My passage was booked for Gloucester, England, but I needed to find Gloucester Place in London. Being my first trip to the UK, I dutifully boarded the bus at approximately 20:00 hrs. I was tired after a long plane ride, and dozed for quite some time. Upon awaking I realized we were far away from any metropolis, but kept thinking somehow the bus would end up back in the London area again. Finally upon entering Gloucester, and only one other passenger on the bus, I asked our driver, David, if we were in a suburb of London. He told me we were 120 miles from London. Before driving any further, David called his dispatcher at Heathrow, and told of my plight. The decision was made to drive me to the depot in Gloucester (the end of this route), and wait for the next bus back to Heathrow. I agreed and was treated like a special guest until the bus was readied for the return to London Heathrow. After finishing his shift work, David waited with me until Simon came on shift and was ready to drive the Gloucester-London Heathrow route. I was only in the Central Bus Station for about 15 minutes, when another National Express employee (forgot her name) beckoned me to an awaiting Mercedes private taxi, with a driver dressed in a suit. I was carefully carried to my destination on Baker Street, near Gloucester Place, in downtown London. Even though I arrived several hours later than originally planned, I felt so pampered. Recently I went in to ask about options for travelling around USA, Canada and Alaska (they don't think of themselves as the USA, so I won't either). The staff member I spoke to was extremely well informed, although he admitted that he had not himself been to these places. He was very considerate and really listened to me before making suggestions. I always come out of this place feeling like they have created a holiday just for me, rather than persuaded me to do something I'd not really wanted to do (as has happened before with other agencies *cough* Thompson's *cough*). STA specialise in travel for students and young people, meaning that they have a great range and knowledge of backpacking and lower budget tours, travel and accommodation. I'm not quite sure what I'll do when I grow up and can't really use their services any more.

Many times I tried to book a flight though online with other agencies, but always have been disappointed, but STA travel is a brilliant agency to arrange your holidays and flights, as staff will try and help you to find a good, comfortable and cheap flights.

Check in was was easy, quick and painless we where checked in by Ethan from the front desk. I was surprised that we has rooms all to ourselves, the rooms where what l call traditional than modern, the rooms where spacious, king size bed. Bar area had plenty of seating where you had the option of comfortable sofas or arm chairs, with several massive tv's to watch the football, restaurant was in the next room where breakfast was served the next morning. Meals are served here, but we went to a burger place across the road, a few in the group had the fish & chips & it looked great. Breakfast was served in the large dining room where most tables where set for two than for larger groups. Breakfast was served buffet style, and there was a good selection to choose from hot or cold, there was a chef at the counter cooking eggs fresh every few minutes. Negatives where that you could hear a guy in the next room using the toilet, and traffic from the outside, apart from that it was a pretty good hotel and better than some five star places that I've stayed in the past.

The location of the hotel is good if you are down that way to watch Cardiff play. The signal wasn't the best but hey I was only their for one night so that was fine. The food was the usual standard hotel kind of stuff, if i had the opportunity I think I would have gone out for a meal. It is next door to a good sized shopping complex which seemed to have the usual shops available so if you have forgotten something shouldn't be a problem to get what you need. They have a large parking area and to be honest I am not sure if they charge for you to park there. The hotel was clean tidy and secure which is always a plus for me.

The rooms were a little tired and uninspired but frankly we didn't spend a lot of time in them and they may have been refurbished by now. Most of the evening was spent at the bar and the bar staff were very accommodating even late into the evening. Its clean in a great location and has a nice look and feel to it. This is a traditional style hotel and you might find it a little dated looking but the staff are very welcoming and come across like they are very happy to have you stay there. The hotel is on a busy road but I didn't notice any noise. As I usually do with hotels, I booked online and got a special deal. I was expecting to stay in a double room with an en suite but when we checked in we were handed a key and directed back outside of the building and around the corner to the mews cottages. This impressed me no end. As I opened the door to the cottage I was faced with a neat and tidy living room area with stairs to the left. I found it really hard to believe that this was costing less than a normal room in one of the city centre hotels. Upstairs was a large double room with a separate bathroom. This was not a hotel room, this was a holiday home. As I said earlier, the décor is a little dated and they could probably spend quite a bit of money refurbishing the whole place but the bed was very comfortable, the rooms were clean and because we stayed in the mews we were able to come and go as it suited without encountering any other guests or staff. I slept so well that I woke up later than I meant to and really didn't have time to eat the inclusive breakfast I could see that a hotel with facilities like this one would be ideal for a party of wedding guests.
