Ok place to buy a bike. friendly guys, big shop. I love the bike I bought. Can't recommend the current bike techs. spent a chunk of change for a tune up refresh and some work was not done at all, some was done poorly. "No labor charge for installing new parts" sounds great until you learn the $30 chain is $70. Brought the bike back to try to get adjustments redone. I was at the store over an hour. I told the mechanic it wasn't right, he said I could leave it and he'd go through it. The bike was at the shop for a couple weeks in February, I brought it back and he told me it was perfect and the best he could do. Why would I leave it again? This is the short version. There's a lot more. Never going back. Adding to the review after a couple weeks. Worse than I thought. Someone at the store dropped my by bike on the derailleur side and bent the hanger. I was lied to by the mechanic who said he test rode it and it was perfect. It was not. He wasn't competent enough to know the hanger was bent or he's the one who dropped it and didn't want to draw attention to it. I know it was dropped because my seat had a scrape on it and was ripped and my derailleur had a large gash in it. I bought a derailleur hanger tool and bent the hanger back in place and was able to adjust the bike to shift very smooth. I'm guessing the shop has this tool, but nobody used it. It's about 95% there but I ordered a new hanger anyway since I had to to replace my seat. Absolutely terrible repair department. Incompetence is one thing, lying to cover up poor work is worse because it's intentional, in my opinion. This is still the short version. read more

I was in a bind and I needed to get my hydraulic brake repaired before I was scheduled to leave in 2 days for vacation. They told me to bring the bike in and they'd look at it and see what they can do. The service guys jumped on it that day and I had my bike back the next morning. Free Flite Bicycles is a locally owned bike shop and store with three metro locations, with this one located in the shopping center on Canton Road that sits across from Lockdown BBQ and behind Scooter's Coffee and Taco Bell. Given it's location in this large, but not busy shopping center parking is never an issue and always available in front of the store. A friend and I stopped in a few times over the past year looking for accessories for a few new mountain bikes. We were really after lights, accessory bags and comfier seats. They had everything we were looking for and much more. The store itself is well maintained, clean and stocked with literally everything you could ever want or need for your bike...and if you actually needed the bike itself, they have you covered there too! Service was spot on. Both times we visited we were promptly greeted by a staff member and when we asked for assistance they were happy to help and point us in the right direction. Overall, this is a solid bike shop. I will say that the prices are a little higher than I prefer to spend, especially as a novice cyclist. But it is a local shop and we try to support local when possible, so we will continue to swing by when the need arises! read more

Highest of praises to Ramon and the rest of the Free-Flite crew. This was one of the absolute best experiences I have had in purchasing a bike. I was very close to buying another (less expensive) bike at another shop. When I told this to Ramon, he asked what bike I was looking at and looked up the specs. After hearing what kind of riding I did, he went through and explained how the geometry of the other bike would not meet my needs. After an afternoon of research, he sent me a link of a bike that was ideal for me. It was slightly more expensive, but absolutely a better bike that fit me like a glove. I came in that day, but it ended up being 30 min after they closed. Even with that being the case, they allowed me to still do a test ride since I had driven over there. I rode the bike and fell in love with it. Since they had closed, they kept the bike to get it ready first thing the following morning. I went up there that day around noon and picked it up and they had it with my new saddle already installed. They did another fitting to make sure everything was set correct for me and I was on my way. If you are looking to get a bike in the north metro Atlanta area, you are doing yourself a disservice by not at least going to this shop. Both thumbs way up. read more

This is a review by comparison... I first went to the bike store across the street from my house, Out Spokin' Bikes, in an effort to support my local economy. When my wife and I walked in, we were completely ignored by the sales staff (who were NOT helping other customers). We browsed bikes for 3-4 minutes, but after being ignored, we left in disappointment. I then went online and found Free-Flite Bikes in Marietta. What a GREAT place! We walked in, were greeted immediately, given a sales rep's undivided attention for the 45 minutes we were there, and walked out with a new bicycle and accessories. This was an EXCELLENT shopping experience and I'd highly recommend it to anybody looking for a new bike. read more

