So, I had made reservations on Thursday evening, but our plans changed and we had to cancel. We tried again the next night, but had to pay a non-cancel "deposit" of 10 euros each for our party of five, 50 euro. But we were sure we could make it and booked. Now if you're thinking that the deposit was charged due to our prior cancellation, it's not the case since another person in our party booked the second reservation. It was well worth the deposit! Firstly, the location is in the Rembrandt area and very nice and active area. We were seated just inside the restaurant, with a very comfortable table, seats and window. The ambiance is great with popular music playing and a very bustling staff that is very attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu is vast and includes a lot of great options including French favorites such as frog legs and snails. We started with an adventurous order of the frog legs and they were amazingly good and the sauce was amazing! We ordered a bit of family style including the Cote Beouf, French onion soup, baked potato, fries, vegetables, chicken, ribeye. It was the perfect amount for the five of us and left room for dessert, which we ordered as a brownie and we asked for a custom dessert of ofogato, or ice cream with espresso poured over, an Italian favorite of mine! The price is reasonable and can highly recommend!

The streets were packed with families and the boats in the harbor were all lit up. The restaurants were all filled to capacity but on our third try we were able to get seated at Fuego. Fuego is beautiful inside and all the tables face giant windows on the marina. You can also dine on the outside terrace. Even in the cold temperatures people were bundled up eating and drinking. From the service, drinks, and the food our experience was wonderful. The Long Islands were strong and packed a punch. We started with a bowl of creamy tomato and smoked paprika soup. It was excellent. Good flavor and consistency. From there we had the seafood trio. Wonderful presentation of cod, gamba (prawns), and salmon. The flavorful burre noisette sauce was excellent. The steak was expertly grilled with a nice medium rare center. We passed on dessert but decided on coffee before heading back into the cold. Our experience at Fuego was great, five stars!

We stopped for lunch at the Fuego Bar & Grill, a classy, upscale pub around the corner from the boardwalk, where vendors peddle classic Dutch kitsch such as wooden shoes, traditional costume photography, postcards and other tourist bait (although the almost-next-door Cheese Factory Volendam and attached museum is absolutely worth the price of admission; you will not walk away with out a few wedges!). While not exactly traditional Dutch cuisine (the menu is similar to an American seafood and steakhouse, with some regional European flair), the steaks here were juicy and cooked to order, and to perfection. Salad was crisp and not drowned in dressing, and fries were thick, steak-cut and golden brown. While you won't get any adventure points for branching out and trying something new and exotic, you will have a hard time finding a better restaurant in Volendam.

I posted a picture of different type of meats they offer. You just have ur coin face up green side if you are still hungry and turned over to red when your full. Beware the kitchen closes at 9pm (2100). They serve dessert for an extra 6 euro like cake and flan but we were too full to try any. They serve cooked pineapple after 9pm which was delicious. They have small cinnamon bananas and cheese bread that the server has to bring out but you have to request it usually unless ur server is more attentive then ours. Those tasted amazing too wish I had more cheese bread and cinnamon bananas. Did not have a gluten free menu but did have some but very few vegetarian options. The hummus at the self serve bar was very good.

The food itself was very great but the service was not so great. Since I was here on business and sitting by myself they stuck me in a corner and not all of the meat servers arrived to me nor did any server come up to me at any point to refill my water or ask if I needed anything. I don't think I even got to try all of the meat. Unfortunately I think I would come back again here due to the fact that it is very close to the Marriott Courtyard but that is the only redeeming quality for this restaurant.
