This is a very convenient grocery store to get the essentials when you don't have time to go farther out to a big supermarket, or when other stores are closed (this Franprix is notably open on Sundays until pretty late). They have an adequate inventory, although it is not uncommon for me to come in looking for something specific (for example brined chicken breasts or a certain flavor of premarinated steak) and find them to be either out of stock or low-stock, especially on a Sunday night. In addition, their selection of produce will probably do in a bind, but I definitely go elsewhere if I want to be sure to get really fresh fruits and vegetables and have the time to go further afield.
The store's ambiance and level of cleanliness are acceptable but nothing more. Sometimes doors in the yogurt aisle are randomly left open (I assume this is done by careless customers), and once I did buy a pack of bagels that I noticed after paying was already torn open (I ran back to the store a few minutes after checking out and the cashier let me switch it out, no questions asked). The staff are professional and efficient but not overly friendly. Check-out gets easily backed up if one customer decides to do their big weekly shop, since usually there is only 1 cash register manned unless that 1 cashier specifically calls for reinforcement over the PA. About a month ago I saw they were trialling an automatic check-out system but so far it doesn't look very popular (you can't scan your Franprix loyalty card and it does not accept American Express whereas the regular cash register does).
The store is also a handy hub for various other services. There is an Amazon locker in the back, as well as a VintedGo locker, so I have picked up a few packages from both services here and it is very convenient. In the front they also have bins where you can recycle old lightbulbs and batteries, which is not something you find in every Franprix. They also have a photobooth where you can take pictures necessary for certain administrative purposes (drivers' licenses, passport renewal, etc.). read more
