Okay so I normally wouldn't review grocery stores but after randomly reading (to my great amusement) the reviews at this location, I wanted to add my two cents. I live nearby and shop here periodically, sometimes for curbside pickup and sometimes in store. If I'm in store I generally use self checkout but not always. First, this store is huge. So if you need the motorized carts (there are plenty), park closer to the gas station side of the store. If you're looking to get your steps in, hopes any entrance, walk a lap around the outer aisles and then once up and down the rows and *bam* 10,000 steps! Actually it's not quite so many, maybe 1/2 mile of walking. Lots of selection on any topic. The CBD candles are a favorite of my cat, a tortie who hates visitors but will tolerate them if we light the CBD candle. She also likes to eat rose petals and prefers the orange mini roses. Thankfully, FM generally has a small bunch of mini roses in the sale rack for a couple bucks. Cat doesn't care if they're wilty. The produce is always great. I often find discounted herbs which I can use or freeze immediately. I shop in store when I want to go hunting for a deal. When I get curbside pickup, the people delivering to the car always ask if I have paper coupons to apply, I've rarely had anything out of stock, and they pick really good produce. Regarding grouchy customer service people- I haven't encountered any but I'm sure they exist. We all have grouchy days from time to time. Get them with kindness and smile for no reason. And buy your cat some roses. :) read more

We needed some groceries and this store was by our hotel so we gave it a try. I was not familiar with the brand but when we checked out we found it is part of the Kroger family of stores. It is not Central Market, but it is a very clean, very large store. it has everything in terms of basics and then some upscale sections with fresh made foods to go, sushi, a fish section, a bread section, a cheese section, and a meat market. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. There is a Chase bank inside the store so that was really convenient. If I lived in Camas (a suburb of Vancouver) I would shop here often. read more

Do not trust them with your jewelry. I wish I could give a negative star. The scary pale lady ft. big dental implants and red lipstick with short blonde buzzed hair and the brunette woman gave me back my ring and band covered in black residue after "cleaning" them. They told me they would only use the ultrasonic on both band and ring. Instead their excuse was that they were both black because they buffed them, leaving them both covered in black clay like residue. Even after "cleaning" them a second time they still have black residue between the diamonds. I had previously planned to get my new band set from here and now that is out of the question. This store is pretty firmly under construction right now. So I got there pretty close to store opening. The hole time I was shopping I felt pretty defeated. I had grabbed one of the motorized carts and just assumed (since it should have been on the charger all night as it was plugged in at the store opening, as I said. It started doing the battery critically low beeping not even half way through my small shopping. Thankfully someone had left a cart in the front of the store but there were tons of employees everywhere and not a single one ever offered to help at all. I was not about to transfer to that cart, go bac to an entrance and hope that another motorized cart was actually charged. But employees are not available - if anything I kept having to get out of there way as they were aggressively stocking shelves and seemed intent to run me down. This is our local Fred Meyer's. You'll find the store very well stocked with anything and everything that you could possibly need. From groceries produce meats, cheeses, furniture, toys, games, tools, you name it they have it. This is also one of the cleanest stores I've seen. we really enjoy shopping here. read more

Most of the people who work at the Freddie's on McGillivray in Vancouver WA are friendly and helpful. Shawn Trimbow who's assistant manager told me that an employee complained about me because I don't say please and thank you to her. What a petty prima donna.He said that I should avoid using the check out lane with she is the cashier. I told him that her tone is abrupt and he told me to let roll off my back because that's her personality and she does that to everybody. When he said that he was scratching his nose with his middle finger it looked like he was flipping the bird. WTF totally weird. I will only come here when I get a really good deal. Fred Meyer and Safeway are way too expensive. The managers act condescending and dismissive from what other people have told me. read more

