What a great find during our time in Kerrville! We both had the lunch special. Service was great and fast. Food was so good!!

The service was very good and we really like the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was just not good. We ordered fried jalapenos and they were the typical commercial frozen cream cheese stuffed jalapenos you get from Sysco foods (though they were plated REALLY nicely). Salads were decent. Entrees were all pretty bad. I had the cilantro chicken and the chicken was so rubbery I couldn't eat it. The veg was sauted squash and the flavors were actually quite good, but it was so overcooked that the end result was also poor. read more

Excellence in every way. The service is always perfect and so is the food. We appreciate that staff and the owner recognize us and greet us when we walk in. The ambience is lovely - cool and elegant; a nice place for lunch or dinner. The patio is very pretty and it's fun to be right downtown in a historic building. The iced tea is flavored with a light spice blend and it is one of our favorite things. I enjoy the black bean nachos, the fish tacos, or the unique Chicken Salad Chalupa. Year round, they have a great selection of soups. The Gazpacho is a terrific Summer offering and during cool weather, the creamy soups are delicious. Year round, the Tortilla soup cannot be beat. Desserts are delicious too. The Orange Flan is wonderful and we also enjoy the Kiwi Lime pie, Tres Leches Cheesecake or Peach Cobbler. This restaurant is locally owned and seems to really appreciate their customers. We locals certainly appreciate Francisco's and are lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in our town. read more

Atmosphere is clean and cool with fun art on the walls while you sit at linen topped tabled. Fresh flowers add a much touch to the table. Good tunes and a friendly wait staff. Food (fish tacos and spinach salad with fruit and black bean soup) all came out promptly and fresh. Average to small portion size for the price point. Would come back for sure. read more

Came here for lunch during a visit for work. They had a nice patio that attracted me to Francisco's. I didn't have to wait for a table. I was put in a small corner of the restaurant. I had a very nice server. I had the lunch special which was delicious. The restaurant got very busy and the staff seemed to be working extra hard to accommodate the crowd. I had the Tampico Special and it was good. My wife had some cilantro lime chicken and the rice.... omg the rice. Would make you make faces it was so soured with Lime. Worst part was the service. My drinks sat empty all awhile my lady waitress was behind the counter playing on her phone. I had to look at her like wtf to get her to finally come take my order, and then again twice to come fill my drinks. I tipped her $6 on a $60 tab, and am one to ALWAYS give 20% or more for good service. For a higher end restaurant, she doesn't have the work ethic that it takes to justify paying what you pay here. This is my favorite lunch place in Kerrville, especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of a sidewalk cafe. It isn't Paris, but it still nice. We stopped in after arriving in Kerrville from a trip to Big Bend. The dining room actually felt chilly, so we choose to sit outside as it was a great evening. Our server greeted us very nicely and brought water, the wine list and menus. He also let us know about the specials for the night. My wife had the pasta with shrimp, and I had one of the specials (the Mexican plate). The pasta dish had a lot of flavor and was very light. The Mexican plate included a ribeye that was cooked perfectly. The plate had a ton of food on it, and it was all good. We had a bottle of wine and enjoyed the meal and the evening. FANTASTIC service, food and atmosphere! Immediately we were greeted and seated by our amazing waiter, Eddie and his trainee, Orlando. I had the special, fish tacos with tortilla soup and a local beer, Lobo Lito- a recommendation since I told them I usually drink Miller Lt - I don't eat chicken so when I inquired about the chicken content he told me only the broth- no hunks of chicken (which is fine bc I'm not a purist) My hubby had the special as well- Chicken Enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce. Here are his words: Really great. Had enough spice that the flavor was not overwhelming, but still had a kick to make it true Tex-Mex. Paired the meal with a decent Pilsner from the DR, Presidente. The Chicken tortilla soup was awesome. Very quick service. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Met the former mayor. Good sign when he eats here. Overall really great place for a quick lunch date. Class. That's what Francisco's has and why so many locals call it their favorite. The menu has many selections but they also offer specials that just might sway you to trying them; you won't be disappointed. Tip: Francisco's fills up quickly because it is not a large restaurant, so either come early or call and see if they can accommodate you. 2nd Tip: Go early and walk around the shops of downtown and the Kerr County Arts Foundation located in the old Post Office. Go into Wolfmueller's Book Store, a local legend. Sunrise Antique Mall has two floors chocked filled with antiques. River's Edge Gallery has a wonderful array of art work, much of it a western theme. All this should whet your appetite for a memorable meal at Francisco's. read more

I was shocked by the reviews. I decided to eat here for dinner based off of the reviews. Never again! First off the service.... HORRIBLE. Our waitress was more worried about being behind the bar on her phone then serving. We had 3 empty water glasses several times. The bread was under cooked. The salad was, salad, the dressing, ranch, was watered down. My husband had a special with a cheese enchilada, he didn't eat, a rib eye steak ordered rare, came out over cooked closer to medium well, taquito, was okay. My son had the cilantro lime chicken with rice and veggies. He enjoyed the chicken, the rice was very limey, and the veggies, well he is 14. I had the cilantro lime chicken with shrimp. 4 shrimp were good, my chicken was tough, my son ate it, my veggies were good, my rice..., well rice shouldn't make you shutter from the amount of lime in it. Very gross and unable to eat it with out puckering your lips. All of this for a price tag of about 70$. Would be bad if the service and food were good. We will not be back and I really wonder about these reviews. read more

This is a Kerrville staple. They have been serving up authentic Mexican style dishes for decades now & you can't go wrong with any of their dishes. The desserts are particularly impressive as well. They do not have a bar or alcoholic drinks, but with the consistent fresh quality food and service provided (at very reasonable prices) you won't want to miss eating here! read more

My husband and I love coming here for lunch. I can never resist ordering the chicken tostada salad served with soup - it's the perfect lunch! Hubby likes the fish tacos. The iced tea is sooo good - a hint of cinnamon makes it special. The service is always outstanding too! They are open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday, however, we have never found the dinner menu to be as good as lunch. If dinner was on par with lunch, I would have given 5 stars! Literally some of the most boring expensive food I've eaten. I can make a small sandwich at home with barely anything on it, slap a pickle on the plate, and come out spending waaaaay less than the $15 it would probably cost me at this place. Went to Francisco's based on Urban spoon reviews, bad choice. I found they are attempting to be an upscale steak and seafood Mexican restaurant, NOT. First they have a very limited menu, which they don't do very well. I had the Grilled Cilantro Lime Shrimp with Grilled Vegetables and Rice; my wife had the same dish with Grilled Chicken added. The best thing about the meal was the rice, everything else, at best, was just so-so. Service was very good. read more
