We paid the 2nd audit thinking we didn't have another choice because that's what the IRS told us when we called. As some of you know it takes a couple of years for the IRS to even notify you if you owe money and they hit you with several penalties. So when we got the 3rd Audit because of the wrong tax forms being filed, we went to John and had him look at it. We never thought about a CPA before because in our minds it was just as expensive as paying what was owed. John was so helpful and looked over them quickly and we were able to send in a amended tax return. We got back notice a couple of weeks ago that the amended return was accepted. Not only did we not owe the back owed taxes, penalties, late fees, We got a check from the IRS! John saved us over $6,000.

This accounting firm shouldn't even be called an "accounting firm" in that their practices are…read moreshady. The did a "formal" accounting for a national franchise and allowed franchisees to vote past the closing date of the votes which is completely unethical. Worse, than that, they sent out an email to the people that did not vote (only those and not the people who did vote) and encouraged them to vote past the deadline which would effectively help the franchise that retained them to do the voting process since the voting process was based on a "percentage of votes", meaning that if I switched my non vote to a NO vote, it could effectively help the franchise get to the required numbers of votes. I am sure if things were going "their way" that they would have closed the voting. I calledand emailed them to inquire what kind of process would allow them to encourage votes past the deadline and they did not return my call. Shame on Mike Harris for being a part of this process. He should have encouraged the franchise to retain a truly independent accounting firm, one that they did not have a relationship with.

I cannot believe I am the first to review them even though I have been going to them for a long time and they have been open with the same name and address. I have been going to Conlon Tax for over 13 years now. Even though I am located in Grand Prairie, Texas, I still trust this place. Mary has always made me feel completely comfortable that my taxes are being handled correctly and I am not in fear of the IRS coming down on me. She used to work for the IRS so I completely trust her. We tried a local company that my sister recommended in between our time with her and unfortunately my sister was flagged for audit and had to pay back almost every penny she got extra.. Almost $10,000. It was a very painful learning lesson. Where was the local company that did our taxes? Closed and no where to be found... so I decided Fed Ex'ing my taxes to Mary in their Waco or Temple office was worth the extra expense to know it is being done right. We were told that if we were ever audited they would help us and I trust that Conlon would be. They have been open for a long time and hopefully stay that way. One day we will travel down there to actually meet her and say thank you for the peace of mind she has given me and my family. But until then, she will continue to receive my taxes via Fed Ex.