Not all Fred Meyers are created equal, but the 164th and McGillivray location is among the best in the Portland Metro area, and my preferred store in the region. After a renovation a few years ago, many objects shifted locations, and to be quite honest, not everything is laid out in a way that makes sense. Even so, this particular location has several features going for it, that raise it above the bar among other Freddy's/Kroger locations, as well as other grocers and home furnishing stores. First off, it is one of the few that has both a fabulously stocked cheese counter, and a full salsa and olive/tapenade bar, both of which I am a frequent customer. The Zuniga's Hot or Hotter salsa is one of the best mass-market salsas you can buy; it's the only salsa for which I will pay actual money (I usually make my own). I'm a fan of any deli that stocks Boar's Head products, and among their various offerings, the Salsalito Chicken is incredible, and not always available at other locations. The liquor shop has a solid (yet mostly unexciting) array of standard mixers, pretty decent for a grocery store (although the nearby QFC has them beat on selection and quality of said selections), and a healthy offering of wines and beers that is unrivaled outside of specialty stores (like BevMo and Total Wine). The store is always clean and well-staffed, although the staff is not always as attentive or helpful as they could be. Produce is fresh and clean, well-stocked and the veggies are always healthy looking (no Walmart or WinCo quality crap here!). Also, the gas here is super cheap (price-wise) already, and even more so with accrued discount points (a paltry loyalty bonus, but it does come in handy once or twice a year). read more

customer service workers probably need more training. They do not understand their own policies. They made me drive 20 mins home and back to grab a paper receipe to exchange a new tv. They said the digital receipt was not acceptable. I drove home and came back just to be told that the paper receipt was not needed. There was a manger on duty that said the same thing. The stores policy and solution to pricing errors is unacceptable. Twice in one week at self checkout, final total after all the deductions was off. Checked recipe found the problem (Fred's errors) I pointed the error out to the attendant ans was told both times "You'll have to go to customer service for your refund" The customer service in the middle of the store, with a couple of people waiting in line @ 7:10 AM on my way into work. Is it FM policy to purposely make correcting the stores pricing errors so time inconvenient no one will bother? Sure seems like it. Safeway, Traders Joe and Winco fix a mistake at the register. Why not Fred's? Don't trust the employees, or betting customers won't bother? was off. read more

I don't usually review grocery stores but really appreciate the poke they have been making for the last few weeks. It's sold at the fish counter by weight. It's $8.99/pound and comes in 2 flavors, shoyu and sriracha. It's made fresh everyday and is similar in taste and texture to the poke you can buy at the Hawaiian grocery store chain, Foodland. The fish is salt cured which gives it the traditional firmer texture which you don't get at poke bowl joints because the fish is dressed just before serving. I hope they keep making it. Check it out. The rest of the store is fine. I shop here every week. Check the freeze date on any "previously frozen" meat or fish. If it's over 6 months, don't buy it. The sales are good and the people who work here are great. Never to big a wait at checkout. Overall a pretty good store. Way better than the one on Mill Plain. read more

Fred Meyer - poke!!!!!! - Grocery Near Me - Vancouver, Washington

This breaks my heart. It's been my favorite store for 25 years. It's not the same though, and in the last two years has gone steeply downhill. Twice I've had issues where I needed to return something but the code was wrong so they couldn't find the item. One time they watched the tapes and saw it was rung up but with a nonexistent item number so I didn't get what I paid back. And the issue people are reporting with erroneous math on their receipts has happened to me multiple times here. Finally, while most of the other stores have been buying new handicapped carts, Freddie's has about a third of what they had 2 years ago, and always a line or disabled people waiting, or turning around and going home. It's easier to make a second trip to target and shop at Safeway rather than waiting an hour at Freddie's for a cart that is never available. It's just not worth it anymore. read more

