I bought a mattress at Fred's Beds. After about 2 years it had a large sag in the middle. I went through the warranty program from the manufacturer and got a credit. I had to use the credit at Fred's Beds. I looked at another mattress that was on sale and wanted to purchase it. The manager (Maurice) told me I could not have the sale price because I was using a credit. I had to argue with him to get the sales price. The new mattress (3 years old) now has a sag in it as well. Even though I would get a credit for this mattress, I will not go back to this place. They sell junk and are not reputable. read more

My elderly mother purchased a mattress from Fred's Beds. The mattress itself was not the problem. The problem is that the men who delivered the mattress stole two necklaces from her room while delivering the mattress. One necklace was a very expensive gold coin and the other while not expensive had great sentimental value as it was given to her by my sister-in-law who died from covid this year. My husband called the store only to be given a runaround. We have filed a police report, but the whole point is that when trying to let the store know that they have thieves on their payroll, the manager could not be bothered to come to the phone and the store employee would not say anything. I was very disappointed this afternoon. Drove 30 minutes to Fred's beds on Hwy 17 in Hampstead and arrived there at 5:30 PM as planned. The website and the door listed the closing time of 6:00 PM. When we arrived, they were already closed. read more

I wanted to replace my existing queen size bed with a king and didn't want to buy all new furniture. I took a door to my existing dresser to see if I could match the color and style I currently have. Maurice, the sales man was more than helpful in finding the right king size bed frame that would fit in nicely. No up selling, which was great. The day of delivery came and Nick was so precise in setting up the bed, he did such a wonderful job. As a new-build homeowner in WR, we were looking to purchase a king size adjustable mattress set for our bedroom. Joel was extremely helpful in showing us a variety of models in our price range and gave us time to try each one while explaining the features and benefits. This was especially challenging during the pandemic (yes everyone wore masks and it was by appointment only), but they brought out new mattresses for us to sample as well as new bed covers and pillowcases. We did not feel pressured and was in constant contact from POS to Delivery. Delivery service was excellent - they made sure that we understood the features of the bed and ensured that we were comfortable with the height and set up. They show up high to work, they drop mattresses, often injuring people, they scratched my brand new hard wood flooring, they ran into and shattered my glass storm door which I now have to replace (I am renting to own), and to top it all off, my "brand new" mattress set is infested with bed bugs. I called to complain and they called me horrible names, like "bitch" and "cunt", and openly admitted to having had multiple bed bug infestations in the past and that it is no surprise to them that my "brand new" mattress set had them too and they refused to do anything about it or refund me my money and hung up on me multiple times. read more

My husband and I ordered a king size (2 twin XL) box spring on a Friday late afternoon and were in a rush to get it delivered the following Monday. We ordered the half height box spring since we did not want the height of the mattress on top of it to be too high. They delivered as promised on Monday and the following morning we decided that we should have ordered a full height box spring as the bed ended up not being high enough. We called Fred's Beds that Tuesday morning explaining that we had ordered the wrong box spring height and if we could exchange it for the full height box spring. Called numerous times about the missing pieces as well as the damages to part of the furniture which we discovered later that day after removing all the wrappings. Never recieved a return call. Will never do business with them again. ------------------ I would rate it zero stars if I could. I ordered a bed for our son back in January that was supposed to take only a week to arrive. Every week since then, when I called to follow up, I was told next week, next week, next week. Then it was around March when the bed was promised in May. I called again in April to check in and they confirmed we were still on track for May. I called in May and left messages that have been unanswered. It is about to be June, and 5 months later I'm still waiting for the bed we paid for in January that was supposed to take only a week to arrive. When I call, I get the run around, and that they will call me back with an answer. Except that they don't return the calls. Can't help but panic now that we are out over $500. read more

On May 6,2013 I purchased from Freds Beds in Wilmington NC, a beautiful futon and frame and an additional futon mattress. I also bought two beds. Along with this I got mattress covers, protective covers for the mattresses and covers for the futons. All of this totaled about $3000.00. They could not have been nicer. Turn it around after multiple calls and speaking to Maurice regarding a problem. Weeks went by and no return calls. PLEASE do not buy anything at this location and for that matter the other locations. For your information the other Freds Beds in Eastern NC are owned by the same lady. Stay away from them and invest your hard earned money into a store that you can trust. He wants to take your money and yet you are left on your own if you have a problem. I also learned that the Wilmington store is the "headquarters" and where the owner works out of. Don't ask because they will not give you her number. I went to Freds Beds because it was I thought "about" the only place you could get a futon in the Wilmington area. I want to urge you to check online for other stores where you can get futons even if it is not in the Wilmington area that are trustworthy and with a great reputation for "customer service." Please don't invest your hard earned money into Freds Beds because all you will get is headaches! I really hope this helps someone out there. read more
