I am being generous with this review…read more Quality/Quantity - The better of the two markets we visited today. It was our first day here, so I needed to stock up on supplies - Water, fruits, snacks, and of course beer and wine, lol. I think I was spoiled by the huge upscale market that we went to every day in Nice. You know the one I am talking about, because you are following. Ambiance - Decent size, but an irregular shaped market. Has the minimum of everything we need. But it would be nice to have a full service deli, bakery, etc. Service - This is where it all failed... They/she had the hardest time getting our loyalty card. She struggled entering our phone #. Then the cashier started helping someone else with a complaint when it was finally our turn to check out. The cashier just could not figure it out, so she started going through her garbage to dig out all the previous receipts. The person behind me got impatient and started complaining. The customer that cut in line started complaining. I almost just left... Price - I did not even look; I just wanted to get OUT of there. Oh, everything we bought did not have prices, so all your labels need to be updated... What a mess! Owner Comment - Not sure what you need to do, but you need to hire better employees. Two for two FAIL!!

There was plenty of beer and wine to choose from (inexpensively) and along with meats, and cheeses all the usual items you'd find in most grocery stores here in the States. The produce looked fresh, there was good selection of frozen foods and though the store was busy, the line moved fairly quickly. You bag it yourself here, so it doesn't hurt to carry a bag of your own while visiting, or grab one of their reusables cheaply to bring back to the US with you as a souvenier of your overseas adventure.

Quality/Quantity - My emergency and last resort to get a beer or two for my night cap…read more Fairly easy in and out; a block or two from our hotel. Ambiance - A small local convenience store. Near the hotel and train station. Not the best of neighborhoods, but it runs better than the other convenience stores in the area. Service - Self service. Price - Convenience store prices; for these situations, I don't even look at the prices. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1958 with approximately 640+ locations.

These aren't items we can really bring along from home, so depending on our destination, local stores may not be abundant. I had no idea what we'd find in urban Paris. However, we ran across FranPrix while waiting for a restaurant to open. After buying some water and lugging it almost a half mile back to the hotel, I then found this location about a block from the hotel. Oh well. I did not shop here extensively, but we made use of it one morning to pick up a couple of items. They opened at 8 a.m. These are space-limited urban stores, not some 2-acre suburban American mega store. Understand that going in, and set expectations accordingly. I don't mean that in a bad way; they seemed to make decent use of the space they had, and their selection was fine. I was happy to find this chain existed. These seemed pretty common, so there could be one near your hotel or near close Metro stop.

2 of 2 Yelp reviews…read more Quality/Quantity - I really enjoy hanging out with the locals when I travel. To see what the locals eat, drink, do, etc. Decent size market, both indoors and outdoors. Not sure what the relationship is between the Aligre Market and Beauvau Covered Market, but because they are literally next to each other. I feel they were the same/similar market. So this review will reflect that. The products/produce are so fresh and flavorful. Ripe. Meats, seafood, flowers, etc. Everything is so fresh. There is even a "thrift" shop market here?!?! Ambiance - Decent size, both indoor and outdoor. Again, I am connecting the two markets. Service - Good. Price - Reasonable. Expect farmers market prices. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

Drafted in 2019, decided to post for future reference: This…read morewas my favorite farmer's market in Paris. Tons of fresh fish, meat (both raw and prepared), cheese, and many fruit stalls. I especially loved the prepared meat in the stall near the entrance (they have many prepared items to choose from--I ended up loving the duck foie gras and duck rillette). Also, people were helpful and willing to deal with my poor French :) As another reviewer mentioned, there aren't many (perhaps any) ready-to-way meals. But I wasn't looking for that, and I found the quality to be fantastic.
