(each cookie looks different, but they all have the same no taste, on each one) They look good as at first view, but then you pickup the melted chocolate(not supposed to be melted) you look at it and realize they do not resemble BiscottI in any way, shape or form and are just cheap versions of short bread ingredients, not even good short bread! The packaging is much more expensive and impressive than the actuary product. Please do not be duped in to buy this junk/crap garbage! The franchise giants have moved from their cosy old location on East Street into a much larger establishment thanks to the arm and leg they have been charging for pastries in more recent years. I understand the concept of inflation, but what's goin on guys? Ok, so I ordered 2 plain beef pies ($7) and 1 vanilla slice ($3.50) - straight to the point - beef pies: perfect pastry, firm crisp edges which held it all together and gave a pronounced crunch, sturdy base, pie top had that nice flaky 3 dimensional texture that you want, the internal beef was succulent and saucy with none of that chewy white cartilage / bone that you get in your cheaper 'Darby's' pies. Could be the best pie I've ever had. Now, the vanilla slice - scrumptious. Fluffy vanilla custard centre, layered / flaky exterior pastry that had a biscuit like feel, smooth sugary white icing that I could drink like water if it was made available. Now normally I'm sittin on my balcony flickin off the passion fruit, but not this year! These tasted sweet and artificial? I'm not complaining! But I question if these are $2.50 better than the $1 Darby's vanilla slice? The prices almost take away the King's appetite... (almost). We stopped twice during our week in the area, because they were such a treat. The place may not be anything special to look at, but you can tell the effort goes into making the pies delicious. One thing that surprised me was that the gal gave us a little discount on one of the pies, because it got a little darker than she would have liked... even though we had thought nothing of it. Just goes to show that they care about their product too. There was some seating outside, but we took our food across the road where there were a couple of picnic tables and a great view of the river and birdlife. It is nothing fancy, but if you're looking for a quick and casual lunch, this a place that I would stop at again.

We roll into town equal parts excited and 'hangry' from travelling. I've always felt we we're like the four weary travelers in the movie Ice Cold in Alex when the get into the bar at the end, we're parched, we're disheveled and we're starving. What prompted me to write this review is, I had family visiting from over seas, who in two weeks have tasted much of what Australia has to offer and could lend fresh views. Having an outside perspective and taste buds of theirs has shifted my thoughts on this place being just a food stop to, in fact, being pretty damn good. Now if you'll indulge me here for a moment. In the pie eating industry, anyone who knows what they are talking about will know that if you don't have your pie heated in a shop there is a temperature you expect your pie to be at. That sweet spot between hot and tepid enough so you can eat it whole, like a snake. In technical terms it's known "Dinkum's Ratio" Where the point of heat is equal to that of the point of stuffage. The Cheese and Bacon, the Steak and one other meat one all hit this sweet spot proving it was no fluke. 'Dinkum's Ratio" has been applied, flawlessly. The interesting test coming when my brother forgot to get ketchup and ate his without. It held up well, the gravy did it's job and kept that bad boy juicy and all three had a nice crispy pastry. The deserts all went down well. The buns went down a treat and the apple pie was loaded with apple. the winner of the whole visit though, agreed by all was the lamington. The thing was the size of your fist, softer than a cloud. Family members who don't even like coconut were reduced to licking the last remaining flakes of coconut and sweet chocolate off their fingers to taste it's glory if even for a split second. The lunch took a seismic shift from "these pies are pretty good" to "lets find a tattoo parlor and get that lamington tattooed on our chests". Don't let the basic appearance of this place put you off. For a simple pie/bakery joint this place is bringing the heat with their products. If you're driving by and debating whether or not to make this town your stop, I would. Just like the end of Ice cold in Alex I run my finger down the bead of water running down my ice cold chocolate milk before I skull it only to say that immortal line "worth waiting for' and all things combined, it is. Still not convinced? The public toilet just a short distance away plays the soothing sounds of Burt Bacharach.

The food menu is odd as it didn't have any prices but we were hungry. There were sausage rolls, pies and cakes but we were after bacon and egg rolls. Opting for the burger we were pretty impressed as it had egg, bacon, haloumi, avocado with a jam sauce. Asking for an iced coffee we got a coffee chilla which was very good with coffee, milk and ice cream with vanilla. The choice of seats was from a lounge, tables with low and high chairs and there were tables and chairs outside. No problems with parking as this place is well away from other shops.