Bakery department...you guys are awesome!! I've been getting my son's birthday cakes from this location for the last couple of years! I bring in pictures that I have drawn (as seen in my attached photos), and they put it on the cakes! (As long as it's not a character/item that has copyright laws, etc. they'll do that with whatever you bring to them at no extra charge like other bakeries do). I usually get their tiny "smash cake" size for our little guy to mangle & devour, while the round cake is perfect to cut into & serve for the family. Our favorite is the banana cake with whipped cream frosting & vanilla custard/pudding filling - very moist, light, & delicious!!! I can't recommend them enough!!! I have been progressively disappointed in Fred Meyer since Kroger bought them. Recently the produce has taken a downhill slide with soft potatoes, soft grapes, reduced supplies of staples. The canned goods selection is almost all Kroger brand now with fewer name brands that I depend on. Meat selection is down as well. Soup bones are not available for one thing. The one thing that has remained constant is that he staff is friendly and as helpful as ever. The store is a mess and becoming more warehouse like all the time. I seldom shop there now. Rancid fry oil and bad customer service: Dear President Dennis Gibson, As you know communication is important but time consuming. I am taking the effort to reach out to you because of a unprofessional experience I encountered at my local Fred Meyer store. I was standing at the Deli to buy some fried chicken. There was a strong odor of rancid old fry oil. I have bought fried chicken at this deli before and it never smell bad like it did today. Another customer was also waiting to purchase some chicken. I asked them," Does it smell like rancid oil to you?" The customer agree with me, it smelled bad. When I asked the deli worker who was at the fryer, when was the fry oil changed? The worker told us that it had been change 3 weeks ago. The other customer and I exchanged glances and turned our carts around and left the Deli. The smell of rancid oil is not good. This criteria is based on the assumption that a careful, experienced cook pays attention not only to the quality of the frying oils, but also to the hygiene of the kitchen. If a frying oil smells rancid it does not adhere to the State Health recommendations, the owner of a "clean" establishment will be warned to take care of the frying oil in use. The owner of a "dirty"establishment will be asked to improve conditions as well as the quality of the frying oil. Your Store Manager, Roger Heiden, had a epic fail at solving this customer complaint. His first response to my compliant was, " Oh that food worker doesn't know what he is talking about." Anyone who deals with customers should be able to resolve issues without throwing the hot potato to somebody else. His response to my concern that the a rancid smell of fry oil was a health dept issue, "Oh, we have the health inspector here all the time, I used to be a restaurant owner so I am familiar with health inspections." At this point, I know he is blowing me off. I asked him when was the last time the oil was changed? He said we have a filtration system, and that he didn't know when it was last changed. I asked him to please look into it and give me a call. He said yes, he would take my number. But I did not believe that he was really going to follow up. He was exhibiting a patronizing superior attitude. He talked down to me like my concern was not warranted. At this point I raised my voice to loud but not yelling. During our encounter I did not swear or act unseemly. I am sixty-six years old and it is not in my nature to do so. Part of the issue is that large businesses like Fred Meyer dominate our day-to-day life - by the nature of their size, they choose not to invest in customer service. They have enough market clout and know that no matter how mad you get, you'll still have to deal with them. I said I get the feeling you might have not been a good restaurant owner. I asked for his name, and he seemed reluctant to give it to me, but after me insisting he did. I asked if he would walk over to the Deli with me so he could smell the rancid oil. He said No, I am not going to do that. He told me that he felt I was coming at him, and he doubted he would call me back. And then he walked away from me. This can hemorrhage into a bigger problem: unmotivated and burned out Store manager. Or is this case a bad one. Something you definitely don't want - you need them handling issues with empathy, efficiency and a positive attitude. Store Managers need to be able to understand the full service cycle that a customer experiences - and how it affects them. I hope you read this, but at this point I have little faith. We have two Fred Meyer stores near our home, one is closer and our "go to", but sometimes this one was convenient when we were out and about. No more. They greatly enlarged it at one point, and there's a LOT more there, but most of it isn't things we're looking for, and the grocery signage is difficult to read if you're not sporting 20/20 vision. Going down the middle aisle and hoping for the best, I still feel like I'm on a quest of some sort and not comfortably grocery shopping. I was there this week to pick up a couple of things and they now have instituted a "scan and go" system with handheld devices to ring up your own groceries on the fly, as well what appears to have been a doubling up of the "self check" stations and more important to me, the elimination of any express checkout via a clerk as a choice. They seem to be determined to eliminate the checkers and other staff and to put the workload on the shoppers. No thanks. I can bag my own groceries at WINCO if I want to, and many items we commonly buy are as much as 1/2 the price there. Now THAT'S a good idea. Bye-bye Freddie's McGillivray! read more

