Great firm highly recommended! They did a great job. They did a great job with my taxes.read more

Came to them not too last minute to get help with individual tax filing in a complex year, and I…read morehave never used anything but turbotax in the past. Their rate is not terribly low but I figured it would work out considering that they might get me a better refund than, say, HR Block. They offered the rate plus an hourly for their individual preparation, and I agreed. After entering my documents, my agent learned about my small LLC started during the previous tax year, and requested the relevant documents to file the taxes for it. Great! It is a tiny business- it seems my agent is going to throw this in to maximize the return. 2.5 weeks later, after an update request, someone else from the company sends me a message informing me of an added $750 plus hourly (!!!) for the LLC filing. It had been 7 weeks of their collecting documents altogether, with no other information provided about my status/return. I told them this was unacceptable and that in order to continue they would need to wave the fee or offer a discount. They offered $200 off what would be an extra $1200 or so. I'm throwing them a 2 star for at least acknowledging a mistake and offering a partial refund. This is probably too generous considering I'm paying them $230 in hourly fees for absolutely nothing but stress. Went to HR block and got a nice return for maybe a quarter of the price.

Horrible service. They have no idea what they are doing and filed my taxes completely wrong. I paid…read moreover $600 to do my taxes and they said I would get a return much higher than I received. Yaser did my taxes there and completely messed everything up. Do not go here

This review is for the WEST CALDWELL NJ office: I had my…read morepaperwork organized and ready to review, as this was my first time using H&R, IT WILL BE MY LAST; he pulls out the paperwork, does not even read cover sheets that explain what he is looking at, and within 30 seconds it was a mess. He had absolutely NO UNDERSTANDABLE knowledge of a ROTH 401 withdrawal and was asking me "does that sound right", are you kidding me! Had he taken the time to discuss the few pieces of paperwork I provided BEFORE starting his online filing, I would have realized "time to get up and walk out"; there was not so much as a calculator on his desk, I had to pull out my phone to use the calculator to provide him some totals, ISN'T THAT WHAT HE IS PAID TO DO! As for the fee; an additional 40.00 charge is quickly added with a fast talking explanation that this provides you with 100% audit support if it is found they did anything wrong, with a hidden line that explains if client gives inaccurate info, it is not H&R issue. Absolutely no confidence this tax filing is accurate and to spend another $250.00 to another firm is not within my budget. As I am leaving and trying to collect the mess he made out of my paperwork, he is asking me to click 5 stars on the survey, I looked at him and told him "I am not doing any survey until I get home and look this over". Well Yaser, here is your survey. Office environment provides absolutely no privacy; personal info was filled out online prior to my appointment, however I was still asked for my social security and other personal info for all to hear.