My husband and I recently (like in March-ish) took up bicycling as a serious hobby. We had some friends that had been to Free Flite, so we figured that we'd give them a shot. We had already been to Dick's Sporting Goods and were told what size bikes we needed. Unfortunately (at least at the time), Dick's didn't have the bikes that we wanted in stock. Armed with that information, we headed to Free Flite. I believe that guy that first helped us was named Jeff. He talked to us for what seems like forever, and we wound up purchasing 2 brand new Trek bikes. He went over all of their policies with us and we walked out of the store knowing we had made good choices. A few days later, after riding on the trails, we went back for some accessories. This is when we met Chris aka House. Seriously. This guy looks just like House!! He will be referred to as House throughout the rest of this review. :) Anyway, House began showing us the accessories we were interested in, and after looking around the store, we realized that our bikes were now on sale, like $50 cheaper for each bike. So House adjusted our account and gave us the $100 off! Sweet!! We bought some bike racks for our car, some cycling shorts, water bottles (which he threw in 2 bottles since they should have come w/ our bikes) and a few other odds and ends. A few weeks later, I sold our old bikes to my best friend, but she needed a way to transport them home. We headed to Free Flite and just my luck, House was working!! He installed her bike rack (the hitch kind) for her and we were on our way. So my husband and I have been getting really active into this biking thing, and we decided that we needed to get Camelbacks (basically, a backpack that holds water). We headed up to Free Flite today and yay, House is working! He comes over to us and says "Oh, look, it's trouble!". Apparently, from meeting us a few times, he knows us well! LOL Anyway, we get to talking about different things, he gives his recommendation on things, helps us find some cycling shorts for my hubby and helps with a few other things. So we go to check out, and I mention that I still have to write my Yelp! review about him. He says he's gonna check back, cuz the first time I mentioned it, I failed to write the review... shame on me! Anyways, he says that he's had like 2-3 people come in since I told him he looked like House and told him the same thing. Also, whatever internal system they use for employees now has a picture of House to represent him! AWESOME! HI HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *wave**wave* Anyways... I would DEFINITELY recommend this place for all of your cycling needs! If they don't have something in stock, they will order it for you! They also hold classes (I believe it's the first Saturday of every month) to go over basic bike stuff with you (how to change a flat, etc). What are you waiting for? The worst service I've ever received at a bike shop. I made an online purchase. Their computer system said the item was in-stock. Prior to picking-up the item at the store I called to confirm. After several attempts to reach a person, I was told that they did not have the item and that they'd issue a refund. Prior to this, they told me that they would look into the issue and call back (more than once) and they did not. I asked for confirmation for the refund and they promised to provide it, but did not. I called several more times the next day. Finally, I got hold of someone who said that the refund could be processed in 5 minutes (then why did it take more than a day to do it?). Though they finally issued the refund, their customer service was horrible throughout the process. read more

I really, really, really want to by a bike from this bike shop. The staff (some of them) are extremely nice and helpful while others are just flat out pompus. After I told them two times that I WAS NOT interested in financing they continued to push it. I had asked about a specific part of the bike that I wasn't crazy about, rather than say we can swap it out with something else at no charge (like the other Trek dealership I went to) he mentioned I should jump to the next model (which was $700 more btw) or they could do it for $50-$100. It's really disappointing as there are other shops that are much more friendly and when you are spending close to $3000 for a bike they should help out a little (pedals, discount the Trek Plus, etc). They also lied to me about the Trek Plus care program saying that they can't discount it from the $350 for a $3000 bike. It's insane that the cost is the same for a $7,000 dollar bike. Especially when another local dealer was willing to throw it in for free. Say you won't but don't say "You can't, it's not possible" lol. I will give them one more try as I really want to give them my business, may even try one of their other stores. Really Bad experience when you are ready to spend $3,000. So I ended up getting my wife a very nice mountain bike which she never wanted to use. After going through various options we decided that a nice comfort bike is more what she wanted. What to do with the very-nice, thrice used, Specialized 29" women's mountain bike with disc brakes? The scammers at play-it-again sports tried to tell me it was a piece of **** and it wouldn't be worth anything (In reality it was FAR nicer than any other bike in that dump). Most other bike store don't deal with used bikes, but Free Flite was able to give me an honest FAIR price as a trade in that was nearly triple what play-it-never-again quoted. I got essentially market value as indicated on bluebookbikes. On top of that the sales staff was able to get my wife the *exact* bike she wanted in a no-pressure environment. Sometimes bike stores can try to steer buyers into a particular type of riding that the staffer prefers, as opposed to listening to what the customer wanted. No such problems here. Recently, I popped a spoke on about mile 30 of the Bike MS Atlanta Peach Ride. I was pretty devastated, as I still had a whole day of riding ahead of me. Luckily, Free Flite had a mechanic's stand set up along the route, and the mechanic was able to quickly and efficiently repair the spoke and get me back out on the road. The mechanic was a very nice guy, very helpful, and also very skilled at a task I clearly couldn't have done myself. I was very thankful that Free Flite was there to save the rest of the day's ride for me. It will definitely be my go to bike shop in Marietta. read more

