It failed me as a customer through an agent (that was apparently terminated due to her lack of performance). I never had any issues with Dwayne Kappell, the person, and in fact, as he points out, and as I pointed out, my only interaction with him was very positive! He is an experienced and knowledgeable person. However, Yelp is designed to let us review our experiences of BUSINESSES, and in this case, there can be no doubt that Kappell Insurance Services (a BUSINESS, not the individual) really dropped the ball. The fact that we "never met in person" is true, but not relevant to this particular business transaction. I don't have to meet the CEO of Delta to voice an opinion or complaint of a bad flight experience. But lest there is any confusion, I have updated my review to 3 stars, mostly because Dwayne took the time to respond. I have no issues with the PERSON Dwayne Kappell - I've never met him and our only phone interaction was quite positive. I DID have issues with Kappell Insurance Services (and to a lesser extent Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield) and it was mostly tied to an agent that is no longer there. As Dwayne has moved to address these issues, I would say he is a concerned and proactive business owner, which is the kind of person with whom most of us would like to engage for services. The internet is indeed a wonderful forum where individuals can post their thoughts and opinions, and on a site dedicated to reviews, they must necessarily be "one side of the story" - they are, after all, reviews based upon the experience of an individual. By reading multiple reviews, one can get a better understanding of the "reality" of a business, and correct for isolated bad experiences. Unfortunately, the only people posting about this business on Yelp are myself (who obviously had a bad experience) and the business owner. Hopefully, satisfied customers will add their positive reviews and a truer picture of Kappell Insurance Services will emerge.

I feel qualified to talk about businesses since I have been with my dad at his business(engine cores) for 36 years. When I was in 8th grade we loaded 350's and transmissions because that was our dinner that night. Now it is a lucrative operation. I can speak from experience. I played softball with Dwayne in the '80's and early '90's. I remember when he was an investment consultant practically at minimum scale. I remember him being VERY driven about his business. He was nice,articulate, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and professional in his dealings. Now he has a location in the high-rent district on the east side. For over 25 years, he must have done something right. What I like best about Dwayne is you might not like what you hear but it's honest. Best way to do business. Period. I fully and heartily endorse Mr. Kappell as an insurance agent and would buy insurance from him were I not in New Albany with my dad's business. May God bless the man, his family, AND his business.

Maybe it was because I was a pre-law major, and breezed through the LSAT. Does this give me some sort of credentials? Uh, no, I don't think so; therefore, when I'm in a bind, I need to retain counsel. Indeed, I was in a bind, when I met Steve Barber. When I search for an attorney, I don't pick the first clown I see in the phone book with a colorful ad, and catchy line. No, I meet with about a half a dozen of them, ask questions, and make an educated decision. EVERY person we spoke to, had nothing but very positive remarks concerning Steve Barber. Now, how was I in a bind, you ask? Well, my wife and I sold a business, and the new owners, after approximately 9 months, defaulted. They owed us nearly $100,000, and we sure as hell were not going to just "forgive" this debt. No, we thought the best course of action was to aggressively go after them, and this required retaining the best attorney possible. During our initial meeting with Steve Barber, we were immediately impressed. Granted, I about choked when he told us his hourly rate, as he is far from cheap; but, you get what you pay for. Even though our case lasted about a year and a half, cost us $20K, and was stressful, there were several reasons to be impressed with Steve Barber: For example, our deposition was an act of brilliance. Barber, in my view (and his), simply, and successfully broke down the Defendants, and their attorney. In private, he referred to opposing counsel as a "Country Attorney", laughed, and said, "I'm having fun!" When the Defendant's attorney put his head in his hands, Barber looked at him, and said " Do you want to talk in private?" Basically, he was insinuating that we've got this, and we should begin settlement talks. Confident! Fortunately, this was settled at mediation, and we were finally paid. In fact, if we didn't retain Barber, we might not have ever been paid. He is aggressive, very knowledgable, and has the respect of his peers. Also- even though he is very expensive, I must say that his billing was extremely fair and honest. Great attorney, and actually a good guy as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was very unsatisfied with the representation by Attorney Andrew Carroll of the Deig Law office…read more He was hired to represent me for an appeal to a verdict. After the last court date, he assured me he would notify me as soon as the verdict was handed down. It was 21 days after the verdict before he notified me via email, asking if I had the ability to pay the judgement. I had to call, as he didn't tell me the amount. I told him I would bring the check the next day, when I delivered the check, I ask why it took 21 days to inform me, he said he would look into it. 11 days later I received another email stating he "mis figured", and I owed an additional amount, the other attorney advised him that the amount was wrong. He requested I bring another check for the remaining amount, I was unsure of his abilities to complete this task, therefore I sent a check to the attorney myself. I did leave a letter of complaint addressed to Steven Deig with my concerning information in hopes of discussing the matter. I have had no response.

Steve set me up with Heather Burton who worked on a Saturday for me so that we would be prepared…read morefor the next Friday hearing. At the hearing Heather brought with her the most experienced Family attorney in the firm and they did not charge me for him. This is a wonderful law firm that will help fight for those who have been wronged. I 100% think that you should be honored if they agree to represent you. Even the office secretaries maintain a high level of professionalism. Great job!
