This review is my 2,500th here. I'm reflecting on what I used to watch as a resident of Minnesota and what I am hooked on since returning to the Twin Cities as a tourist. It's funny that when I first starting travelling back to the Twin Cities to partake in watching Minnesota Wild games, I stayed in Eden Prairie a couple of times. I then switched hotels and enjoy staying in Eagan these days. Little did I know that the two hotels that I stayed at were around the block from FOX 9, which is also known as KMSP. When I first moved to Rochester, I realized fast that there weren't any morning news broadcasts locally that I enjoyed before heading to work or getting on with my day. Instead, I scanned the channels that I had on cable and found FOX 9. Back then, I tuned in to Good Day, Minnesota. It was a morning news program with live features and more. I got my news, weather, and local events around the Twin Cities and beyond. Alix Kendall was one of the anchors. She is still with FOX 9 and hosts FOX 9 Good Day, along with the early morning news. I also enjoyed watching M.A. (Mary Alice) Rosko do live, remote stories. She retired a few years ago, but she was awesome. Ever since I returned to the Twin Cities to visit and take in Wild games, I am glued to FOX 9 when I start my day till noon. The personalities in the morning are relatable and great. Tom Butler, Kelly O'Connell, and Alix Kendall are the main anchors starting at 5 am till noon. FOX 9 Good Day and The Jason Show take a couple of hours out of this period to give the anchors a break. Dawn Stevens recently left FOX 9 after a fifteen-year stint as a morning news anchor. She co-started Friday dance-offs with Alix and Tom. Her last day was a Thursday, but they held a special dance-off segment just for her. It was fitting and touching. Keith Marler and Cody Matz are meteorologists that I often see in the morning. They are funny, witty, and deliver everything you need to know about the weather and developing patterns. Cody is a foodie, so it was enjoyable seeing him sample unusual ice cream flavours, such as mac and cheese, and pizza. The surprise for me was watching The Jason Show and getting hooked on it to the point where I stream the show on YouTube now. Jason Matheson is your host, with his sidekick sister from another mister, Kendall Mark. Kendall also does traffic during the morning news. Jason is funny and willing to share so much of himself, from his love for Disney and Dallas (yes, the 80's TV show), to being bullied for being gay growing up in Indiana, and sharing stories about his two dogs and husband. His show has cooking and event segments, but also does entertainment features. I have learned so much about where to eat around the Twin Cities and what movies to see through his show. The Jason Show has recently announced having a live audience again after over two years. It would be nice to visit the set and FOX 9, but it's so difficult to get tickets for a specific period that I'm in town for. I can stream many of these morning programs through the FOX 9 site. The commercials get rather repetitive, though. I can't comment too extensively about the evening news and programs on FOX 9. I am often out being a tourist, whereas I've had a couple of work-from-remote stints while in Eagan. It explains why I know the morning lineup far better. In the evening, I do tune in to watch Ian Leonard and his forecast. He is a Canadian, originally from Edmonton. FOX 9 was also the channel that broadcasted many Wild games while I lived in Rochester. I couldn't get tickets to see any Wild game, so it was a combination of seeing games on FOX 9 or through the NHL channel on my satellite dish. Ah, good times. I am glad that FOX 9 is still around and thriving. I love the programming, especially in the morning. Personalities are real and relatable. (127) read more

I use to be an avid Jason Show fan, but I noticed as his show got more popular and bigger, his behaviour was changing too, he began to say a lot of put downs against people and business all masked by a joke or humor. Jason has become a typical sterotype of a bitchy queen with his snarky remarks and behaviour. You have lost a fan, I no longer watch the Jason Show...I watch the View instead...at least they are up front with their remarks. read more

Why can't the fox morning show fix the voice dubbing. I have tried to watch it on Tubi and the voice dubbing is always off. Makes it unwatchable. read more

I wish The Jason Show was not in this timeslot. Maybe in the morning instead? I would much rather see the two former game shows (Who, What, or When - - and - - Pictionary) in this time slot. Or Judge Judy would be great in this noon-time area of the schedule. I find myself totally turning away from this channel because of The Jason Show. read more

Keith Marler needs to tell the weather and stop trying to be cute. He says the same thing at least over and over. Seems like he has a words of the day, and uses it over. Talks to fast to get it all in. My elderly mom cant even catch up. Leah Beno needs to take a breath, gasping for air during her whole broadcast. But In general I like channel 9 news read more

Please get the flower guy off of Good Day. Each time he is on its a repeat of what he said a week ago and the week before that and the week before that. I know he's on there to fill the time in but good God, find something else. read more

