Also nearby is a Tesco supermarket. This was my first visit to Frankie and Benny's since an awful experience (once again...) at their branch in Rochdale, which is their closest store to me but after hearing that they had a new gluten-free menu when talking to my coeliac friends, I decided to give them a try while passing in Altrincham today. The gluten free menu here now is much more improved and actually excites me, it includes pizza and pasta and although the selection of pizza is quite poor and it is basically only three to choose from which is simply: BBQ Chicken Pepperoni and Chilli (American Hot) Posh Margharitta There also is a limited range of pasta, which they didn't have on my visit however the gluten free pasta is Fussli which is more swirled pasta, which I don't normally like anyway based on past experiences. They also had a nice selection of potato skins, I ordered cheese, tomato, red onion and basil. They were okay but sadly nothing more than that and I have had much better in the past. This store did have free wi-fi which was awkward to sign up to, and I also managed to pick up a 241 deal on the app which was good, so I do suggest you download it before you visit here. My pizza was okay, actually, it was quite impressive. It is the second chain I am aware of to use a square base rather than a circular one to show it is gluten free, alongside Pizza Hut, but of course it is a different base. My pizza was slightly messy and the sauce seemed to be coming off abit and the cheese didn't seem to be fully melted but it was okay, it was nothing too spectacular but it did suit my needs at the time in terms of a quick yet decent gluten free meal in Altrincham, but it certainly wasn't the best pizza I've had and wouldn't even come close. The parking situation here is quite tricky, as Sainsbury's was closing I did have to pay to park across the way and the cinema has no parking of its' own I'm aware of, so you might have to pay for parking depending on when you visit. Service was also below average, the waiters seemed okay but not overlay friendly or helpful. Average Average Average Maybe slightly below that.. That helps to sum this place up hence it deserves a mid to high two-star rating.

Not pleasant at all...expect I was so hungry..i ate what I could...my friend had the burger...which looked pitiful. I would have taken a picture but my camera could not take it any more! The cocktails were average, you could choose a small or large costing up to £9.50..I probably enjoyed the glace cherry more... Overall, service was fantastic however the food seems to worsen every time I go to a TGI's. The drinks are overly expensive, and the food is expensive for essentially poor quality fast food. As for cocktails they are as tacky as the decor...if you come to the Trafford Centre go to the Thai Chow Pryer instead... This place does not cook things from fresh..definitely a place for mums that shop at Iceland but can't be bothered to go home and unpack their shopping.

TGI Fridays is one of those places that I only seem to go if I'm really trying not to have anything…read moretoo bad to eat. This is always a huge mistake, as the only thing that they seem to do is huge portions of food that, if there was any justice in the world, could give you a heart attack just by looking at it! Given that they are all the same, the TGIs in the Trafford Centre is absolutely no exception to this. In addition to the huge portions, the restaurant is pretty big too, with a couple of floors and loads of seating. The walls are plastered with all kinds of memorabilia, film and otherwise. I was quite happy to see the Boba Fett helmet on the wall, and they also have a life size astronaut! Now, onto the important stuff. As I mentioned, the portions are huge, and they generally all come with fries, although the TGI website does helpfully point out that they will swap these out for salad if you ask - not something that they readily advertise once you're there. That said, a small concession like a salad probably won't do you much good when faced with a behemoth of a steak (char-grilled of course), or a burger that's easily the size of your stomach, if not your face. There are the regular items of American fayre that you'd expect; burgers, fried chicken and steak all feature heavily, but there are other options. There's a tapas-y twist to some of the smaller dishes, with a deal on for 3 or 5. Picking up three would be great for one person, whilst 5 is enough for two. If you go down that road, I'd recommend the pretzels with Sam Adams cheese dip. This tastes almost exactly like warm Dairylea, but is oddly moreish - you'll hate yourself for liking it. If you go for anything meaty, you should definitely make sure that you have something with the Jack Daniels sauce or glaze. This is a smokey, sweet sauce, which has a little bit of spice to it, and doesn't really taste anything like Bourbon (which is a good thing, given that I can't stand Jack Daniels normally). You won't find it hard to come across something that you could have this with, given that you can get it on steak, chicken, prawns, and even salmon! As you would expect, at the weekends, and during the holidays, you can expect this place to be packed, with loads of kids about (it seems to be a popular place for birthdays, with no less than three renditions of the birthday song in the hour that we were there). So, don't go if you like it quiet. If you don't mind a bit of atmosphere, which I suppose you wouldn't, being in the Trafford Centre already, it's not too bad. Finally, a word on price - for what you get, this isn't the cheapest place to eat - most of the mains are in at between £10 and £20, with most hovering in the middle, but, for the occasional treat, it's not too bad. So, in summary, TGIs seems to be a great place to go if you're really in the mood for a slice of faux Americana, with a pretty decent selection of food and drink, with friendly staff and interesting things to look at if you get a bit bored of the conversations. Everyday they have a different soup and a hot and cold food option which is different to the main menu. They are generally extremely busy and it isn't unusual to see the shop packed. Therefore do ring beforehand but not during lunch as they won't answer the phone! The reason why people flock here is the Shark Special. It has chicken, mushrooms, onions with a spicy mayonnaise on a toasted hoagie. It has to be tried! If you are on the tram, stop off at Brooklands and grab a shark special (named after the rugby club which used to train nearby).

Toms 101 Bar & Grill is a modern restaurant catering throughout the day, they offer afternoon tea, evening meals, Sunday roasts (sounded really good!) & you don't have to have savoury you can just go for dessert! They also do a "late lounge" cocktails, wine, lots of fizz and live music. I had the scallops for starters & the lobster Roll for my main, my partner had the classic burger - it was nice and I would visit again but seemed pricey, from looking at the menu they do have offers on throughout the day and Sunday's we just went at the wrong time! A great place to visit though if you want a relaxing meal, some English cuisine, followed by the pleasure of live music afterwards, family friendly too :-)

It might also be worth remembering they serve a mind bogglingly good sticky toffee pudding. Despite having a tendency to hire staff for looks rather than brains, the front of house team are usually very capable. Its classy interior and open plan table arrangement means that the atmosphere is always good whether it's full or nearly empty.
