We were at the French Quarter Inn for one night in October 2023. We wish it could have been more. We thought the accommodations were terrific, especially for the price. Highly recommended...could easily be a 5-star, but they fall short in a couple of areas that could be easily rectified. First to mention is the Continental breakfast. I don't think I've ever seen any hotel do it more cheaply. The waffle machines are behind the bar - but on a Wednesday morning, the attendant said that only she could use it but they were too busy today. However, my husband and I were the only people there. We were given a TINY plastic plate to pile on cold scrambled eggs, cold raw bacon, any toast or biscuit you wanted. I had decided to have oatmeal, but the EVEN TINIER plastic bowl was so small that there would be no way to stir it. My husband did try to make his bran flakes so I got a picture, for reference. Coffee was Walmart pods - blah! The 2nd picture is of the coffee pot in the room. It is totally rusted - and dirty. I shared with the front desk that their coffee pots wouldn't rust so quickly if they didn't place them on the already small bathroom counter by the sink. That space is needed for us anyway! Loved the room, air conditioner, FABULOUS bed and the ambiance of the whole place. read more

I can't even believe he would allow us to stay in such a run down place with a crappy view from our room (Sarcasm) This place was amazing!!! From the call to make our reservation, to call again and change reservation and arrival we had absolutely the best customer service. Rooms are cute and cozy, the view of the bridge and river from our room was stunning at sunset and after dark when it was all lit up. A must to come back to!!! This is the cutest little town. Since it was Sunday and Covid crap a lot is closed but we did walk around and check things out. read more

Yes, I have stayed in nicer, more luxurious hotels that one might think deserve five stars. The French Quarter Inn, though, gets highest marks for character and experience. It's quaint, located along the scenic banks of the Ohio River, and in a lovely, well-preserved part of town lined with brick buildings. The hotel is owned managed by a traditional operator, so you're still getting the kind of service you used to expect. The room is clean and comfortable, and has a huge, jetted soaking tub that was so welcome after a long drive. Front desk staff are friendly and personable. This hotel is well worth going out of your way to stay in. read more

While we initially had a plumbing issue, the owner moved us to a suite overlooking the Ohio River. The lights on the nearby bridge served as a night light in our room. It is centrally located to nearby pub and restaurants and it holds charm from a time gone by. read more

On a whim we decided to plan a trip to Maysville, KY. We picked the French Quarter Inn to experience something different than all the usual chains. It was amazing! This along with a trip to Old Pogue and you really felt the incredible history of the area. The Hotel is fashioned around French culture from the area. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities. The staff was very helpful and informative helping us enjoy an evening in town. It is walking distance to the historical district, restaurants and bars. Great views from the rooms and restaurant. So if you are looking for something different, give this Inn a try. read more

A nice, clean, comfortable place. The desk clerks are very friendly and helpful. A 5-star hotel it isn't, but for the price and location it's perfect and I would definitely recommend it for those visiting Maysville. It's within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was built in 1992, but designed to look like the much older hotels found in the New Orleans French Quarter. Hint: the shower tub sides are very high, so if your short or have difficulty entering tubs, ask for a handicap room. read more

Obviously this isn't a 5-star luxury resort or anything, but for a work trip in a small town in Kentucky, I was definitely satisfied. I stayed here for three nights and didn't really have any complaints. The staff is friendly enough and the location is fantastic, on the river and right off the main drag of "downtown" Maysville. But, given the obviously low occupancy, it would have been nice if they could've given me a river view. Granted, I was out working most of the day so it wasn't the end of the world. The rooms were clean, if a bit outdated, but I suppose that's part of the "charm," something you wouldn't get at a big chain hotel away from the main town, off the highway. My only criticism echoes other reviews, and it's that the beds were definitely very worn, but it didn't affect my sleep a ton, so I won't hold it against them. Finally, there is breakfast served daily in the hotel's restaurant, and while there is only one option for hot breakfast each day (the very limited continental breakfast is free), it was quite good and there's no reason to complain when you get it for $5 and have a great view of the river to start your day. I'd recommend anyone visiting Maysville support this Kentucky business and stay a night or two! read more

We found this little "diamond in the rough" on our travels back to our home state. It definitely gives you the feel of the French Quarter and being in New Orleans, aside from beignets and chicory coffee (which we suggested). The rooms are themed and decorated in the proud Southern fashion and are quite comfortable. The hotel sits right on the Ohio River and they have an outdoor dining/patio area that looks over the river and bridge that connect Kentucky and Ohio. The Town of Maysville has it own unique charm also. Definitely making a trip back here in the Spring. Oh and animal lovers, you can bring your puppy! read more

