We stopped in here during a trip to Columbus mostly just to use the bathroom, but once the teenagers saw the hotdogs, they had to order some. Hotdogs are really slept on in Georgia, i got the bronx and it was a fantastic flavor combo. The hot dog had a grid cut that made it extra crispy without losing moisture, the bun was really nice, and there was two sauces that really complimented each other nicely. Pretzel in photo online looks nice and homemade but is really a frozen Super Pretzel that's been heated up to be so hot that you can't touch it for 10 minutes until it cools down. Was not good at all. Our group also had hot dogs and they were ok. 3 people, 2 hot dogs, one pretzel and 3 drinks was over $40 with tip. Cashier was nice though and delivered to good to us at our seat vs. going up to cover to get it. read more

This place is really good. I'm gonna be honest - even good hotdogs are still just hotdogs, but when they're prepared there's a huge difference between bad and good. I'm usually the type of person that gets almost everything available on my food, but there's far too many here. I got ketchup, mustard, mayo, sauerkraut, onion, relish, slaw, chili, cheese, oyster crackers, and probably something else I forgot. Somehow the workers worked magic and managed to both give me good amounts and keep it to where I could slice the dog and still pick it up. I'm used to hotdog soup, so to me that really earned my business. The vibe is pretty cool. I will say I prefer a fountain soda over bottles and fries over chips even though that doesn't fit the street food idea. They are super fast, super tasty, and both had sit down seats and made them in a way where you could grab it and run so if you want a dinner out or a quick bite they merge that whole street food idea with staying or going perfectly. read more

Nothing bad to say here. Went with the Bronx dog, which has onion jam, sauerkraut and brown mustard. All of the ingredients were very obviously fresh. Sauerkraut was delicious and crispy, mustard was spicy, and the dog was juicy and flavorful. My buddy went with the Chicago dog, and the same can be said about the vegetables in his. I've been to a couple of other hot dog spots in Columbus, but I have always wanted to try Frank's Alley. Yesterday I drove to Columbus for the food truck festival. I went to the festival but didn't eat anything because I wanted to try Franks and I'm glad I held off. Being from the Philadelphia area, the restaurant actually reminded me of an alley between two buildings because it is very long and narrow. The hot dogs, however, were OFF THE CHAIN. This place was beyond of what I expected when it comes to service, quality of food, and price. The hotdogs we had were excellent, the pretzels also were great ( recommend the everything pretzel with the homemade garlic cream cheese dipping sauce). The setting was excellent and clean, and although the place was almost full, the food was out in short time and it was fresh, on a warm bun, and very tasty. I used to live in Columbus and still keep tabs of what's going on, so when I saw the guys at Nonic talking up Frank's, I knew when I came to town I'd have to try it out. Oh and I'm so glad I did. I got the Queens dog which has kimchi and a Sriracha sauce (i think it rotates). Holy moly, is that the best dang hot dog I've ever had. Plus the guy that rang us up -- nicest man ever (pretty sure he was the owner). I'll be telling anyone who will listen to go check out this spot. Columbus just keeps getting better and better and Frank's is definitely a must try spot! read more

Such an interesting place to build a restaurant. Calling it an Alley is highly under rated. They have so much in such a small space, yet there is ample room to move around. I had the Coney Dog with Chili (real beef), onions, cheese and yellow mustard on a Brioche bun. The combination of the bun to the ingredients placed in it, complimented each other. There was more in my box to eat than I needed, but the taste would have made me eat more, if there was more.... Good thing I took it home to eat. Ok, I ate it on the drive, I couldn't stand the smell. MMMMMMMM......gooooood! The young lady that waited was very nice and answered all my questions. They got busy as I was finishing up my order but she tried to give me her full attention until I was headed out the door. The pricing was lower than I expected. Especially when you consider where the restaurant is located. I'm going to have to start visiting Uptown Columbus now. read more
