There are three permanently roped off, 50m-long lap swim lanes! It's big: Olympic sized (50m x 25 m). It's free: No charge! Capacity & time limits: Sometimes when it's really crowded (eg, hot and sunny weekend afternoons), a line forms outside the pool, because they limit capacity to a number that lifeguards can safely support. When there's a line, every 20 or 30 minutes, they'll ask everyone in the pool to leave the pool grounds, and then they'll invite the next batch of people to enter the pool grounds. If there's a line, you could try to ask the gatekeeper if they can say when they'll next clear the pool, so that you could decide whether to enter for that bit of remaining time or wait to enter with the next batch for the full time limit. Family friendly up to a limit: lots of big kids, little kids, babies. I'd guess the pool is 4 feet at the shallowest. There is no wading pool. Fun for grownups to hang out (in 2023): this season they've instituted adults-only hour on weekdays, 6-7 pm. I think kids can continue to hang out on land, but can't be in the pool after 6 pm. Showers are meh: There are 4 outdoor, totally exposed showers (and no indoor or private showers) and their drains tend to swamp with standing water, so you'll want to rinse your feet separately if you shower when exiting. They don't mind if you shampoo and soap in those outdoor showers. Also it sucks that they leave the showers on continuously, wasting hundreds of gallons of water per day. Great setting: Ample parking. Next to beautiful Please Touch Museum, lots of beautiful, soft, green grass for sitting or laying on, and the pool is surrounded by Fairmount Park's acres of picnicking lawn. The rules are pretty standard: wear a swimsuit, no floats. The only things that would make this pool better: more life guards to increase capacity, add a wading pool, add a snack stand (but then they'd always be overcrowded, so they'd have to hire even more lifeguards), let people use floats during adult hour. And clear the shower drain and fix the shower controls so we don't have to waste water and leave them on all day.

Recently, on 7/16 a health inspection was done due to the gross misconduct of the kitchen...they failed for storing food at dangerously high temperatures and having an unsanitary kitchen/food preparation area. The kiddos really love it! It's safe as it's completely gated. There's a neat playground, some boulder things they can climb, as well as a few different splash areas. They have picnic tables, but we prefer setting up a blanket under the trees in the back. It's perfect! There are some mosquitos back there so having some spray doesn't hurt. The park is very clean. No trash and well maintained, but the bathrooms remain gross however. Ugh! Just come prepared for that. I wouldn't dare let my kids use it as a changing room. Knocking a star off for this. We usually come during the week, earlier in the day or around dinner time if it's a scorcher. I believe those are the best times to come. There are school and camp trips made here regularly, so there may be groups in and out. Usually not an issue though. Don't let the kids run in flip flops. I've seen many slip and fall here. Invest in a pair of Keens or some similar water sneaker with traction! I actually find them at Payless and Target for a steal! It's a great way for them to go from water to the playground too! Bring toys and buckets. The kiddos love catching the water and splashing their siblings! :) We usually grab food from Grindcore House nearby or bring a picnic! There's a popsicle shop across the way on 2nd for some post play treats. A snack bar would really take this place up a notch!! The ice-cream man does sometimes drive by so make sure you have some cash if you don't want a crying kiddo. Always bring water though! Free street parking is plentiful.

Went to go back to the bathroom around 1:30pm to sit on the heater, very cold and windy, and the bathroom was locked. Why is that, game was not over until 3:30pm. Why are you locking the bathroom before all the people leave the field? This wasn't the first time either that bathrooms were locked. 2nd, I was just there last weekend for a game and the bleachers were there, this Saturday November 10th, 2018, bleachers were gone, WHY.

God gave me and my husband three beautiful daughters and today after going to Ikea, we've decided to find a playground nearby and explore the area a bit (moved here not too long ago) It was not easy to find the parking but finally we did. The weather was beautiful, I put the little one in the stroller and we walked towards this playground. Don't know why, it really doesn't seem like some special place BUT to me it really felt magical. Quite place, parents sitting on benches, kids running around, sun peacefully shining on all of us. It was like a sweet memory from the playground my dad used to take me. We absolutely enjoyed our 30 minutes of swings and slides. The place has a great atmosphere. You should check it out. Maybe you'll feel something sweet too. ;)

If that makes sense? Like, possibly, people who come here know one another and live nearby. After the renovation, the courts are new and the jungle gyms are more interactive and plenty of kids come by and play when the weather is right. They also turn on the sprinkler in the summer which gives families a nice way to cool off. There's things to climb, swing, and slide down. There's also a corner store across the street so it's easy access to popsicles and snacks and drinks to stay hydrated. It's a great addition to the neighborhood!