Stayed one night. $100.00 and no continental breakfast! You could purchase a go bag breakfast for $6.50. Quaint room and big tub. It was clean. The mini fridge was very loud when it kicked on and was loud enough to startle me awake each time. The no breakfast thing really upsets me. I have stayed at other hotels during the pandemic and they all offered individual items in the breakfast room that staff handed out to you. Masks required but the early morning desk guy didn't bother with it. I would like to know if the breakfast is included when the pandemic is over. This is a hidden gem and was a wonderful surprise on a drive from NC to Chicago. We drive until we get tired then Google local hotels that have non-smoking pet friendly rooms. After several rejections along the main drag, I did one last ditch effort after reading the reviews. First of all, Maysville is surprisingly adorable. This hotelnis surprisingly nice. It's furniture is colonial style but it works. Everything is clean and well maintained. The front desk staff very pleasant. And the prices are amazingly reasonable (called from 6 minaway, at 10:30pm for a two bed, non-smoking, pet friendly room and they had one for $99). It is right along the river flood wall which is covered in tasteful murals and is surrounded by cute parks and the historic downtown. We might be making this a regular stop aling the way!! read more

Really enjoyed visiting Maysville and the French Quarter Inn. The room was a good size, clean, free parking, and there was free Wi-Fi. We got a room with a large jacuzzi bathtub -- not sure if they all have that. Will definitely return. There are small animals on the ground floor -- a large cage with birds and some small dogs. We enjoyed that, but be aware in case you have any allergies (or, like my college roommate, are terrified of feathers!) read more

We stay here once or twice a year. If you are looking for a conservative-looking motel like a Best Western, French Quarter is not the place. The rooms are painted in off-colors, like blue-green. The bed is very comfortable and the view on the river side of the building is scenic, although there are often-used train tracks fifty feet away. There is a buffet breakfast that costs money but is very good, serving fruit, sausage, scrambled eggs, etc. The town of Maysville is in itself an interesting place in a nostalgic kind of way, and worth a walk around. read more

Staying here for an out of town wedding! It's not a 5 star hilton but it is quaint! Beautiful view. Clean rooms. Fantastic breakfast. Over sized jacuzzi tubs! Every room Includes fridge, microwave, hair dryer, tv, and coffee maker. And the staff are absolutely great! They are so sweet and helpful! The truly want you to have a wonderful stay! I noticed that most of the negative posts were from over a year ago but based taking comments from another travel site and this one we decided to take a chance and were glad we did. the room was great, it was clean, one of the better hotel showers we've had, namely hard and hot. The TV was a flat screen with more channels available than anyone could want. Receptionist was pleasant and directed us to O'Rourke's Tavern down the street for something to eat. Turned out to be a great spot and pretty much our only choice within walking distance on a Sunday. Cheers! read more

We stayed on the second floor with a street view and really enjoyed the hotel and the region. Our only small issue was some cleanliness, my wife dropped an earing behind the night stand and when I moved it out there was drywall bits and pieces laying back there. The light fixture in the bathroom was also dirty. We will be back though as it wasn't a big deal. read more

Stayed on the Third floor, the whole floor smelled like a wet towel, musty and damp. Our room was damp the bed, furniture, floor, the AC vents even had mold in them. I called the front desk and they sent somebody up who argued with us that nothing was damp even though our socks were wet. She said the moisture travels up and the best she could do was physically replace the entire bed. She told me that the AC unit was brand new and couldn't have mold in it even when I showed her the brown mold and the wet vents. Great location it hasn't been updated since it was built except for wi-fi that they had zip tied to the wall with a fan blowing in it to keep it dry I assume. read more

I stayed at The French Quarter Inn for 3 nights. The number one thing it has going for it is it's location. Set in the heart of historic downtown Maysville it was the perfect location to walk to the self-guided walking tour, the Pogue distillery and many charming places to shop, eat and soak in atmosphere and history. The entire hotel including the room blends quaint historic charm with modern comforts. Our room was clean and comfortable, something we could get at any better chain hotel, but The French Quarter Inn added historic Maysville Kentucky to the decor and feel of the hotel including the room. The wifi was fast and easy to connect to, the air conditioning was deliciously cold, the carpet plush, the towels fluffy - it was an altogether great experience. The midweek breakfast was .....meh. I found that for the same price I could get a bigger better breakfast including grits a half block away at the country kitchen. However I was not in a hurry and if time is a factor the hotel breakfast is fast, filling, good and a good price. The bedding is very rich in it's look and adds to the overall historic look and feel of the room, however pretty much everyone has gotten the memo that hotel comforters/bedspreads don't get washed and have other people's cooties on them. So the first thing we did was remove the comforters and pile them on the floor. Added to them were the pillow shams. If the hotel does actually wash the comforter and pillow shams between every guest, they should make a note of that somewhere so we know that the body fluids of others have been washed away. I did not use the pool so I can't say anything about it good or bad. Overall I would recommend The French Quarter Inn for anybody wanting to stay in the Maysville area. In particular I recommend staying here over any hotel that you can find up on the bluff area of Maysville (which just feels like you are in any un-named sprawling suburb). read more

A wonderful place to stay. Warm and friendly staff, always looking to the comfort of their guests. Nice rooms and good beds. River view rooms look out over the Ohio River with a great view. Rather scenic with all the barge traffic and the lights on the bridge. Excellent breakfast in the mornings. All fresh cooked and a made to order menu if you don't like the buffet. Small bar that is well stocked and very reasonable. Great dining all within walking distance and more choices with a small drive. Most restaurants give a ten percent discount by showing your room key. Great place to stay for a night or a week. read more

