In the morning the store is loaded with delicious looking treats and by 3pm all it has left are a few meat pies and some apple pies... SOMETIMES they even close EARLY if they sell out! Everything is made there in the kitchen/workshop in the back and it all is amazing! Taste like your grandma just baked for you! The prices are so cheap and the goods so delicious! The Apple slices are my favorite! And I love their fruit pies! Sometimes I think about getting a job here so I can learn how to bake these delicious things!

By the entrance is an aisle of prepackaged sandwiches, ready-to-eat items, and soft drinks for those looking for a quick lunch or snack to take away. Towards the back center of the store is an aisle containing household cleaning supplies and toiletries. Credit cards are accepted; street parking is available.

This is quite a large store than the ones that I'm used to in Glasgow City centre, and could easily get lost in this one very easy. The shop does have the usual cash machine, but sadly no Costa coffee machines that I'm used to, still a good store even though the donuts that l bought tasted funny. Right next door they have their own butcher shop, so strange as l didn't know that the co-op did butcher outlets.

Their bakery goods were mostly gone by the time we stopped by, but the pre-packaged cakes were utterly adorable. Came across boundless types of Pringles and Kit Kats that we don't have in the US, I'm jealous. But they did not have flavoured coffee creamer. I don't understand.

All I bought here were bananas and a drink. Everyone was perfectly friendly, but because it's a Walmart type chain, I'd give it a 2 or 3... except that they saved the club. So they get a 4. I don't like ASDA, I just like making acronyms out of their name. However this particular ASDA, which I went to as a token of appreciation when I played my concert in Perth (one time only, have never been back), because they saved St. Johnstone. The stadium here was falling apart and was probably going to be closed down and the club had no money, but this store bought the land, and paid for a new stadium to be built in the west of town. Not sure why or how they did it, but thank you for saving the club. ASDA has pretty good prices even if they are the Walmart of the UK.

A smaller Tesco We…read morewere staying in Johnshaven for two nights and needed some groceries (meat, veggies, salad etc.) This was the closest branch around. It is a smaller Tesco (no Krispy Kreme Donuts....), but we ended up getting what we needed. Good Lamb Chops for just 4£, Scottish Dry-Aged steak for 8£, some mussels, salad, veggies. And - as usual - good and reasonable priced wine. Quality of the products was good as usual. Another good visit at Tesco, we always like it, never let us down.

Lovely staff there that isn't afraid to ask where you've been if they haven't seen you for a week. Of course, I was always a bit shy on talking because as an American, I felt like a rock star when living in Scotland. Why? Wherever I would go and talk, I'd always get, "You're not from around these parts. Where ya from, hen?" I'd feel bad because the queue would get held up from the friendliness of the cashiers or regular workers no matter where I was. I miss that kind of friendliness, but am happy to always drop in whenever I'm back in Scotland.

Especially for students not owning cars or bikes, Morrisons can be quite a long walk out. That aside, the store offers most of the items one would expect to find in a well-run supermarket. Plenty of fresh produce, meat, a large selection of drinks, non-food items and sometimes fantastic savings on products. Adjacent is also a petrol station.
