Per their website, every piece must be original and made by the artist, who's present at the show. They don't allow MLM products or vendors selling soaps, lotions, or candles, which makes it feel more like an actual art fair. No shade to candlemakers. There's a great selection of food trucks and drinks, including beer, cider, wine, mead, and non-alcoholic options. I appreciated how the beverage vendors were spaced out throughout the event. It made getting a drink easy and convenient. It's a huge fair with hundreds of booths. I ate the mac & cheese bowl from a BBQ food truck. It was tasty but lukewarm. My companion had a corn dog and was disappointed with it so he helped out with my food. Dog are welcome at this fair, and there were so many, which - for me -made the experience even better. We found free parking about 4 blocks from the event, which is always a bonus. Lexington is doing art fairs right. Louisville could definitely take a few notes!!

My experience with Railbird 2021 was mired by insanely long lines for every thing imaginable. We…read morepaid Railbird several hundred dollars only for them to go out of their way to make sure that there were limited water stations and major staffing issues that prevented their customers from having a good experience. I even had an official come and speak to me because he saw me taking a picture of how understaffed a beer tent was. He started on the whole, "We can't hire help. Biden is paying people more to stay home." Meanwhile, he was not lifting a finger to help the people working the beer tent. I made a comment that he should be absolutely embarrassed that welfare pays more than he is. Either way, I was already sour, and I didn't need someone in my ear. We arrived to the shuttle pickup at Rupp Arena on Saturday afternoon and had to wait for over an hour to board the bus. Once we get to Railbird, I asked if there is a shuttle for ADA needs, and they said they didn't have one, so my girlfriend with ADA needs had to walk up the hill while pushing her scooter, etc. The ADA sections at the stages were fairly small. If they were full, then you were out of luck. We only got to sit in one ADA section for one concert all weekend. Only at the end of the day on Sunday did someone say that they had shuttles for ADA guests. Prior to that, everyone said it didn't exist. But even so, there weren't any available. I would like to note... - The music was awesome. My Morning Jacket absolutely crushed it. Dave Matthews, Jason Isbell, the Black Pumas, Magnolia Boulevard... They were all amazing. The music and the concerts generally didn't disappoint at all. - The people working the tents for food and drinks worked their butts off and I am proud of them. I feel really bad for them because the Railbird leadership failed them on Saturday in every way imaginable. - Sunday was much better. Lines were shorter, there was greater water access, etc. Whatever Railbird did differently on Sunday, they should have been doing all weekend. But they didn't. Instead, they actively chose to screw people that paid them several hundred bucks. Ordinarily, I wouldn't give a low rating for logistical issues, but these were so bad that they actually were immoral and dangerous. People were having medical emergencies because they were having to stand out in the heat without water for so long. If Railbird wants me or anyone else to come back, then they have got to reassure us that they've made every conceivable effort to keep their guests safe. If they don't, then forget it. I'll literally go do anything else.

At my age, it is difficult to stand for long periods of time and it is painful for me to sit on the ground. There are a very few seats under the tents but not nearly enough. It is amazing how much detail and work they put into making it feel like you've time-traveled back a century. Everyone's dressed up, there are vendors and shows of all sorts... There is just so. much to do. I really love how every weekend there is a different theme. I believe the day we went it was Christmas in July. If you go towards the beginning or end of the season, there is a big opening and closing ceremony with the king and queen. Turkey legs? Check. Have a glass of mead? Check. Watch some jousting? Check! It was honestly impossible to do everything we wanted to do in one day. This will easily become an annual summer event for us. It is a great nerdy escape that you cannot find anywhere else in Kentucky!

The festival was well-run and well-organized. The app made it easy to track how many crave-bucks you had left. The parking situation was intuitive and ran smoothly, making it easy to get in and out. Out at Masterson Station, parking is free, but it is $8 for admission which I thought was a little steep for this event. Granted there was live music and games for kids set up- I think even paying 4 or 5 dollars would seem more reasonable to me. We were given a map of the festival with our tickets which listed all the events for both days and showed the general areas (zone 1, zone 2, etc) in which the different food vendors were located. In order to get food from the festival you need to buy crave dollars which are dollar for dollar. The booth suggest that each adult would need about $30, but my boyfriend and I had more than enough food for $15 each. We did a lap around the fairgrounds first to survey our options & see what there was to avoid making any hasty decisions. I realize this sounds obvious but I really liked how you were able to sample a lot of different foods from a variety of places. Especially if you come with an eating-partner, you can get a lot of things and split them to really increase the items you're able to try. Loved this event and think it will continue to grow every year! One thing I'd like to see is more stations for water as it was pretty hot out- I only saw one ant it was when we were leaving. I would suggest doing what we did to avoid long lines and crowds- make it a lunch/dinner and go around 3:30/4- by the time we left at 7 it was getting crazy packed. All in all a very fun time!

We've always loved doing things that are train-related, so this was an easy decision. Riding the train? Even better, as I've always loved train travel. They have the coach, first class, and the new open-air cars. Those looked awesome, but since it was our anniversary weekend we were looking for a bit more. "A bit more" meant we got to rid in The Cab with the engineers! It was a totally awesome experience, sitting, literally, at the front of the train with the guys making the thing go. As I recall the engineers were Robert and Steve, and were really nice guys. They were funny and informative, and it was cool to see the "behind the scenes" while the train was in motion. The Cab wasn't as big as I expected it to be and the controls weren't really high-tech, then again this was a pretty vintage engine. It was fun as we heard them calling out commands and statuses to each other and with the conductor at the rear of the train. The scenery along the way is beautiful. Horse farms and rolling fields make for post-card ready photographs, and the limestone cuts along the way make you realize just how much work went into getting the track built back during the civil war. We were also told that, while the railroad ties are replaced very 25 years, the iron rails are still the original rails that were laid back then. Once we got to the end of the track we ended up at the Kentucky River, which was seriously cool. While it's no longer viable for river crossings it's still an awesome thing to see. We stopped there for about 15 minutes to take pictures and to take in the scenery. Back on board the train and now the Engine is pushing the train from the rear and the engineers and conductor continued their calls, making sure things were moving safely. Once back at the station it was time to disembark and visit the museum and gift shop, which doubles as the ticket booth. They have a nice array of souvenirs to chose from for anyone at any age. The museum is a bit on the small side compared to others we've been to, but at the same time it's perfectly sized for their operation. There is also a model train exhibit in one of the stationary rail cars, and a few other cars to check out on the grounds. We really enjoyed our visit and train ride - especially riding in The Cab - and we'll be back again. Looking at other reviews it makes absolutely no sense why someone would give this a 1-star rating because it was, in every sense, and absolutely awesome experience.

Very intimate layout with great access to food, drinks and bathrooms. Even with the diverse crowd, it was a great atmosphere. Sound and line-up was solid all day. My only suggestion would be to ban ez-ups and tents. They congest the whole viewing area and make it difficult to see the stage unless you're right up front