Gross. Trust me. I cannot get those poor little birds out of my mind. When you first enter the lobby, you're instantly embraced by an asphyxiating cloud of smoke. Breathing is difficult and vision is impaired by the haze. Near the front desk, there are some sweet little birds trapped in a toxic haze of cigarette smoke. If birds get lung cancer, these little parakeets must be stage 4. So I asked the lady at the desk, "What's with all the smoke?" She casually replied that it was coming from the bar. I was dubious of this explanation since we all turned our heads in unison to see an abandoned bar, with no bartender and no patrons in sight, in the middle of the day. I was embarrassed for her (such a lame lie) so I didn't press the issue. Our "non-smoking" room REEKED of cigarette smoke. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub which we refused to enter, even to simply take a shower, due to the nauseating odor of (I'm sorry) excessively filthy feet mixed with moist mildew. The blanket on the bed had an unidentified white, crusty substance on it (I know!) so we had to remove the disgusting covers altogether. In the corner of the room was a very large area in which the red paint had been scraped off of the wall in strips. Instead of touching up this unsightly mess with a paint brush, the management had awkwardly positioned an armchair to supposedly disguise it. Last but not least, the walls at the side and the head of the bed were COVERED with dozens of highly visible, greasy hand prints. I do not want to know how they got there. Neither do you. We couldn't wait to get out of that nasty place. The next morning, while standing in a cloud of smoke coming from the invisible ghosts at the empty bar, the lady at the front desk asked me repeatedly why we were checking out early. I had neither the time nor the inclination to formally voice my complaints. Besides, I could barely breathe. But she kept asking me why I wasn't staying another couple of nights for which I had originally reserved the room. I finally told her, as politely as possible under the circumstances, what I thought about her overpriced, over-rated hotel. At this point, a lady from housekeeping put out her cigarette and emerged from the back room as if to challenge me. When I mentioned the foul smell in the bathroom, she became defensive. It was starting to get ridiculous. I absolutely cannot BELIEVE that this place markets itself as the finest hotel in Maysville and commands the highest room charges in town. The Hampton Inn, five minutes down the road, was quite literally a breath of fresh air and for $15 less per night. It's clean, well appointed and professionally staffed. In complete fairness, I will say that the river view from our room at the French Quarter was lovely. Also, the hot breakfast was pretty good and the service in the restaurant that morning was excellent. It was difficult to fully taste the food, however, because of the smoke which was rising from the lobby and into the restaurant directly above it. P.S.~ The birds were coughing. read more

15 year old hotel - very clean. We stayed in 418 facing the river. The view was lovely, but the venetian blinds didn't want to stay raised and of course the windows don't open. Too bad they don't have a balcony. There is a 2nd floor open patio over looking the river but it's only open at breakfast time. Would be nice to grab a brew from the bar and sit outside. The decor is Louis XIV with a little early American thrown in for good measure. Our room had been freshly painted - but no pictures or artwork around. The bed is about an extra foot off the floor - nice king size, pretty comfortable, with a coverlet that exposed the mattress all around. Nice toiletries in the bath - huge whirlpool tub. The TV is ancient but worked well, The wi-fi is terrific and speedy. Beautiful immaculate pool outdoors but a little small. Landscaping and grounds pristine. Non smokers beware - the lobby and bar were always smoky - ugh. But they have non smoking rooms. There are signs everywhere warning against smoking in the room and the law against having parties in the rooms. Too funny. Very quiet, great location for checking out the historic section. Can't beat the price. Friendly staff and housekeepers. It's not a Crowne Plaza and not a Days Inn either. Eat at Margie's for breakfast and don't miss Chandlers - both easy strolls. read more

I sadly learned this the hard way by absentmindedly leaving my precious mother's engagement ring behind; by the time I returned home (a 2 hr. drive) and realized it was gone, and knowing full well where I left it, I called the hotel in a panic. I stayed here with my husband, who was on a business trip. I thought the hotel would be in a good location where I could walk to the various attractions in the area. It was! On the first day I walked into town, along the river, and to a museum. Then the coldest weather I have experienced this year hit. So I spent a lot of time in the hotel. I feel that this gives me the experience to write a thorough review. The room and bathroom were clean, clean, clean. The mattress was a little wore out, but comfortable. The bedding was sparkling white. Hint: the jacuzzi switch is on the wall by the sink. Some reviewers complained that the train was noisy. Our room was on the fourth floor, city side. On occasion, I could hear the train and feel a slight vibration during the day. The train did not wake me up at night. You cannot beat their hot breakfast for $3.50 in the mornings. The hotel staff was polite and friendly. Wifi was fast and connected easily. While we were there I noticed that they were in the process of remodeling some of the rooms. If I get the opportunity to visit Maysville again, I will definitely choose to stay at the French Quarter Inn. read more

Clean and friendly. Breakfast is now a buffet with a lot to choose from. View and location is wonderful. Walking distance to many different places. Not giving it 5 stars because the air conditioner sounded like a jet taking off when it kicked on. Other than that this was a great hotel and I am staying there again next month. read more
