I live way too far to attend this church, but I have some close friends who do and took us to visit while we were in town, WOW, let me tell you, this is an amazing campus! Small church feeling, but so much space to hold all their activities, including a cafe!!!! They have a large and a small chapel, think weddings or other events. Oh, and this church is worth looking at the architectural details, GORGEOUS build!! If you are close enough to drive here, try a Bible study (I heard their great), or come on s Sunday morning. If you're shy, sneak in the back (which is the front of the chapel), bring the kids, because they have activity boxes (until your kids are comfortable enough to join Sunday school & other fun activities). You cannot go wrong, unless you're Jewish or catholic (this is a joke, meaning if you're not Protestant, you might want to attend mass or temple:). Don't worry, my Mom doesn't think I'm very funny either, but it's ok, I crack myself up;) Seriously though, I found this church to be open and loving!!! Very friendly!!

And Mrs. Gentry is awesome as well! We've had such a positive experience and highly recommend this accredited kindergarten. The academics are also strong, but it's half day so you won't overwhelm your 5 year old and he or she will be well prepared for first grade! My son says: "I love my teachers and the head of the whole entire school and the school itself."

Coming from a long line of ancestral Quakers or "Friends", attending a First-Day service is quite…read morenatural for me. Now, I've been here a number of times now (as well as other "meetings", so I'm familiar with the style, approach, philosophy, and background of the modern un-programmed service), but for those of you a bit unfamiliar with it, let me fill you in briefly. First of all, do your homework and study Quaker philosophy, history and modern progressiveness. The Raleigh meeting is un-programmed meaning that the first hour is conducted in complete silence. The idea, of course, is that one is closest to God when in silent meditation. For me, a Buddhist, this works very well as an hour in silence is more of a gift. Now, this works so well because, honestly, how often do you get to sit in a room of fifty people in complete silence? Never, and this meeting gives you that. It allows you to sit and practice mindfulness - something that we all need. Secondly, no matter what your faith is, you'll be welcomed here. It's an older crowd, but the vibe is very low-key, friendly, and compassionate. After all, we do live in North Carolina - a state with a huge Quaker presence and history. Ever heard of Greenville (NC, SC, TN)? How about Greensboro (NC)? How about Natty Greene's Brewery? Well, thank Nathanael Greene, a Quaker by birth, who also was one of the most influential generals (I know the contradiction) during the American Revolution. The Quaker's are a part of history, and taking an hour on Sunday to visit the small meeting house is worth it.
