This…read morepark has almost a one square block of fields where soccer games are played, mostly the recreational soccer games organized by the Parks & Rec Department of Orland Park ... but anyone is allowed to come on the fields and play, when not reserved for the organized teams. Our daughter played here in the large Kiddie Clinic Soccer program where they teach young kids the game. Great fun. This park also has two sets of playground equipment for children ... one each for the different age groups. There are also two basketball courts for those that play that sport, and three fenced in tennis courts for those that play tennis. The tennis courts have the added attraction of being lined out for pickleball games also. This is a great park for all to use ... and it is close by in the neighborhood. Try it ...

There were so many different types of birds and no chirp was the same. Squirrels playing in the trees, butterflies, bumblebees and more ducks than I have seen at one time. Nice to just put one foot in front of the other and follow wherever the trail went. This trail is located behind the Marianos in Oak Lawn.

On March 3, 2026, I was involved in an incident during practice where a coach directed vulgar language toward me ("get the f'n ball"). When I later responded in frustration, I was suspended for violating rules around language and conduct. So to be clear: athletes are disciplined for language, while similar behavior from coaches is not held to the same standard. I was told by leadership above the team level, including an individual from within Special Olympics named Amie Dugan, that someone would follow up with me within a week to discuss both the incident and my concerns about how athletes are treated. That follow-up never happened. It has now been almost a half a year. Because of this situation, I missed out on participating in state championships for basketball and the following softball season. That is a significant loss of opportunity over an issue I made a good-faith effort to address. This is not just about one incident. There have been multiple documented complaints regarding coaching conduct and professionalism. In those cases, the outcome has been minimal accountability, often limited to informal or insufficient apologies. In contrast, when athletes respond in similar ways, the consequences are significantly more severe, including suspension and loss of participation opportunities. Many of the athletes on these teams are adults with jobs and responsibilities, yet are sometimes spoken to in ways that feel disrespectful and infantilizing. When concerns are raised, they do not appear to be taken seriously or followed up on. I attempted to resolve this privately and respectfully. Being told I would be contacted and then hearing nothing for almost half a year shows a lack of accountability and professionalism. If leadership cannot follow through on something as basic as a promised response, it raises serious concerns about how complaints are handled overall and whether standards are being applied fairly. I hope this organization takes a closer look at consistency, communication, and respect--because based on my experience, those standards are not being upheld equally.

This is a great gathering place all year long . Today was a fire and ice event. As I walked in the…read morepark area I was greeted with a big gas fed bonfire . The stage had blocks of ice ready to be transformed into clever and stunning art . The setup in the small parking lot flowed smoothly . Great job by all the restaurants that participating in the chili cook-off . The samples were so diverse , who knew chili could be so different ? Hot chocolate was available at the front and s'mores trimmings in a baggy was being distributed by local police in the back . Small wood burning fire pits were putting out the heat to toast those marshmallows . There was a very well built bags board game from ice . It was fast and slick , the challenge was fun. Two other Photo Op ice pieces were in the lot and on the stage . The event ran from Noon until 3:00 . Just the right amount of time to sample ten specialty chili's and vote for your favorite . We stayed for the award ceremony , three trophy's we're given out . The people voted fat Rosie's as the best. If you missed it try restaurant week during Feb 17 - 27 . Although the fire and ice event will remain very special to me and my fiancee . The outdoor dance in the brisk weather with radiant heat from the bonfire was epic . And thanks to the little girl who took our picture. Great community spirit during less social times .

Breidert Green is the heart of Frankfort and many of its activities. Depending on the time of…read moreyear, there are so many diverse actitivities that occur here. There are Sunday concerts in the summer and Arts and Crafts fairs in the fall. There are ice sculpting events, chili cook offs, runs and out door movies. The Green is maintained beautifully with the stage set inside a replica of the former train station. It is located along the Old Plank Trail which runs on the old railroad path. There is even a magnificent public washroom which is always spanking clean. If you come to Frankfort, you will probably see the Green. It is at its best in the summer bloom or under the sparkling holidays lights. I just love it, however corny that sounds!

We are involved in a basketball league that uses this facility. Every Sunday my girls play games at…read morethis place. I have to say this place has two nice courts to play bball on, an arcade to keep the roaming siblings busy during the game, a nice snack bar, and clean bathrooms and amenities. There is a nice park adjacent to the field house which makes a nice place to wait in between games. Probably one of the better places we have played at.

I wish everyone in Frankfort would use the dog park instead of the Plank Trail as that would keep the Trail free of dog poo. That would be good for everyone else on the Trail and the dogs would be happy also. It is easy to register, pay the nominal fee and get a key card at the Park District office. Frankfort IS a hell of a lot more appealing since this park is there though. $50 and proof of your pup's shots gets you a year long membership. Included in that is private access to a massive enclosure that's all soft grass. There's shaded areas, free poop bags, and a time out section if your dog gets a little too excited to be frolicking out in the sun. It's honestly my dog's favorite place to play, and I don't even mind driving about 45 minutes from the city to do so.

But I will say that their baby and toddle swimming sessions are fantastic. They blow Lincoln Way Schools away. Their pool water is about 80-82 degrees which made by 18 month old and 3 year old super happy and willing to listen to their instructors. My 3 year old wants to go swimming all the time now, which is great. The Lincoln Way schools always had their pools super cold, we had gone to three different sessions there throughout the past three years, at two different schools, and the water was always cold. My kids hated it and they didn't want to go. But that is not the case with the Lockport swimming instruction program.

Just a warning the parking is kind of crazy. They have one lot for the park and the blue turf fields which is small (about 15-20 spots) and a other lot of the red turf fields (about 30-45 spots that fill quickly)