I live in Tacoma but ordered something for my brother-in-law in Camas to pick up since it was out of stock in Tacoma but I would be down in Camas next week. I placed the order for pick up a day later with my brother-in-law picking up instead of me. It was out of stock, which I understand happens. It wasn't a huge deal, it was only a $20 order, but this poor review is for the service I received. I got a message from my sister that they went to pick the order up and he was told an order had never been placed when I clearly placed an order, my account was charged, nothing was refunded at the time (until right after my phone call almost like someone was trying to cover their asses), and nobody had notified me the order had been cancelled by email or phone. So I called their store directly to find out what the hell was going on because if it wasn't showing as cancelled he should be able to show his ID and pick up the order. I was told it was most definitely cancelled as it was out of stock- again, that's perfectly understandable- but when I voiced a complaint that I was never notified about the cancellation by phone or email and I know that if the busier Tacoma location could contact me on a cancelled out of stock absolutely identical order then they should definitely be able to provide the same service and told them I would like to speak to a manager to complain about the person who should be handling cancellation notifications. I was told "Sure" and abruptly hung up on. I'm leaving this review and will personally talk to the manager in person next weekend because honestly this kind of customer service is unacceptable. read more

I revisited Fred Myers and service was great and employees are friendly. There is plenty of parking but watch out for kids they seem to come out of nowhere. It is in a convient location so always busy but I got through the checkout line quick. Prices are reasonable yes win co is cheaper in some things but its the service I like. You get everything at Fred Myers even furniture. They now have a load dock where you pay and drive to get your merchandise. I like the rewards because saving 10 cents off gas comes in handy and up to a 1.00. I will continue to shop at Fred Myers except maybe at Christmas time it gets crazy. I'm not one who easily adjusts to change, so when the store went through the summer long remodeling I was skeptical, but I am happily surprised with the results! The entry way to the produce is filled with flowers and so bright and beautiful. However, this can make it difficult to move around when it's busy. Different check out lanes were added and the self-checkouts I believe increased from eight to twelve. All of the aisles were shifted and the layout is completely different. Most people wander completely lost, making me not feel as ridiculous. That being said, I want to give credit to the old woman who, during the remodeling, was walking up and down where the aisles intersect and helping everyone find what they needed. Very helpful! I love that the wine and liquor was moved to where the electronics used to be. It's kind of in a weird location, being away from the food, but it's well organized with more room and it's away from the crowd. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the new look and it will definitely take time to memorize the location of everything. read more

I am at this store at least 3 times a week. It is in a great location. The store is overall clean and organized. It does get pretty busy and chaotic on the weekends and week nights. I try to go late at night or early in the morning to beat the crowds. When it is busy, it seems like they have a difficult time restocking. There always seems to be some staff just hanging around not doing much. But then there are the staff that you see working hard. There are some really friendly employees there such as the flower lady. She has recently become a cashier too. She is great! They have great prices on gas. The gas station is always busy so I try to go on my way to work at 6 AM. read more

After a lot of yelling she finally made adjustment to my bill. She then told me that next time I needed to wait until 7. I told her that next time I would go to somewhere else. Can only speak to the gas. It was fine. Plenty of spots to pull up and get gas. Parking lot of fairly busy. Watch for pedestrians. This review doesn't seem very helpful so far so I will add in some non-related advise: Careful not to use too use too many over-the-counter pain relievers. Wild salmon is a healthy option. What have they done to this store?!?! I used to love shopping at this store for its convenience and intuitive layout. Both of which are absent now in the new floor plan. I can't find anything I'm looking for in this store anymore whether I'm searching based on where the item should be located (such as breakfast items with breakfast items) or if I'm trying to look up at the isle tags for the item I am looking. In either case, I can no longer find what I want to purchase in this store without having to spend on ungodly amount of time searching the isles. In conclusion, I have just decided to start shopping at the Safeway located at Mill Plain and 136th Ave because I like the layout a lot better. read more

I want to recognize the jeweler at this store. My 25 year old wedding set needed the channel sets (for 7 diamonds) retipped. It had been done once before and the original detail of the setting had been lost, sort of washed over the crisp edges, but a well known local company. Also, the cost of repair had risen to $600, so I put it off a long time, only wearing the rings for special, low risk events. I picked it up from the Fishers Landing store last week and couldn't be happier. The crisp shape is back, the diamonds gleam and it looks new again. AND it was only $300. I know the cost of gold affects repairs, but couldn't believe I could get it fixed so reasonably. Thank you, thank you, thank you. read more