Best bike shop and people in the metro area hands down! Anyone who knows me knows that I know almost everyone in the mountain bike community and industry in this area and they know me. And I have never, not once, heard a bad thing from them about FFB! And if there was something they didn't agree with or whatnot, the managers, employees or even the top dudes, Dan and Daniel were on top of it to make sure your expierence was the best! The only bad thing you might hear is that there's too much spandex walking around the stores. I purchased a bike from Dick's sporting goods. They offer bike assembly and repairs. I had an issue with my bike and took it to them for a repair. They were not able to figure out the issue. So, I took the bike to Free Flite. I was more than pleased with their service. They had two lines form outside the store- one for sales, the other for repairs. Only 2-3 parties were allowed inside. It took the gentleman less then 30 minutes to complete my repair. When i called other shops, they told me it would take at least 2 weeks. But, this company was very kind and efficient. I expected to spend a lot of money for today's service. But, the price was fair. I live 45+ minutes away from the shop. However, I will make the long drive for my future repairs. read more

Staff is alright. Not a lot of people skills, sales skills or customer service ability. And by this I mean they are not smiles and "Hey how's it going". My biggest rub with this location is their turn around times on repairs and mechanic work. When the standard turn around is 7 days for basic repairs, that's just ridiculous. I would also like to see some loyalty towards their regular customers. Small shops are always complaining about losing business to the internet, well this is why. Bad service, extremely expensive parts and on top of that, they can't get you those parts installed faster than a week. I realize that everyone is a customer so when a dad brings his kids Huffy in they want to treat them the same, unfortunately it feels as if they are more important than those of us that bring our bike back to them for all their service and have spent hundreds on service alone. Its called loyalty to the customers that are loyal to your business or brand. This location is DEFINITELY not loyal to its customers, so why should customers be loyal to them? I like the work they do, so I went to another location on Roswell Rd. They are FAR better at everything that I've experienced from the Canton Rd. store. Better customer service significantly faster turn around and if you're a regular and loyal they treat you that way too. I have not had to leave my bike there for more than 3 days. That means I'm back on the trail faster and messing my bike up faster so I can bring it back in for more repairs. The repair department manager at the Roswell Rd. store is AWESOME! McLane (sp?) rocks! It would seem that the Canton Rd. store does so much business that they don't have time for or don't care about customer service or respecting your loyalty. Luckily for Free Flite the Roswell Rd. store has saved them my business. read more

I've been in many a bike shop in my 70 years on planet earth and they fall into a few predictable categories. Sometimes they can be snobby and condescending. Sometimes I've been in shops that can even subtly quiz you to see if you, the customer, knows what you are talking about and are "worthy" of their merchandise. Sometimes they are clueless and just clearly want to sell you something. And then sometimes you luck out and find a place like Free-Flite in Marietta. I looked at bikes for a few months seeking to upgrade on my Specialized Roubaix which had about six years on it. I was fortunate to get hooked up with Ramon who is not only knowledgeable between and among brands but who set out to find the bike that I wanted rather than one he wanted to sell me. I ended up with a Trek Domane SL6-disc and couldn't be happier. If you want a friendly and well run shop for any level of purchase or repair you won't be disappointed here. At no point during the experience did I feel pressured into buying anything, or "talked down" to about tech.
