I called three different major national/regional plumbers on Sunday night and none of them would come out and I had to schedule one for Monday at 8am. None of them would even give me a quote range over the phone. I called Campbell's in the morning since they are local and had great reviews and explained the situation to them and the work that was needed and they quoted $1300 over the phone. The major regional plumbers showed up and the quote with their "discounts" was $2359. Campbell's was able to come out this afternoon and complete the repair. They were great from start to finish. Jenn was great over the phone, friendly, and extremely helpful. Nick did the work and he was very nice, explained the job, and did a great job with the repair. It's unethical and illegal to do so especially when dealing with a customer facing a vulnerable situation. Other companies charge under $75 but I discovered that after dealing with CSA. I called three out of curiosity. Furthermore, he mentioned that he was coming from a location less than three miles from my home. Therefore, referring to $135 as a "discounted rate" for a trip charge is laughable. You live and learn. The office didn't tell me before hand that the trip charge would be this excessive. The guy Jack did a visual assessment (less than 8 minutes then hurried out to his next run). It appears like what he was confronted with was over his head so he didn't offer to repair the job.
