would not be such an issue as if i had been notified i could've had someone bring his food to them. I also noticed a small scratch under his chin, no idea where it came from. I'm sure this place is a great place to board dogs and older cats, but I would not recommend for a rambunctious/playful cat. read more

Left my Std. Poodle for a week while I went on vacation and she was well taken care of. She's so well trained, she wouldn't poo in the run, and they were so good at watching her, they immediately started walking her 3x a day. I boarded my dogs here a while back. The facility wasn't as nice looking as their website portrays. My dogs smelled like urine and one of my dogs had raw pressure sores on his elbows when I picked him up. They both also seemed completely spooked and were shaking when I picked them up. With the pressure sores it made me worry that they just put them in a cement floor run with inadequate bedding and clearly were not clean given the degree of filth on my dogs. I've boarded them at Pawtropolis and other facilities outside of Georgia several times and they've never had any issues. I would highly not recommend. read more

I recently used Four Season Pet Resort when I had to come back home to host a baby shower. They were warm, friendly, and inviting the moment I called and stepped into the resort. The second thing that I noticed was the wonderful aroma that filled the air. I hate going to a pet boarding place and the main entrance smells like wet dog, pee, or worse. When I picked my dog up I was more than happy to see that they took their time with him and noticed that he wouldn't use the bathroom unless he was going for a walk (I would have hated if they hadn't and he held it). I will definitly use their services again, because there is nothing more relaxing to know that your four leg love one is in good hands!!! read more

First let me start by saying that my dog is treated just like a family member. As a matter of fact he has no idea he is a dog!! I am super protective of him and only want the best for my pup. I have used the other well known Athens boarding facility for the past two years. Twice now my pup came home with kennel cough and canine flu!! Needless to say, it was time to find a new place. After much research I decided on Four Seasons. I read the reviews and saw the bad ones, but considered that the biggest complaints involved pricing. I do not care how much something costs as long as they take care of my baby!! My dog ended up being a "must walk" because they noticed he would not potty in his run. Thank you Four Seasons for watching my boy so closely that you realized it and walked him three times a day. $3 a day is not much at all. I can't imagine walking him on a leash three times a day (he's a 115lb Labrador). When we picked him up he was happy to see us but still stopped to get petted by the staff that was outside handling other customers. I waited a few days to write this review because I wanted to see if he was going to be sick and nope, he is healthy, happy and playful. I would not hesitate to use them again and would definitely recommend them to anyone. When we take our next trip you can bet that Moose will be staying at the Four Seasons!! read more

First of all, I would like to say that I am not a former disgruntled employee or from a competing establishment. I say this because the owners of this facility can't seem to believe that any real person would write a negative review. I have waited years to write this review, but because one of my best friends just also had an awful experience, I am finally going to put my two cents in. It's very obvious that the owners of this facility didn't get into this business because they care about animals. They clearly saw that it could be a lucrative business so they figured they would take advantage of the market. I'm confident saying this because anyone who wasn't in it for the money would not charge for every tiny little thing like these people do. They are not warm and fuzzy people. We did not get a great vibe from them and they do not make you feel like your animals will be loved and cared for. It also really bothered us that they don't take the dogs out at all unless you pay for it (again with the money). I also clearly remember (not sure if they still do this) that they charged you to give medication to your pet. Who does that? Again, all for the money. Also, if your dog gets dirty and nasty they won't give them a bath unless, wait for it, YOU PAY FOR IT! What a surprise! You get charged $20-21 a day and you get absolutely nothing for it. We were done after one visit. UPDATE: In response to "Greg's" response, I would like to say that we've tried 5 other kennels in Athens/Winterville and none of them charged for every little thing like this establishment does. So I'm not exactly sure what he is talking about. Also, even if their prices are comparable to SOME kennels in the area, it doesn't make it alright to take advantage of customers just because other people are doing it. You get more flies with honey! As for my friend, she has addresses her concerns with this business and she was left feeling angry and unsatisfied, just like other reviewers. Finally, yes, thank you, we have found a kennel that we absolutely LOVE and that meets all of our needs, and I have already recommended it to my friend. read more