I'm sorry but I'm not at all impressed with the Jason show. I'm not a regular watcher but I have watched a bit here and there and keep wondering how this can still be on the air. It seems very ordinary, at best, and Jason seems rather phony in how he conducts himself much of the time. I must confess, I bumped into Jason at the state fair with my family, and he was pretty standoffish and l would even say rude. I get that the fair is a very busy and hectic time but come on... i watched fox 9 this morning and at 6pm. was hoping to understand how much snow to expect on Friday and Sunday. Neither meteorologist made any forecast as to how many inches of snow we should expect. I have decided to "86" 9 news. With the bad weather tonight, both Ian and Jennifer still laughed like hyenas. Enough. 9 is the most unprofessional news group in town. Ian is usually acting the clown. The other weather women like to laugh thru the news too. Even the news casters get into yucking it up. Tonight sealed it for me. I've decided your boy Ian has gills behind his ears. He never breathes, takes a breath. Or just stops talking. Completely unprofessional. I'll watch KTCA before I tune in this disaster again..... read more

While I enjoy Fox9 morning news anchors Hannah Flood just doesn't fit in with the rest of the anchors. Makes rude comments, is condescending and is always shaking her foot when sits with leg crossed, which is extremely distracting to viewers. Please stop! Is she aware she does this all the time? Especially when she is filling in on Good Day with Shane and Alix. Someone needs to tell her as not good tv news anchor behavior. She doesn't pay attention to what guests are saying either. I am sure she is a nice woman just saying she isn't up to the same level as all the other morning anchors. read more

It's not even news, it's just a weather show with a few lines of news sprinkle throughout non-stop weather. Annoying.

I had a great time as an audience member of the Jason Show! The process of getting tickets was painless, the security & check-in process was short & friendly, and the show was awesome! Erin Schwab was the "audience coordinator" and she kept everyone in-line during the show and during the commercial breaks. Jason was great. It was very interesting watching how things happen behind the scenes. Jason also spent some time talking with us (the live audience) after the show. He answered questions and told a few stories. The Fox 9 Studios are in a weird location...in the middle of everything in Eden Prairie, on top of a hill, but also down in a depression. It's really hard to find without GPS. Luckily, I made it with 5 minutes to spare. FYI, Fox is also my go-to for local news. I like them because they're usually politically neutral, more so than the other the local networks which seem to be very left wing. We shook hands at home tonight, agreeing we won't have the channel on during news. Why? All the laughing fools. Especially the " weather experts". I for one can't get past they station allows the staff to act like pre-teens on air. Especially some one named Jennifer. Laughs like a fool continuously. Unwatchable in my opinion. How can a station employ such poor talent? I detest 3,4,5,11. But I'll make one of them work, until someone at 9 wakes up, and cleans house on all the yucksters. read more

I recently had a chance to catch their news as they covered one of my favorite topics Yelp. http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/21192657/investigators-reservations-over-reviews They proceeded to present a fairly one sided picture of their allegations. The showed a picture of Yelp's local community manager but didn't take the time to interview her or anyone else from yelp (not even any of the elite reviewers - no one). They spent a lot of time repeating allegations and interviewing people making allegations but spent little time presenting any findings or evidence. They did cite a BBQ joint that complained that they had a lot of filtered reviews. Well I did the unthinkable. I actually tabulated the reviews that were hidden. If they were all unhidden, his rating would go from 3.10 to 3.47. An improvement yes, but hardly the result of a vast yelpian conspiracy. It certainly wouldnt change my mind one way or the other. The fox 9 piece completely ignored the obvious, Yelpers in general skew to the positive. My average review is just below 4 stars. Why, because I generally will avoid places I don't think I will like. According to Yelps FAQ 39% of reviews are 5 stars, 28% 4 stars , 13% 3 stars, 8% 2 stars and 12% 1 star. Thats an average of 3.74. So if you like your news light on the facts pick the fox. read more

Evening news is such a bummer. They sneak their opinion in whenever they can. Am I actually getting the news? Or watching a talk show. I will stick with only watching the morning show and Jason! The morning show and Jason are doing their roles super well! They deserve 5 ! read more

This is by far the most unprofessional news in the Twin Cities. The on air talking back and forth with each other drags on and on and is annoying. Just give me the news, weather and sports. I love the morning news, the Bizz and of course The Jason Show. I think all the news anchors are so personable and relatable. They make me the viewer seem like I am watching a friend. And the morning Buzz is always fun to watch and it is more relaxed and they like to have fun with it. And don't get me started with the Jason Show, he has become a part of my morning routine and he makes me laugh and I often find myself talking to the TV. Also, he is just as nice in person as he is on TV, I love starting my mornings watching Fox 9. read more

I recently moved to Tulsa, OK and was back in Minneapolis for work. It was like seeing old friends in the morning and evening news. I read the one comment by a gentleman that thought your news was "Fluff". Maybe he has not seen the other local broadcasts that seem to think everyone wants "Hugs" and act "High and Mighty".....Enough Said. (Little Pun there). Really now, the morning News, the Buzz and evening News I always found to be very informative. They all seem to be enjoying their routines and each other. Love the looks of the new set as well. Dont count on them even knowing the weather! UPDATE YOUR TECHNOLOGY, you are never even close to accurate on the weather! At the 10pm news you say its going to rain all day the next day, the next morning keith will say cloudy all day? Wtf? Whats the point of watching. read more
