From the moment we walked in, the employees were unfriendly. Eye rolls and sarcastic remarks seemed to come before any actual customer service. The overall atmosphere made it feel as though customers were a burden rather than welcomed guests. To make matters worse, the food was bland, dry, and overpriced for the quality received. The experience simply wasn't worth the cost, time, or frustration. The staff showed very little courtesy or professionalism throughout the visit. Customer service training and a stronger focus on attitude and hospitality would go a long way toward creating a better environment for guests. There needs to be better clarity on what is an upcharge. They never told me potatoes were extra. Even so, the POS doesn't even break down what your upcharges were. Up until 2 years ago I would order a super monster, not advertised burrito size, and most of the time the staff would tell me they have never made on before which equates to a sloppy wrap. This time I visit the Free Birds was highly disappointed. We ordered nachos and a burrito the nachos.Barely heading and cheese in all the other ingredients what kind of skimpy as well. The burrito did not have as much meat as it normally does. Because the staff was slow we did not want to make a big fuss because the line had became long behind us. I am so sad that this is the Freebirds that Tyler has. This is NOT your typical Freebirds. I am a huge fan of any other Freebirds but this one. In the past we have avoided this restaurant because the few times we have ordered, the chicken was ALWAYS burnt. This happened on multiple occasions to other people as well. BUT we are doing keto and I saw where they started serving Cauliflower rice! Yay! So my hubby and I came in tonight and ordered two bowls with steak bc we know the chicken is burnt... first, they ran out of cauliflower rice after my bowl.. so they tried to deter the hubby from getting it saying "it will take another 5 minutes" no problem.. that's why we came anyway! Second, same thing happened with the queso.. it'll be another 2 minutes or so.. no prob, I'm already waiting on cauliflower. But when it started going south is when the guy behind the two sweet little girls came out with the bag of cauliflower and THREW it on the counter in an apparent temper tantrum.. he proceeded to glare at us, and violently snatch the cauliflower back to begin cooking it. Y'all... this grown-ass man was legit throwing a fit because he had to do his job. We had been completely nice and understanding, but for this display of immaturity, I had no words. The topper was when my sweet hubby had to wait in line TWICE to get his order... all the while the man child glaring at him. Ummm... is he going to spit in our food because he had to heat up some cauliflower rice?!?! Speaking of sanitary conditions.. I'm not exactly sure this is a COVID friendly place... I never once saw any employee clean or wipe down any tables... not once. So, even though the food was pretty good, I doubt I'll ever get my hubby to step foot in this location again. My husband was the Assistant Manager up there until about a year ago. From what I know, until 2017 or 18 it was an awesome place with great management and so the employees and the service was equally awesome. Until they brought in this terrible person who used to manage a taco bell and it became less about how much pride they had in making quality food or the way they treated people and more about making a profit. The reason why all of the people who gave a shit about quality and service are gone is because each and every one of them either quit because they simply couldn't stand the palpable negativity and the manipulative and ignorant nature of the woman running the place, or they were fired for either trying to go to corporate about her behavior, or because she would constantly talk to her boss and blame others for mistakes that she had made and twisting anyone in authority around her little finger.....anyway, that is why the food and the service is now awful at Freebirds in Tyler, lol. I'm sure that you wanted to know all that. My husband was the hardest worker they had and customer service was extremely important to him. He was under constant stress and would commiserate at home night after night about ways that he could just make it through each day with her in charge and not feel like he was always on the verge of screaming, quitting or jumping off of a goddamn building.... And then he just gets thrown away like a used up rag. I tried this place for the first time today. I used a delivery service. I don't know if it was the combination of what I ordered or what. I am very disappointed. The food tasted like processed food. For example the chicken was supposed to be grilled. It tasted like the chicken you get at the deli counter. It was cut up into tiny cubes and it tasted like it had been pickled in preservatives. It was not grilled as advertised. The queso was nothing more than cheap off - brand Velveeta-like cheese and rotel. It was too spicy hot. Not for me. I would not recommend. I had the child size and I was full so choose wisely the size of burrito you want. The food wasn't hot, just warm which was a disappointment.