My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for an exceptional place to board our baby. I checked out this facility and fell in love after visiting their website and seeing that they have won an award for "Best Kennel in Athens" for 3 different years. However, after boarding my chocolate lab I will not be boarding with the facility again. Pro: The staff is extremely friendly! They really do care about animals and love what they do. It's a perfect place if you want your dog to not intermix with other dogs at all, however it is at a cost. Cons: The place keeps the dogs in kennels ALL day unless you pay extra for any kind of playtime. So you could pay $24 dollars for JUST boarding and then an additional $5 per day for ONLY 20 minutes of playtime. I'm use to boarding my dog in a facility that lets dogs play all day and are only put in kennels for feedings and sleeping. This place broke my heart when I have to leave my dog here. They even made ME put my dog in the kennel which made it much worse and made me feel like my dog thought I was punishing it. Overall, nice people, but it breaks my heart thinking that my dog is staying in a kennel all day in an unfamiliar setting. I like it better when he can play all day and stay distracted from the fact that he's not at home. read more

We boarded our border collie at Four Seasons for a week, and were so pleased with not only their service, but the staff members' genuine compassion and care for the animals they board here! Our dog gets extremely nervous during thunderstorms, and unfortunately a large storm passed through GA during his boarding; the wonderful folks at Four Seasons provided our pup with a thunder shirt, placed him closer to the desk so wasn't alone, and even held the poor guy in their laps for the rougher periods of rain and thunder! They genuinely care about the animals they board here, and treat them like their own furry family. I highly recommend this facility if you need someone to watch your pet while you are away. read more

So appreciate that they seemed to care about my pet as much as I do. It is never easy to leave her somewhere for the first time. I did a lot of research and it paid off. This place is clean, safe and run by mature grown-ups. My pet was certainly happy to see me when I picked her up but she was not exhausted or anxious which has been my prior boarding experience. I was hopeful that my dog would do well here but she did not. It took a few days for her to adjust to her normal routine when she got home beyond what is the normal. I communicated about some of her quirks and did not feel like the owners trouble-shooted her situation well even with multiple conversations about it. This place is anything but a "pet resort." My family had an emergency so I didn't really have time to do my due diligence and research on this kennel so I dropped my two dogs off without asking much. Boy, was that a mistake. When picking up my dogs, I asked to see where they had stayed and a girl rudely agreed. On this tour, I saw small cages which luckily open to the outside. There was water on the ground and flies everywhere. The worst part about it was that my dogs smelled like feces that was covered with some sort of cheap perfume. Not exactly my idea of a resort. The only good thing about this place was the rates but after all, you pay for what you get. read more

On initial visit, we were very pleased. However about 10 days later when our 2 kittens came down with giardia from their visit, we were not so pleased. I immediately contacted the facility and was told by their owner that there was no way it came from them and probably came from my house. I've had cats for 18 years and this is the first time we have left them at a boarding facility and the first time I've dealt with Giardia. I also only took 2 of my cats there since my 3rd cat is really old and feeble and it would have been too traumatic for her. The 2 cats that I took were the ones that got sick. The 3rd cat followed after the 10-14 day incubation period, so with this info, there is no other place that it could have come from. When I mentioned that to the owner, I was told that they were never out of their sterlized cage and so there is no way they could have come in contact with anything from their facility. We were told by 2 different employees when we called to check on them that the cats were out of their cage and running around playing in the cat room. When I mentioned this to the owner, he said that none of the employees would have told me that since they never take the animals out of their cages. The fact that I'm being lied to, the facility is denying any wrong doing, and the attitude of the owner, causes me to leave such a negative review. Here we are almost 3 months since our vacation we are STILL dealing with the effects. The giardia keeps reoccuring despite treatment all due to the facilities negligence. My families short vacation has turned into an extremely pricey one with vet bills in the thousands now. We are also having to deal with the possible heartbreak of turning our cats over to the vet since we cannot get rid of the illness and cannot afford to keep going through the treatment. Also, like the above poster mentioned, they highly stress getting a bath before you leave the facility. I have never heard of ANYWHERE giving a bath but not brushing the animal. You pay a ridiculous charge for a bath and they never brush them. If you want your pet brushed, it's even more, and they don't tell you that. You just find out when you go pick up a messy haired dog. Totally doesn't make sense. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

I have been boarding my dogs at Four Seasons Pet Resort for close to 20 years. They are the most professional pet boarding facility in the Athens area. Greg, Rebecca, and Joe are true animal lovers. When I go on vacation I always feel secure that my pets are being well cared for. Not once in the 20 years have I ever encountered a problem. Ever. My pets are my best friends and I love how happy my dogs are going there. I affectionately call it doggie camp. I feel like my dogs are staying with friends. They are very reasonable with their pricing considering the great care they give the animals in their care and the security that I have when I am away from home. Thank you guys.
